One thing can be said about the Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory: it is the best place Moscow, and at the same time - the place is not Moscow at all. In the center - like a piece of glass from a typical Soviet cinema. There are modernist panels on the facades, and everything is very literal: pioneers, bonfires, trumpets, Lenin - where without him. Ash and nut trees grow behind the buildings connected into one complex. It’s quiet, there are no cars, schoolchildren are walking along the paths - even in the late autumn of 2014, the hope-filled 1960s reign here.

The Palace of Pioneers began to be built immediately after the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in 1957, and opened on June 1, 1962 - six months remained before the publication of “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich”, and an eternity before the tanks in Prague. At the parade of pioneers, Nikita Khrushchev himself cut the red ribbon of the new building. The Palace of Pioneers is the physical embodiment of the thaw and all the best that happened in the Soviet Union. The first post-war generation grew up in the country, which did not have to fight for its existence. And to satisfy their creativity needs, for the first time in Soviet history a place of eternal celebration was created for children.

The construction of the complex was an event in the architectural life of the USSR: several concert and theater halls, swimming pools, a winter garden, an observatory and exhibition spaces were combined in one extended building. The competition was won by young and unknown architects under the leadership of Igor Aleksandrovich Pokrovsky (the future author of the development of Zelenograd) - everyone in the team of seven people was under 35 years old. The project became their start in life: when in 1967 the State Prize RSFSR in the field of architecture, the first to receive it were the creators of the Palace of Pioneers.

The solution of Pokrovsky’s team was radically different from everything that had come before: these are very light, elegant buildings that fit well into the natural environment, united by a common laconic and clear style - the complete opposite of the excessive late Stalinist neoclassicism. Despite their half-century anniversary and the need for renovation, they still look fresh, modern and diverse. True, the architects were never able to complete everything they had planned: already in 1963, funding for the continuation of construction was curtailed.

The Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory is not reduced to just a square or a modernist ensemble executed with undeniable taste. It is much larger than its components, and when you enter this space, you can feel a touch of the sacred. Architecture is not only bricks, glass and reinforced concrete. Architecture always expresses the ideology and mood of society: judging by the difference between the spacious New Arbat and the bulky Academician Sakharov Avenue, it is easy to imagine the difference between the beginning and end of the Brezhnev era. The Palace of Pioneers is a living utopia from a time when people believed that they would soon subjugate thermonuclear fusion, create a just society and fly to distant planets on a shiny rocket. And this is his paradox.

This complex lives in a parallel reality - by the end of the 20th century, humanity experienced a crisis of faith in progress. No one is interested in a bright future anymore: why explore real space if you can in social networks discuss space adventures in Christopher Nolan's new film? And even more - the hope that things will be better in the future has been replaced by a fear of change and a desire to isolate oneself from the future, forget about its existence and return to the past, or at least leave everything as it is. But, being on Vorobyovy Gory, you don’t feel this hassle: progress is great, and the future cannot but be wonderful. Because if it is not beautiful, then why live at all?

On the square near the Palace of Pioneers, it’s easy to believe that everything will be fine. At least for this reason, in late autumn 2014 this is the best place in Moscow.

Now minibuses and trolleybus No. 7 rush past Malchish-Kibalchish along Kosygina Street. And at its foot is buried a capsule with soil from the grave of the writer Arkady Gaidar, buried above the Dnieper in the tiny city of Kanev. The monument to Malchish was opened on the territory of the Palace of Pioneers on the Sparrow Hills on May 19, 1972 - on the day of the 50th anniversary of the All-Union pioneer organization. The capsule with soil was buried two years later. And also on Pioneer Day.

Back in (as it seems now) 1936, people from all over Moscow went to Stopani Lane to pursue their dreams. More precisely, the children were traveling to make their dreams come true, since they could simply dream in the Tagansk communal apartment, where there was one washbasin for 43 people (like, for example, the future theater and cinema prima Natalya Gundareva), and in the Spanish gateways of the Arbat (like the actors Rolan Bykov and Igor Kvasha), and in the elite Government House overlooking the Kremlin on Serafimovich Street (as writer Yuri Trifonov)...

You could dream anywhere in pre-war Moscow. But the dream could only come true in the Palace. At the Palace of Pioneers. “The winter of 1937-38 was alarming and difficult. I still remember... the feeling of festive, chilling excitement... I almost ran along the alley to an old house, all the windows of which were illuminated... a warm, festive house....Disputes ", discussions, mutual destructive criticism, interesting lectures - all this came later. They gave me something very important, without which I would not have become a writer," wrote the author of the novel "The House on the Embankment" Yuri Trifonov about the literary studio of the House of Pioneers. Writers Yuri Trifonov, Sergei Baruzdin, Anatoly Aleksin, Sergei Lvov grew up in the literary and creative studio on Stopan... Life here, albeit just a little, was ahead of the reality in which children existed.

Life was made up of gray everyday life: eternally tired parents, an unkempt and often hostile courtyard, irritated teachers who, it seems, unfairly stamped “twos” and “threes” in your diary... And in the Palace of Pioneers “life as it is” fabulously turned into "how it could be." As it should be. In a bright future.

In Belarus, the Loktev Ensemble, the Young Muscovite Theater, and the “Pioneer” choir are well known; in Moscow they admire the “Chabarok” dance ensemble, the “Krynichka” choir, and the “Praleska” folklore ensemble. In short, we are family friends...

Eighteen-year-old student Vladimir Stein created a Puppet Studio here, which very soon became world famous. Six year old girl came to the ballet group of the Song and Dance Ensemble of Vladimir Loktev (at that time the group did not yet bear the name of the great maestro) Tamara Sinyavskaya is the daughter of ordinary Moscow workers. And she became a world famous opera singer. Sergei Nikonenko was brought to cinema by love... No, not only by art - by an ordinary girl with freckles. Because of her, he stayed in the theater studio of the Palace of Pioneers.

Igor Kvasha was pulled out of the criminal raspberry of Arbat by Rolan Bykov. And he brought me to the Palace of Pioneers. The children's theater showed their friends a guiding star.

In 1962, the Moscow City Palace of Pioneers moved from Stopani Lane to Vorobyovy Gory.

All the palaces and houses of the pioneers had a “military secret” - they kept the dream and gave its embodiment to those who wanted it more than others. The palaces of the pioneers were the territory of good faces, sparkling eyes, kind hearts, loyal friendship... You went into your black and white life with a torch inside. Maybe just an inch, but more mature, more inspired, freer...

What about now? Has the romance faded from the walls of the Palace of Pioneers over 80 turbulent years? How does the current Palace of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills differ from its “great-grandfather” in Stopani Lane? - I bombarded with questions general director Palace of Pioneers Andrei Shashkov.

It is impossible to correct, let alone replace, a classic. And why?! - Andrei Anatolyevich reflects on my question. - An aura of creativity, search, self-improvement has moved into our Palace of Pioneers on Kosygina Street from Stopani Lane... There are things that do not change their value over time. Kindness. Love for children. Responsibility. Ability to make friends. The ability to listen and hear. The desire to help each other. These are personality-defining qualities, without which one cannot move forward. We tried to preserve them. Both craftsmanship and moral qualities are passed on, as they say, by word of mouth, and the vast majority of our teachers are graduates of their native Palace of Pioneers.

Another thing is what they are teaching now, what skills they are imparting. We have preserved everything classic: aircraft modeling, ship modeling, robotics, space, chess, military-patriotic training, ecology... Everything that was and will be in demand of time. Hundreds of other disciplines have been added. Let's say practical astrophysics. We have our own observatory, our own planetarium...

There is even a star, named after the Palace of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills.

Yes. And this is something to be proud of. As well as the fact that two pilot-cosmonauts, Heroes of Russia - Sergei Ryazansky and Boris Morukov, emerged from the walls of the palace. Biochemist and cardiologist. Both studied in the ecology club of our Palace of Pioneers.

We try to give children education at the intersection of sciences, at the intersection of subject areas.

In our previous publications (see below), we actually described the criminal activities of the so-called “parental” committee of the Moscow State Duma (Yu)T, the real purpose of which is to eliminate the protective status from the territory of the Palace of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills, which will allow construction companies to implement their grandiose projects in a volume that is familiar to them and deadly for all living things. It is important to emphasize that half of the so-called “parents” who entered this ill-fated Republic of Kazakhstan have not had children in the Palace for a long time and, perhaps, never studied at all. Moreover, among the most concerned activists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, mainly people affiliated with banking structures and the construction complex were noticed. IN Lately However (after our publications), the ranks of the criminals have thinned somewhat, and two employees of the Societe Generale Bank have sharply reduced their illegal activity (apparently, a stable banking career is more valuable than the uncertainty of a black raider).

Well, as one would expect, this public opinion was signed by fourteen more members of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the most honest employee of the Palace, Svetlana Mikhailovna Kostieva, who clung to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The opinion of another 14,986 parents of children studying at the Palace, or at least another 22 parents who are part of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is not reflected in this letter.

You don’t need to read the second and third paragraphs of the letter; they contain purposeful mumbling in order to lull the reader’s vigilance. It must be admitted that God did not offend Lev Moiseev with his literary talent, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about his moral and ethical status.

The most interesting thing is the fourth paragraph, which directly says: “we need to change protective status Palace." And then: “only you can do this, Vladimir Vladimirovich.” It is impossible to imagine that Moiseev could not know that there is not a single legal way by which Putin could remove the protective status from the Palace. This issue falls within the exclusive competence of the Moscow government. Nevertheless, a Cossack sees a Cossack, as we know, from afar. Moiseev’s logic is clear as daylight, namely, “what does it cost for a person who won the elections on March 4 to resolve the issue of protective status just as easily and naturally.”

Further, Moiseev grovels in an extremely nauseating manner: “We hope that upon completion of the entire complex of work, you (Vladimir Vladimirovich) will personally cut the ribbon on the opening of the second stage and the entire updated complex.” Well, and, of course, he congratulates VV on his worthy victory in the elections, and wishes the “winner” successful management of our great state.

Moiseev, apparently, had already transmitted the letter through people interested in construction and having access to the “body”. And to honest people resisting development who had the misfortune of joining this ill-fated Republic of Kazakhstan, Moiseev sends out letters with the following content: “My strong point is to treat fools... with harsh methods!”

Throughout the 75 years of its existence, this world’s largest Palace of Children’s Creativity has been a “cradle of talent” for hundreds of thousands of young Muscovites. From its walls came out into great life a lot famous people, whose names everyone in Russia knows. Artists and writers, politicians and diplomats, Olympic champions and journalists... Over the past 50 years, the buildings of the Palace of Pioneers have become very worn out and aged. New premises would greatly help, without interrupting the educational process, to free up the main building for a comprehensive restoration. The city government has repeatedly renewed attempts to complete the construction of six buildings of the second stage, originally designed, but not built due to a lack of budget funds. Now funds have been found, as Mayor Sobyanin reported to Dmitry Anatolyevich. However, there is a difficulty preventing construction from starting.

The fact is that the complex of buildings and the territory have protected status. The Palace Park, which today is a “Monument of Landscape Art,” was protected by its status for many years from numerous attempts at commercial development. In order to build new buildings, which are necessary like air for the Palace to function normally, the security status needs to be changed. Such a change will undoubtedly lead to fatal consequences. The frozen commercial projects of residential, office and retail and entertainment buildings will be immediately activated and the area will be developed. Children's park will cease to exist. The Palace itself will be under threat of closure.

In these difficult conditions, we see the only possible decision, which only you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, can make.

The Parents Committee asks you:

1. Issue a document allowing the construction of the second phase of the Palace without removing or changing the protective status.

2. Take under your personal control the entire range of works and the process of budgetary financing of construction.

3. To guarantee the preservation of the integrity and inviolability of the territory and complex of buildings of the Palace to fulfill its main function - accessible and free additional education for children.

Only in this way can we ensure the preservation of the pearl of our city - the Palace on Sparrow Hills - for current and future generations. We count on your understanding of the significance of the problem and your support.
