The Witcher 2 is coming. Armor and swords

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition is computer game, which refers to an RPG, with elements of strategy manifested in planning various fights, as well as in the use of objects and magic to defeat the enemy. For example, if you take a potion, then in the future it will be easier for you to defeat even the boss. In fact, the game is quite difficult. If you want to try your hand at this genre, then we offer you the Witcher 2 torrent download Mechanics in Russian for free on our game portal right now. The first levels will seem quite easy to you, but after you set the difficulty to at least one unit, then all the tests will begin here. If you manage to reach, say, level 5, then your life in the game will depend on your instant reaction, and, unfortunately, it can end at absolutely any second.

Plot

In the presented game you will try yourself in the role of the witcher Geralt of Rivia. He is a professional monster slayer. One day, finding himself in the very epicenter of political chaos, Geralt manages to stop the Grand Master of the Order of the Flaming Rose. Immediately after this event, King Foltest is assassinated by a mysterious killer who is very similar to the witcher. Geralt manages to save the king's life and is appointed bodyguard. Foltest restores order in Temeria, but this is not the end, because Baroness La Valette abdicated the throne and now settled in her fortress with a small garrison. About a month later, preparing for the final assault, Foltest's armies stood at the walls of the La Valette fortress and Geralt also joined the ranks of his army, trying to find answers to various questions.

Gameplay

Thanks to the new, state-of-the-art RED Engine, the developers were able to combine stunning graphics and complex game mechanics in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, offering gamers the most atmospheric and vibrant world ever created in a video game. The stunning, realistic plot of The Witcher 2 fully opens up gamers' deep imagination to the story. In addition to the epic plot, there is an excellent combat system, which is a unique combination of dynamism and tactical depth of battles. In order to take a closer look at the gameplay and completely immerse yourself in the game, we advise you to download the Witcher 2 torrent from Mechanics for free on our video game website.

Features of The Witcher 2 Mechanics

  • Heroes don't change. This time, gamers will once again find themselves in the shoes of the White Wolf, who is the destroyer of evil spirits of the witcher Geralt.
  • Absolutely new level freedom. You are offered three randomly intertwined storylines. Each player's actions depend on key event, which leads to one of several alternative endings.
  • "Living" world. Any events that occur in the game are interconnected and form a single chain of cause and effect. Each of the non-player characters has their own character and acts based on their beliefs and goals.
  • Individual style. The player has the opportunity to develop his character at will, combining three parameters - the art of magic, swordsmanship and alchemy.
  • Various development options. The effects of any skill can be modified depending on your desires, using new system mutagens.
  • With a sword in his hands. The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings was developed in the traditions of the first part; there is a completely updated combat system, which has greater freedom to make tactical decisions and is characterized by very high dynamics.

I played through the game many times and did all 16 endings.
Of these, I completed it once on insane (!!!) and 7 times on dark (the set of cursed items is worth it).

So.
Step-by-step tips for passing.

The first rule is that the game has useful (and not so useful) abilities that can be obtained as the game progresses.
And also talents...
How to distribute them?
Many people ask this question, wanting to create a real legendary witcher Geralt of Rivia... And I will try to help.
Reminders - what and how to do.

TALENT DISTRIBUTION DURING THE PROLOGUE.
Be sure to take “Throwing Knives” and “Parry” (the first level is enough)
Then I recommend “Reflecting Arrows” (immediately to the 2nd level of the skill) - then we can not only defend against arrows, but also reflect them back at the archers!
By the way, later we can further improve this useful skill with the help of the “Archer Storm” ability, which I will describe in the first act.

"Grit" - also pumped to maximum - gives a good increase in energy recovery
DURING BATTLE, this is very useful,
regardless of whether you follow the path of a sorcerer or whether you prefer a strong swordsman.

Alternative skills that I do not recommend downloading
- this is “energy restoration OUTSIDE OF BATTLE” and Hardening (+10 to health).
Outside of combat, you can always be patient a little so that the energy is restored - this is not critical.
And “Toughening” gives too little bonus to health to pay attention to when there are more useful skills.

CAPABILITIES.

First of all, let’s immediately look at some slightly unusual dialogue abilities that allow
get additional benefits, learn more or avoid unnecessary bloodshed when communicating.

There are only three of them and each has 3 levels of pumping (that is, to get the 3rd level of an ability, you need to successfully use it 3 times
-I recommend saving before each dialogue just in case until you level them up!

“Coercion by the sign of Axiy” (or Illusionist) - allows you to enchant the mind of your interlocutor.

“Intimidation” - the witcher is very good at threatening his enemies - I advise you to choose intimidation (eye with lightning) wherever possible until you level it up to the 3rd level.

“Persuasion” - we also try to choose until there is a 3rd level of ability - 3 successful applications, eloquence has never harmed anyone.)

I advise you to level up all three skills as quickly as possible - there are cases when, for example, even a leveled up skill does not work in the dialogue, or the most leveled one (for example, Intimidation) is for some reason missing from the dialogue.

Now consider
Once you find yourself in Foltest's camp, don't forget:

1. Experienced skill - 10% additional experience.
If you destroy 10 dummies, you will receive an extremely useful skill that gives a 10% bonus experience.
As soon as we leave the tent where we indulged in lovemaking with Triss, I strongly recommend going straight to the courtyard where the soldiers are training, there are 5 mannequins.
Destroy them and the skill can already be considered half acquired.

2. Hired killer - Damage when attacking from behind +25%.
Everything is simple here, go down to destroy the ballista, as soon as you finish off the soldiers, look around near the convoys near the walls - there will be a corpse of a dude, dressed as an assassin from the game Assassin Creed.
When you approach him, Geralt will say something like “They still don’t understand what’s going on” and you get this ability.
What the developers wanted to say is of course an interesting question, but there is room only for guesswork.
However, combined with somersaults, this is a very useful skill!

3. Arsonist (other translations also include Pyromaniac or Pyromaniac) - chance to set the enemy on fire with a blow +20% (!)
An easily obtained and, oddly enough, very valuable ability in battle, which is worth getting as soon as possible.
To get it you need to light up 20 times.
We look for the nearest fire, take off our clothes...
We jump into the fire 20 times and immediately jump out...
We wait until health is replenished and repeat until we receive the ability
(I recommend saving after each fire just in case)

4. Before we go up to Ariane La Valette, we have an involuntary choice, which I recommend making in advance...
We should decide right away whether we will follow the path of Roche, or the path with Iorvet.
Roughly speaking, we are with people or non-humans.
For those who are going through it for the first time, I recommend the Roche path (it’s a little easier for him), and then the Iorvet path.
Unfortunately, making the typical choice of a witcher - “my house is on the edge” - will not work; in this game we cannot be neutral.

A) We decided to choose the Roche path.
Then we can get the useful Executioner skill - +1% to kill with the first blow.
To do this, we kill Arian La Valeta. (In the dialogue we should immediately decide what we want, you can fight him one on one, or you can fight with the whole crowd. But if you are passing on a difficult level or you are new to this game, I’ll say right away, fight very difficult with all the code).
To gain the skill in the future, we kill Adam Pangratt and allow Roche to kill Henselt.
Thus, we have had this skill since the beginning of the third chapter.
By the way, maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to me that it works more often than if there was a 1% chance...
In any case, we won’t regret it!

B) We decided to choose the path of Iorveth and further help the dwarves with the elves.
In this case, I recommend persuading Aryan to surrender.
Then, we will begin the first chapter with the “Strong Back” skill - +50 to the carried weight.
A useful skill at the beginning of the game!

P.S.
A small correction - they say that you can get the Strong Back skill by losing any fist fight 1 time and/or entering the fight overloaded.
Personally, it didn’t work out for me, but many people succeed...
In any case, you can try it!

P.P.S.
In the monastery, when talking with Tyler, I recommend choosing “hit” in the dialogue - this way we’ll be more likely to level up “Intimidation”

Also, during the conversation with Small, which begins the quest “The Heart of Melitele,” I recommend saying that you doubt that the amulet brings good luck.
In this case, Small One will meet you in armor when you leave the dungeon and, in gratitude, will give you a book about dragons.
Then he will take the soldiers aside...
I strongly advise you to go and beat up all three of them - as soon as they see you, even Petty will get involved in the fight (ungrateful brute!)
somersaults + quen + gizarma will help you cope with them with ease.
After the battle, we take the drop and remove the “Heart of Melitele” amulet from Small’s corpse.
While the quest “Heart of Melitele” has not been completed, I recommend that you deposit the amulet at the first opportunity in Act 1, since the effects from it are given if we carry it with us, and at this stage it only gives -10% armor - which is obvious to us no need...
Act 1.

CAPABILITIES:

1. "Barrier" - Ignoring damage: +10%.
Definitely a most valuable skill, recommended for acquisition as one of the most useful in battle!
Getting it is relatively simple - when we get off the ship, surrounded by Triss and Roche, as soon as Triss puts up a protective field from arrows, we NEVER go beyond this barrier!

P.S.
I suspect that if you searched everything and everywhere, even going into all the doors in the houses and collecting a bunch of rubbish and more, thanks to which you began an act of overload...
My advice is you can try to do it with overload, but it will be a difficult task...
Or you can throw out everything unnecessary at once in one bag - having reached Flotsam under the shield, you should immediately return for the drop and the thrown things.
By the way, along the way there will be a chest with drawings of a silver sword...
Be sure to take it - there is nothing to do in the forest without a silver sword!

Immediately after saving our old friends, Zoltan and Dandelion from the gallows, we have the quest “Indecent Proposal” (“Indecent Proposal” in other translations).

2.Ability "Experienced", part two.
Before completing quests, I recommend that you finally obtain the “Experienced” ability, which gives additional experience +10%.
Since we have already broken 5 dummies in the Foltesta camp, we still have 5 more left.
Choose from here:

Location of the remaining mannequins.
2 pieces in the barracks, on the second floor, which are on the shopping area.
It's easy to find - a couple of guards are standing/sitting near the entrance.
Important point - save!
By taking out a weapon in front of the guards, you risk getting hit on the head by the guards.
And if you kill them, you will find yourself in an awkward situation or a large fine - about 200 orens
(at this stage of the game money is especially scarce)
The best thing is to take off the sword and beat the mannequins with your fists; in some cases, the guards will then not show aggression and you will do it calmly.

2 pieces in the shopping area, between the gates to the city and leading to the forest.

2 pieces between the gate to the city and leading to the forest, in the quarter of non-humans.

P.S.
There are 2 more mannequins in Loredo's residence...If the others don't suit you)

Then, in order not to run around once again, I advise you not to rush to complete the quest “Infamous Proposal” - after receiving the ability, it is better to go to the tavern.

Having completed the fist fighting championship (by the way, a good way to make money if everything is critical for you financially), we receive an offer to take part in underground fights that will take place at Loredo’s residence.
In the evening, near the tavern, there will be a man who will take us to him and this good opportunity At the same time, immediately complete the quest “The Vile Proposal”, immediately after the fist fights.

P.S.
By the way, don’t agree to lose the fight for Loredo, otherwise they won’t give you the money, and you’ll be stupidly kicked out...

P.P.S.
In the quest "The Vile Proposal", when you sneak past the soldiers, save often.
If you complete this stage well (I recommend stunning all the soldiers so as not to interfere with our looting), then you:
1. Eavesdrop on Sheala’s conversation (the completeness of the plot is always interesting)
2. Make some good money in the backyard - by the way, when you're sneaking, overload doesn't bother you)
3. Get the trap piece on the kayran-iron frame. The trap drawing can be purchased from Cedric.

3. Ability "Trade" - discounts in stores 20%.
Definitely a “must have” - even a well-pumped witcher, but poorly dressed, is a rather weak threat to his opponents, and what else, if not financial assistance, will help to dress him up?
Getting the ability is easy.
In the quest-Keyran: Question of price - first we demand a reward 2 times larger and CONVINCE AXIEM.
Having killed the Kayran and received the agreed reward, we receive this ability, which will be useful to us in the future.

P.S.
There are also alternative way obtaining the ability if we follow the path of Roche, but the truth is only in the second chapter.
In the Kaedweni camp, near the dining room, the religious Julian hangs out.
By donating a small amount to him, we receive the book of the prophet Lebeda.
After reading it, we go to the brothel, outside the camp gates, there is a dwarf named Raimund Gessler.
We show the book and we get the ability.

3. Poisonous blood - 30% chance to poison the enemy who struck Geralt.
Very unusual ability, since the chance is added not to the witcher’s blow, but as a punishment to the enemy who hit him.
It's quite easy to get, you just need to be poisoned 3 to 5 times.
I get this - when communicating with the elf Cedric, we study his goods, find the recipe for the “Devil's Mushroom” bomb, make 5 of them at once, reach some dead end and throw the bomb at our feet several times. After being in this poisonous cloud, we gain this ability.

4. “Thrower” - damage to knife throw +5.
Immediately after completing the quest "The Vile Proposal" go to visit Roche's squad - you will go to a party of the Temerian special squad.
Save now!
Then we talk with Bianca - she invites us to compete in knife throwing.
We agree, because if we win, we will get this ability.
P.S.
Many players have problems passing the game because they don’t see where to aim.
Everything is simple here.
There are only three goals.
There's an oar in the corner. To the right, a ham is suspended from the ceiling. And even further to the right is a map that is hard not to notice.
We listen, where to throw and throw!

P.P.S.
After we calm Roche down, convincing him with words or fists so that he does not give a thrashing to the peasants, we will be offered to compete in arm wrestling.
There are two opponents.
Having defeated the second one, we will get a good sword (considering our meager arsenal at this stage of the game, it won’t hurt, and it’s never too late to sell it if you have something better.

5. “Sapper” - probability of avoiding damage from traps and bombs +50% (although for me, the ability works more often),
As soon as we go out into the forest, we are faced with the fact that there are quite a lot of traps in the forest.
To get the ability, you must either set a trap 50 times (in my opinion, an unwise choice)
or choose an easier way to get it - interrupt Geralt 5 times while disarming the trap (the easiest way is by clicking “defuse” - immediately click on the medallion with the “Z” button)
P.S.
Traps are my favorite trap!
Firstly, they get it for free and large quantities while walking through the forest.
Secondly, after being triggered, they are not destroyed, so the used ones can be collected again for repeated uses.
Thirdly, when encountering a trap, the enemy is delayed for a couple of seconds, which is also very useful in difficult battles.

"Crown of Summer" - replaces the standard quen sign with a solar quen.
When an enemy hits a Quen shield, there is a 10% chance that the enemy will catch fire!
As for receiving it, you can, of course, immediately run to the altar, behind the bandit hut, but I don’t advise you, you’ll still have to come back...

The best way is to go complete the quest “Trouble with the Troll”.

(If you haven’t yet got the “Collect all the herbs on the way” rule, I recommend getting it.
Grass has no weight and will not lead to overload, but we always need elixirs, and bombs can come in handy...)

First, we fight the troll and remove half of his health.
(before approaching him, I recommend placing all the collected traps in one place and then luring them out)

Then we communicate with him.
He tells us that his “baba” was killed by some bandits.
We promise to help.
We look around in this stream and find a good sword - “Strong Cord” (!)
We run back to Flotsam and begin the quest “Poker with Dice: Flotsam.”
We beat everyone, after which we are offered to play with the Burnt from Bindyugi.
Having won against him, we get the troll's head and the troll's tongue
(which will be useful to us in the quest "The Heart of Melitele")
Let's find out about Dimitar...
Having threatened the bandit with violence in the tavern, we learn that Dimitar is in the cemetery.
We are preparing for battle - we drink elixirs, use talents...
(I’ll mention how best to level up Geralt later)
Having dealt with Dimitar, we take from him the key to the bandits’ hut.
Personally, I didn’t get there during my first playthrough and, as it turned out, I shouldn’t have.

Let's go to the troll, talk first(!) about the head - he gives us a drawing of the wonderful Raven armor

(although in the original they are called hunter’s armor, but that’s not the point, the stats were not affected by the translation) - if you are not completing the game on a dark level and are not trying to collect the damned armor of the Sacred, then this armor is the first worthy armor, until you meet the Kayran.

From the troll we visit the bandits - in the shack we select the most best sword first act - "Excellent cord".
Attention! We're not in a hurry to leave!

6. “Crown of Summer” ability! Your Quen shield becomes solar - anyone who hits it has a 10% chance of catching fire! There is an altar behind the bandits' shack - we approach it and get a bun!

Now a little trick for the quest with the troll - since we didn’t kill him, we go to Bindyuga and receive 200 orens as a reward from the headman (although he doesn’t pay right away, it’s worth threatening)
And immediately after that we go to the troll again.
We say “And yet I have to kill you...”
We kill him.
We get the best damage trophy in the game!
+9 to damage.
Then, returning to the city, on occasion we’ll look into Ludwig Mersa and AGAIN we will receive a reward for the troll (Mers needed him dead), although he will only give a hundred orens.
But considering that we get a troll tongue, a wonderful troll trophy, a skin and another 100 orens, this is also a very good bonus!

7. "Strong stomach" - resistance to poisoning +10%.
Before the battle, drink the mongoose elixir from the tenecost (the tenecost is in a cave hidden behind the waterfall)

By the way, in this cave you can gain good experience and earn extra money (by making runes from Yigist) - the drawing requires the essence of water (the recipe is worth taking) and the hearts of nekers - of which we can fill enough in the cave.
If you are interested, then we do this: we clear the cave, return to the exit, meditation for a day - we clear the cave of creatures, meditation... In general, until you get tired of it.

After killing Kayran, we have a continuation of the main storyline and the opportunity to gain the ability:

8. "Magic resistance" - protection from magical damage + 20%
(note that this is a very rare, but in some cases incredibly useful stat)
The point is simple - we go for the rose of memory with Triss, but we don’t have sex with her, instead choosing in the dialogue “let’s get out of here,” we destroy two walls with Aard, for which we get the ability (supposedly we did not succumb to the love spell of the elven bath).

9. “Storm of the Archers” - chance to kill with a repelled arrow + 20%.
It turns out quite simple.
Standing in a block, if our arrow reflection is pumped up to the second level, we periodically deflect the arrow in the opposite direction. After the fifth killed archer, we get the ability!
(Personally, when I came across the Scoiataels, those who got into close combat, I killed, leaving the archers, whom I finished off with their own arrows.
It may be too early, you can get it later, but in other acts this is a very useful ability!
So, “we’re preparing the sled for the summer.”..=)

10. "Parry" - when blocking, the chance to riposte automatically +10%.
You need to successfully riposte about 20 times.
Although I personally strongly advise against spending money on a skill.
Somersault and immediately hit the enemy in the back(!), where the damage is higher than a frontal attack... And if you also use the “Hitman” skill, it’s more effective, since the damage is higher, the chance of receiving it yourself is minimal. and at the same time we do not receive any damage at all and do not waste energy, as we do if we stand in a block.
Even in the original story, the witcher was a mobile fighter, and not a tank that fights in one place!

Act 2.
Everything is simple here, the abilities that we can get depend on the chosen path.

Roche's way.

1. Exorcist-damage to ghosts +10%.
We get it when we disenchant Henselt according to the plot.
In fact, the ability is so-so... Since we get the ability only at the end of the act, and in the third act there are almost no ghosts.

2. “Swordsman” - bonus to sword damage + 4.
A small thing, but nice. We get along with the plot, repelling the attack of two assassins who attacked Henselt.

3. "David" - damage to large monsters +10 percent.
It’s easy to get and again according to the plot.
After inspecting the killers' hideout, we kill three elementals.
When faced with the dragon in the third chapter, for example, you will be very glad that you have this ability!

4. "Executioner" - chance to kill with the first blow +1%.
If we killed Arian la Valette in the prologue, and in the second act we do not spare Adam Pangratt, and later Henselt, then we are given this wonderful bonus for our cruelty.

The Path of Iorveth.
1. “Ornithologist” - additional damage to harpies +10 percent.
To obtain it, you must complete two quests: “Contract for the Harpies” and “Contract for the Harpy Queen.”
There is little benefit from the ability; we get it by killing almost all the harpies, and in the third act there are almost none of them. Of course, you can work hard with clearing out the quarry and getting daily sleep, but for me, there are easier ways to gain experience and earn money, which I will also mention...

2. "Pathologist" (I suspect that he was originally a pathologist, but this is a typo in the translation)
- Damage to people: +10%
Obtained during the quest "With a Trembling Heart", when we take out sword fragments from a corpse.
I think it’s unnecessary to explain that the skill is very useful...

3. "Child of the night" - +2 to the speed of health recovery at night.
A small thing, but a pleasant one!
We get the ability if we decide to sneak through the Kaedweni camp to Henselt.
A little more difficult than the other path, but the ability is worth it in my opinion.

ATTENTION!
There is a wonderful quest “Memory of Old Years”, which, as is commonly believed, can only be completed if you choose the Rocher path, but this is a mistake!

Passing behind Iorvet, leaving the camp and passing through the bridge, we turn towards the brothel and go beyond it and move on...
After passing through the crevices, we find ourselves at a house by the river.
We destroy the barrels, go down to the basement, activate in correct sequence three candles (personally, I used the brute force method, I was too lazy to remember, there were still few options)
Having opened the secret room, we get an encrypted manuscript, taking which we begin the quest “Memory of Old Years”.

An easy way to earn money at the end of the second chapter if you play as Iorveth.
During the quest "Siege of Vergen" we must climb the wall and activate the switch with burning oil...
Personally, I was in no hurry.
The soldiers barely had time to climb the stairs and received lyuli.
Methodically and slowly interrupting them, I raised my experience quite well, but most importantly, EVERYONE dropped a drop of “Kaedweni sword” (well, and occasionally dredge and other little things). I collected an incredible number of swords (the overload was about 1200) and only after that I activated the oil...
Having gone down, as soon as the gate was knocked out by the magician, I walked (overload after all) slowly through the second gate. Zoltan was running nearby. As soon as the gates closed, Saskie suggested checking the catacombs; on the way we looked into the tavern (strangely enough, it was open, although there were almost no visitors and there was blood on the floor)
Having driven all these swords, I received approximately 10,000 orens of net profit and after that I continued the quest.
3 Act.
Capabilities.

1. “Secret Knowledge” - +5 to sign damage if you have completed the “Gargoyle Contract” and solved all the puzzles.

2. “Shroud of Winter” (Winter Shroud) - your Aard sign is transformed into “ice” and a 20% chance of freezing the enemy with Aard is added.
We must approach the altar by the third act.

Finding it is relatively simple - from the road along which we went down, overturned carts are visible - we go to them - there are two head-eyes there.

(Having defeated them, among the carts we find a sword that will be useful to us in the last battle with the dragon, called Deytven (+25 percent damage to large monsters - with three fire runes - ideal for fighting the dragon))

Coming out of this crevice, we look at the left rocky edge and see a barely noticeable cave.
We go in, find a way out and climb up... we go up, we walk along a mountain path... almost approaching the city wall we see some kind of drifting snow under our feet and we find a book about rituals. Next to the book is a place, standing on which we press the “use” button .
Personally, I almost didn’t use Aard in the game, I was interested in the moment itself, to see “what it is”)

Weapon mark.
If you open the gargoyle chest, there is a wonderful sword "Kerm".
Most players, unfortunately, even experienced ones. They claim that this is the strongest steel sword...
So, if you play as Roche, then you have a chance to see how wrong they are...

If you decide to save Anais (Triss will still save Leto), going out into the street the former spy Roche turns to us, if you agree to help, the quest “Lilies and Snakes” starts...
Study the location carefully!
You will find a cave with a corpse with a book about certain wolves...
And then a real werewolf attacks you!!!
We wet it, look further at what is left... At the battle site we find a good silver sword and a wonderful steel sword “Dancer”!
Look at his stats.... Preferably insert three runes from Yigist...
You will see monstrous damage with good critical stats!)

And a note on the Memory quest old years In some versions of the game, a bug occurs - when the keeper of the corvids is standing in the hall, and we have not yet gone down, throw a couple of knives at him! He will rush at you in hand-to-hand combat (easy prey) and he will drop useful drops, such as corvid armor, a good staff and dragon skin. We raise our heads - BA.... And he is still standing there as if nothing had happened!
Let's talk - he gives us a chance to redistribute all our talents from scratch.

MY METHOD OF TALENT DISTRIBUTION, WHICH I CONSIDER TO BE THE MOST EFFECTIVE.

Educational thread.

"Fortitude" - 2nd level
Deflecting arrows-2nd level
Knife throwing-1st level
Parry-1st level

Then I rocked the warrior branch.
Protection-1st level
Footwork-2nd level
Power-2 level
Mill-2nd level.

After this, the alchemist branch focuses on intoxication and the resulting bonuses

Sintez-1y
Elixir Specialist-1st
Reaper-1st
Catalysis-2nd
Oil specialist-1st
Taster-2nd
Metathesis-2nd
Condensation-1st
Mutant-1st
Magnification-1st

Then the sorcerer branch:
Magic power-1
Improved Quen-2
Reflection-1st
Igni-1st
Irden-1st
Magic power of life-1st
Sense of Magic-1st

Bottom line.
We get a dexterous witcher, cunningly avoiding attacks with somersaults, wielding a sword well and “painfully”, with a pumped-up Quen and a bunch of special abilities, which allows him to feel comfortable in an average battle.
But once he drinks the elixirs
(considering the number of ingredients in the game, you can constantly walk under them),
when intoxicated, we get a sick psycho who can withstand serious blows and very actively increases the adrenaline scale.
And when using adrenaline, not only Berserk damage is activated, but also the Heliotrope sign, which allows strong opponents slowed down by Heliotrope to be killed in a couple of Berserker hits, taking out the entire squad or flock during the duration of the sign, even without receiving damage and still under the active Quen, according to which God forbid you hit someone from behind - the response from the shield will severely punish the scoundrel who loves to meanly hit him in the back... =)

Some games are so good that you can polish them almost endlessly in order to make something out of an already great game, candy. In this sense The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings occupies a unique, distinctive position compared to other projects in the category of story-driven open-world role-playing games.

The situation is such that each new patch brings something truly worthwhile to the world of the Witcher. Since the time of the first part, developers from CD Projekt RED have made it a tradition with each update to introduce into the game not only technical changes, but also new adventures of the white wolf - Geralt of Rivia, a professional lover of women and monster slayer. Actually, the Polish developers decided not to abandon this tradition in continuing the adventures of the Witcher in the 2nd part. At the time of writing this article, version 2.1 update has already been released. So on this occasion I want to say the following: it was not in vain that I waited for the release of all these patches, because only now The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings stopped seeming a little crude and unfinished project. Both new small quests and interesting arcade modes (like the same arena) have appeared. In this simple way, you should understand that this review was written under the impression of a completely different and updated version 2.1, and not the one that was released on May 17 last 2011. However, then I only played for 3 and a half hours and was satisfied. But only now, when all these patches came out, did I decide to play the game to the end and finally get through the review.

Everything ingenious is simple

The storyline continues the story exactly from the moment where the previous part ended. As we remember, at the end Foltest was assassinated by a killer with strange eyes. Geralt miraculously saved the king. A month has passed since then. The white wolf Geralt is now the personal mascot and bodyguard of the King of Temeria, Foltest. In a word, life seems to be a success, but everything is perfect only in fairy tales. In the end, Foltest is killed... And the witcher Geralt rushes in search of the killers of kings.

Of course, you will say that there is nothing special in the plot. I partly agree. But here there is a special scenario presentation of the plot, which is not found in any other role-playing game. Even Dragon Age: origin It just pales in comparison to this background. Oh The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim there is nothing to even say in the presence of the witcher, because there is not even a plot as such - you don’t notice it. Therefore, the second Witcher has some similarities only with BioWare games. Because here, as in the same Mass Effect, there is a plot point - it is also the founder of everything that happens during the passage.

One of these special innovations in plot presentation is the “book” approach to writing quests. What is surprising is that not a single task ever has a description of the following type: create a silver sword, find 10 plants, etc. All this is presented in the form of a story, as if you were reading a book, and not a description of a quest. For example: “Having obtained a new silver blade, Geralt became happier. Finally, our hero had everything a real witcher needs! So Geralt set about solving his own and other people’s problems with new strength.” So, wherever in another role-playing game there would be a boring description or ordinary conversation, here the Witcher includes a whole movie for us.

If it makes sense to compare The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings with other games, it is only with Mass Effect, since otherwise the Witcher will be an order of magnitude higher than other similar games. Just don't think that CD Projekt RED and BioWare create their own virtual worlds in completely different genres and time frames. Still, both of these games are, first of all, plot-oriented role-playing projects, that is, the main thing in them is roleplaying, and not leveling up and everything else like that, which, in general, manifests the very factor that makes them to some extent equals each other.

The only thing in which the novice Polish developers are inferior to the masters from BioWare is only in the quality of animations during ordinary dialogues. There is not enough facial expressions and more character movements. But otherwise the plot has gained weight (compared to the previous part) and the epic nature of what is happening, which is also beneficial. In addition, we were given the opportunity to decide for ourselves and then be responsible for our actions. Geralt's story is our story. It is full of surprises and interesting events that depend directly on our choices. Oddly enough, but it is we who decide the history and fate of not only Geralt, but also in many ways influence the world around us.

Manic detailing

As for the locations, they are almost the most beautiful and believable of all that the gaming industry has ever seen in role-playing games. The picture on the screen amazes not so much with its graphics, but with its manic attention to detail. Although both are at the highest level. Moreover, the number of locations is not very large, but they themselves are large enough to have room for walking and exploring. I note that, over time, the location of key objects is perfectly remembered in such a way that you can even find exactly the place you need on the map without a marker on the map. this moment. The design is simply amazing! For which special thanks to the developers.

Combat, upgrade your hero!

The combat system has changed in some ways. Not everything is smooth and practical, but it’s where it’s at better than that one, which was in the previous part, although the old combat would have been good here. However, let's not remember the old, it's better to talk about the present. Or rather about what the second Witcher's combat system ultimately is? Let me immediately draw your attention to the fact that she has a lot to boast about.

Oddly enough, the combat turned out to be very beautiful, sometimes interactive and smart. Reminds me a bit Assassin's Creed, but it just reminds - no more. In fact, the entire combat system is tied to your intuition, and not to the correct button presses, although sometimes correctness is also necessary. Honestly, if you think about it, everything was done at a decent level. I would especially like to note its convenience. I haven’t seen such correct placement of buttons on a keyboard for a long time. In literally a split second you can decide which blow to use next and immediately implement your plan. With the left mouse button we apply simple quick blows, and with the right mouse we apply long, strong and heavy blows. Q - use of signs, E - place a block, R - throw, for example, a bomb... Everything is quite simple. I'm glad that the developers didn't simplify anything. Geralt makes all his combat movements only after we press a certain button and does nothing automatically, as is customary to do today in many other games, when they almost play themselves. True, some people have the opinion that it is only interesting to play on an easy difficulty level. I hasten to disappoint you, nothing of the kind! It is quite possible to become a master at high levels, scattering enemies left and right. The main thing is diligence and desire to learn the combat skills of a witcher. After all, you are playing here, and not the game itself, as you are used to and have been spoiled by other projects.

Combat skills have a strong influence on the chosen direction of leveling up the hero. In total, there are 4 paths of development, and it’s impossible to get everything to the end. Therefore, it is best to focus on one direction rather than pumping everything up little by little. One branch is responsible for basic witcher skills, but has nothing special in itself. The other branch is a magical direction - the path of the sorcerer. But one of the most important branches is alchemy, since knowledge of making elixirs and taking them in a timely manner can often save Geralt’s life. However, in comparison with the previous part, elixirs now need to be taken before the battle, but not at any time, which brings the witcher even closer to his book prototype. There is another, final branch - the path of the swordsman. Having upgraded this area, you will see a real master and professional of sword fighting. Geralt will knock down arrows from a distance and reflect blade blows from any direction.

In addition, there are separate combo attacks, when the witcher deals with opponents in a particularly colorful way. Here, your development path does not matter, since Geralt has both techniques for magical attacks and for the sword path in his arsenal. True, there is one small blemish on the part of the developers. All spectacular techniques do not occur in the place where they were activated and the hero is currently located, but a little nearby in the form of a video insert. After the reception, the witcher somehow miraculously finds himself back where he should be. Such movements spoil a little general impressions from the combat system, but, nevertheless, you should not pay attention to such a small flaw on the part of CD Projekt RED.

Few people remember, but there is another branch of combat skills - stealth. There is no progress in this direction. However, in some tasks you can slip through the guards silently, eliminating everyone from behind. Sneaking forward, Geralt leans against the wall, from where he watches the enemies from around the corner. Then he assesses the situation, patrol routes - suddenly Geralt is noticed and the stealth comes to an end. There’s nothing better than good old blades! Just as there is nothing special about silent passage. Here the only question is the preferences of the player, who is sometimes allowed to choose the method of passage.

Yes, we almost forgot to mention hand-to-hand combat. However, there is only one thing worth knowing about it - there is no one equal in strength and skill who can resist the witcher Geralt, since simpler and easier entertainment in the game simply does not exist. That is, the witcher entered the ring, the QTE started, victory was in his pocket. By the way, fist fights are very in a simple way fill your pockets with gold.

The Way of the Witcher

The path of a witcher has never been easy. It was especially difficult at first for beginners, I mean that category of players who missed the previous game, where everything was explained about the use of signs, mutagens and other elixirs. For some reason, CD Projekt RED decided that there was no need to chew everything over a second time. As a result, beginners had to play by chance, trial and error. After all, at first the second part lacked even a simple training mode, which was only added over time with a patch. Therefore, only fans of Andrzej Sapkowski, or players familiar with the first part of the game, knew all the intricacies of witcher life. We were never told that “Swallow” is needed for health regeneration, and “Cat” is needed for better visibility in the dark. On the one hand, this is a serious miscalculation on the part of the developers. But on the other hand, it’s time to start moving your brains, and not wait for hints from the game during the passage. That's exactly what the developers did, they created serious game, where you really need to think and decide what to do.

In conclusion, I note that the game can find a huge number of shortcomings in almost every component. But in the end you find much more positive.

If you still haven't played this game, here are a few minutes of gameplay footage that should convince you that the game is worth your time. In addition, on our resource you can find other videos for the game.

Genre Role-playing game (RPG)

Role-playing games are a difficult genre, requiring a particularly painstaking approach on the part of developers. And the main audience of such projects is very picky. But the first “The Witcher” was a real shot for the Polish company CD Projekt. The authors were able to offer players an interesting, addictive narrative with non-trivial tasks and many options for solving them. The harsh world of The Witcher pleased with its adult approach and the complexity of choices, when the balance between black and white was vague, and instead of playing the role of the savior of the world and the darling, the player often had to choose only the lesser evil. The seasoned monster hunter with white hair and cat-like eyes was especially liked by domestic players. Of course, the certain popularity of Andrzej Sapkowski’s works among fantasy lovers also played a role. But the main thing is that the authors were able to correctly use the rich literary base and create an interesting virtual adventure in this colorful world. Therefore, players were eagerly awaiting the continuation. And it completely lived up to expectations.

The events of The Witcher 2 continue the storyline of the first part. Geralt, in the role of personal bodyguard of King Foltest, finds temporary rest and peace in the arms of the much prettier Triss (thanks to the new engine).

But the ruler of Temeria does not like peace. All tormented by thoughts about the people and the kingdom, he begins a war with the aim of seizing his offspring from the rebellious mother, who joined the alliance of opponents of Foltest. In general, the situation in the Northern Kingdoms is very tense and it will only get worse as the game progresses. After a successful siege of the castle (which, of course, would not have been so successful without the intervention of the protagonist), the king finds death at the hands of a mysterious killer, who suddenly turns out to be Geralt's comrade in the craft. The witcher-killer runs away, leaving our hero's guard with a bloody sword, for which he is thrown into prison as the main suspect and an old acquaintance of Roche begins our interrogation.

Actually, the game begins with the scene in the prison and the interrogation - it’s hard to resist the analogies with Dragon Age 2 here. The events leading up to the conclusion are revealed through a series of flashbacks during a conversation with Roche. Then we have to escape and personally search for the king’s killer.

From the very first minutes, the game pleases with the variability in the passage and the influence of small side events on the main plot thread. Even a simple interrogation can be played out a little differently: in a dialogue with Roche, you can portray a tough guy or play old friends and have a nice chat over a glass of something strong. Helped a random guy with advice before the battle - and he will help you quietly get to the ship when escaping; saved the life of the young baronet - he will show you the secret exit in the dungeon; protected the townspeople from the soldiers - they will thank you in another chapter.

And then there are more and more such situations. There is always a choice, whether it is side quests or about the main narrative. Moreover, in the world of The Witcher, the choice is always difficult. The tense situation with racial hatred in society and the abundance of other social conflicts blur the lines between good and bad, especially when the personalities around us are mostly controversial and ambiguous. If you want to help a seemingly decent person close down the shop of a dealer in narcotic incense, it turns out that the customer is actually a bandit. At the same time, the merchant will turn out to be a completely normal and reasonable guy who is ready to shut down the business if his conscience is reached. Is there a rampaging troll roaming the area? It would seem that it would be simpler - kill him and be done with it. But who will help the villagers repair the bridge? How to decide the fate of two elderly war criminals - hand them over to certain death, release them on all four sides, or hand them over to the authorities?

The main storyline has many branches, and our relationships with other characters have a direct impact on future events. The developers are talking about 16 different endings. Of course, many of them will be very similar, but such diversity is still amazing. Our path from the beginning to the final credits is a branchy tree, each branch of which has several more branches. Although in total we have two radically different storylines. In the first chapter you have to make a choice on which side to take and with whom to follow the king’s killer. Which path you choose will change not only the story of Geralt’s adventures, but also the fate of other characters and all the northern kingdoms.

Each key plot decision is not easy, because Temeria is inhabited by far from being altruists and humanists. There is a web of intrigue and conspiracies around us. Foltest is not the only victim of blue bloods. Someone is taking the rulers out of the game, adding fuel to the fire of local squabbles and confrontations. And while clouds are gathering over all lands, local rulers still continue to intrigue each other. Tricky game the sorceress only makes the situation worse. Trust in this world is a very relative concept. Other characters are only trying to manipulate Geralt, using him for their own purposes. Friends change masks, and many events take on a different meaning at the end, when the veil of secrecy over all the conspiracies is partially lifted.

The only true comrades are the bard Dandelion and the gnome Zoltan Khivay, who sometimes act as our informants or assistants.

Besides these eternal companions of our wanderer, only two characters inspire trust and respect - Vernon Roche and Yorvid, leader of the Scoia'tael rebel elves. It is between them that the main choice in the game has to be made - with whom to go in search of the killer and whose side to take. They represent two opposing camps: by choosing Roche as a companion, we will acquire official status and support from the authorities, but traveling with Yorvid will transfer us to the category of underground fighter and rebel. The choice of side determines what events we will take part in. Already in the second chapter we will find ourselves on different sides of the “barricades” and in different locations. Both characters are fanatical but honest. One fights against forest bandits who are killing people, and the other fights to resurrect the former greatness of the elven race. Each of them is a simple warrior, each is right in his own way, but each sees the world only for one of his races.

In addition to searching for killers, Geralt will simultaneously try to regain his memories of the past (the first part began with amnesia of the main character), and he will partially succeed in this. Moreover, some other characters, in particular the main antagonist, can also help in returning memory, which only adds spice to the current situation.

Since Geralt regained his witcher knowledge in the first part, in the sequel we will have to play as an already pumped up hero. Well, really, the scriptwriters shouldn’t come up with a second amnesia in order to re-learn how to use a sword, magic and alchemy. However, this is not what surprises the player from the first minutes. The combat system has changed dramatically in The Witcher 2. Instead of a high camera with the ability to view tactically, pause and different stances with fighting styles, we actually see third-person action.

Instead of clicking on targets, we now directly control all the hero’s movements. The battle is based on the skillful use of rolls and blocks, after which we deliver counterattacks and finish off the enemy. When there are a large number of enemies, auto-targeting works, and Geralt himself chooses who to strike first. Sometimes this doesn't work exactly as intended, but overall the choice depends on the position of the camera and focusing it on a different enemy will change the target. The movements are still filigree and virtuosic. Watching the hero fence, lunge and jump is a pleasure. But the first part, in terms of movements in battle, was superior to any action, because the developers copied movements from real fencing masters using motion capture technology.

There are still two swords in the arsenal - a steel one for people and a silver one for monsters and magical creatures. The axes present in the game play the role of simple junk, because Geralt handles any non-standard weapon ineptly. There are also throwing knives, various bombs and traps. All this also plays an important role in the gameplay. In fights you constantly have to combine all the aids and magic. For example, traps greatly simplify dealing with monsters, grenades are good against crowds of enemies, and magic signs will come to the rescue in any situation.

A successful combination of signs is the key to a successful and quick battle. At the right moment, someone can be hit with a fireball, thrown back with telekinesis, or caught in a magical trap strong enemy, to get close to him from behind and deliver a more effective blow. You can temporarily turn an enemy into an ally, and he will fight with his former comrades. You can throw a gas grenade into the crowd and set it on fire underneath. The Quen sign is very effective, creating a protective field around the hero. Once upgraded, it not only absorbs damage, but also reflects it onto enemies - an indispensable thing in battles with armored knights and bosses.

Potions also play an important role. There are no usual healing cones here, take medicines prescribed to Geralt strictly before meals, that is, before battle. Before a difficult fight, we enter meditation mode and pump up the hero with additional stimulants that increase the speed of health regeneration, damage, durability and other characteristics.

The character development scheme is simple. The main characteristics in the form of strength, dexterity and other things are no longer there. There is only a skill tree and we buy new talents and improvements in it. At first, we have only one branch available with general witcher talents, and then three specialized branches of fighter, mage and alchemy open. They will give us the opportunity to increase our health, energy reserves, the power of magic signs, learn combo attacks, improve blocking and defense parameters, increase the likelihood of critical damage and the duration of the effects of potions, at the same time improving their effectiveness. The talent points received will not be enough for all this, but it is quite possible to cover several areas at once. At the end of each branch, a completely new skill is unlocked. You can learn the sixth sign, which is especially lethal and effective against clusters of enemies, or learn a combat technique that allows you to destroy up to three targets at once. In reality, it looks like this - first we gain rage during the battle, and then we just activate the miracle technique and watch from different angles a short video of how Geralt enchantingly deals with his victims.

Manipulations with the choice of magic and auxiliary weapons in battle have been simplified to one convenient radial menu, in which you can quickly select what you need. There is no pause, but the passage of time slows down when calling up the menu, giving the player time to get his bearings.

There are game episodes in which nothing depends on skills. For example, the fight with the monster on the river in the first chapter - clean water an action game that only requires us to dodge the tentacles in time and use magic traps. On the field of the ghostly battle, we have to try on the role of ordinary soldiers and participants in this massacre, which also deprives us of all of Geralt’s special abilities. But all such episodes are made quite interestingly, excitingly, and fit organically into general history and add variety to the gameplay.

In boss fights, the player is sometimes presented with QTE scenes. In a fight with the already mentioned octopus monster, such inserts will deliver more problems than the battle itself with him. The button icons are too small, and against a bright background you don’t have time to notice what you need to press. It can be frustrating when you have to replay because you pressed the wrong key. If you also have a problem with the monster Keiran, then here's a little hint: before hitting the bridge support, you should press Spacebar.

In other cases, QTE will not cause any problems. And the already familiar fist fights in taverns are completely built on such a gameplay element, which turned out to be very appropriate - it turned out simple, but spectacular.

By the way, when mentioning tavern amusements, it should be noted that playing dice has not gone away either. Arm wrestling has also appeared - you can wrestle with many NPCs on your arms. And just like with dice and battles, defeating all opponents will bring your bonus in the form of some valuable item.

A certain semblance of stealth also appeared. It works only in cases where it is provided for by the script, although often we are not obliged to do so. You can go ahead, fighting your way to the desired target, or you can sneak up and quietly take down enemies, periodically hiding behind walls and shelters.

New armor and swords can be collected from craftsmen using blueprints obtained or purchased in advance. Bombs and traps also require blueprints. So in the game there is an abundance of the most different ingredients, which may be needed at the most unexpected moment. An important role is played by collecting herbs and other components for brewing potions. Around us there are always a lot of bushes, flowers or mushrooms that can be used to prepare alchemical infusions according to the appropriate recipes.

The world of the second Witcher is not very large, but rich. In this way the game is reminiscent of the Gothic series. The structure of the locations is very confusing and tricky; there are also dungeons with caves. Some areas, due to their inhabitants, do not immediately become available for exploration, requiring you to slightly raise the hero’s skills and get better weapons.

Visually, the game looks great, without the new-fangled DirectX 11: detailed textures, lush vegetation swaying in the wind, voluminous earth and stone walls of buildings thanks to relief texturing, realistic time of day changes, excellent lighting and weather effects.

The draw distance is small, but the backgrounds are skillfully hidden thanks to blurring, which creates the effect of changing the depth of field.

All this splendor is available when you turn on the “exorbitant quality” option. It has the biggest impact on game performance. When activated, a more progressive lighting and shading system is used, anti-aliasing works and the depth of field effect is more aggressive. When this option is turned off, the picture becomes clearer, but the sense of spatial depth is slightly lost. I even got the impression that anti-aliasing and SSAO (available in simple mode) still do not work without activating “exorbitant quality”. But performance without this parameter increases several times. In this mode, the game's requirements are very moderate, and the visual difference with the maximum mode will not be so significant for some. So owners of inexpensive video cards will be able to enjoy the beauty of the game.

In general, the wealth of settings in the game is pleasing. For example, you can disable Motion blur, which you couldn’t get rid of in Metro 2033. Everyone will be able to adjust the game to suit themselves and their system.

The sound design is quite rich. Good musical accompaniment emphasizes the atmosphere. My only complaint is about problems with voice localization during dialogues in the Russian version of 1C: occasionally it happens that the voice in the central channel disappears. But overall, the domestic voice acting is excellent. This is doubly pleasing considering the volume of dialogue in this game.

The localized edition from 1C still found its fly in the ointment. The game doesn't update correctly. To avoid problems with the first automatic update, disconnect from the Internet when installing the patch.

The second Witcher is a beautiful and entertaining game. If the first part was closer to the classic role-playing games from BioWare, then the sequel is a modern project in which the action fits organically into the role-playing system. The fights are spectacular, the combat system is interesting, and the controls are simple and convenient. Dialogues, characters and plot are beyond praise. The diversity is amazing, and there is no such influence of our actions on the development of the plot in any other modern game. The harsh world of vanity, selfishness and hatred constantly confronts us with difficult choices, the consequences of which are not always obvious. The Witcher 2 offers high level replayability, because it’s simply not possible to see the entire game in one playthrough. As a result, it turns out that although the game lasted only three chapters (instead of five for the first part), replaying it a second time will be no less interesting than the first. The new Witcher looks simply gorgeous, in this regard it not only surpasses all role-playing projects recent years, but can easily compete with Crysis 2. You can complain that the game has become “popular” and sometimes slides into the level of a slasher, but you absolutely don’t want to do this - CD Projekt RED offers us a very interesting and exciting adventure. The main thing is that the authors stop at such simplifications and do not turn the series into the third part into something like Mass Effect. In the first days after the release, impressions were spoiled technical problems, but now, with all the patches that have been released, you can absolutely not worry about it and just enjoy the game. A worthy contender for the title of best role-playing game of the year. Of course, Deus Ex and Skyrim are still ahead of us, but now they will have a hard time in the fight for the title of the very best.

A dark, ominous forest... The wounded witcher, Geralt of Rivia, is fleeing from pursuit... He falls... The killers are getting closer and closer...

It's just a dream. Unfortunately, the reality is no less bleak. We are in a prison cell in the dungeon. Two guards start beating us as soon as we regain consciousness. We have scars on our backs from recent beatings, our hands are chained. Soon a man appears who takes us for interrogation.

He gives his name as Vernon Roche. From the conversation it turns out that he commands a special detachment of Temerian troops. If we refuse to cooperate with him, the scaffold awaits us. So there is no choice. We begin the story of what happened before we ended up in the dungeon.

This story can start anywhere... Maybe let's start from the beginning?

Dungeons of La Valette Castle

Roche seems to believe our words; however, we have no witnesses or evidence of innocence. The court will certainly sentence us to death. The Temerian is hinting that he is our only hope. We are free to decide for ourselves how to respond to his proposal. [Choice] [A] If we agree to cooperate, Roche will help us escape from the dungeon. [Q] If we decide to attack him, death awaits us. Faced with this choice, we agree to help find the killer. Moreover, this is the only way to clear our name from accusations. As a result, Roche leaves us the key to the shackles, and then we are taken back to the cell.

After the interrogation we are back in the cell. Fortunately, we were able to convince Roche of our innocence, and now we can free ourselves from the shackles. But how to get out of the cell? [Choice] [A] You can use Vernon's key, and then the guards will enter the cell to put us back in shackles. [Q] Or we can provoke the jailers, and then they themselves will enter the cell to show who is in charge. In any case, we are waiting for hand-to-hand combat with two opponents. [Combat] Fist fighting is based on quick key presses (QTE), so this fight won't be too difficult. After defeating the guards, we will find the key to the cell in one of them. The chest outside contains a sword and elixirs: “Cat” and “White Seagull”.

After leaving the cell, we must get out of the dungeon. We go to the door. You can make your way to the exit secretly or kill all the guards you meet. Let's try to make sure we don't get noticed.

There is a guard in the hall ahead. Upon entering, we must hide in the cell on the left and wait until the jailer approaches the door through which we just entered. Then we sneak up behind him and knock him out. Now you can go upstairs.

[Choice] There are two ways to leave the dungeons: [A] through the upper corridors and [B] through the lower corridors. Depending on our choice and what we did with Aryan in the quest “By the Will of the King,” further events will differ from each other.

[A] We find ourselves in a corridor, at the end of which a closed door is visible. To the left is a guard watching the prison cells. We extinguish the torch closest to us, which attracts the attention of the warden. He comes closer and we neutralize him.

We go left, to where the guard came from. A prisoner in one of the cells notices us and starts screaming, which attracts the attention of the guards. We hide in one of the empty cells and, approaching from behind, immobilize the next guard. Then we move on to the next room. Having bypassed the guard, we crouch behind the barrels on the left. We extinguish the torch closest to us and neutralize the unlucky guard who comes to light it. There is another sentry nearby. We are hiding behind the barrels ahead. Attracted by the noise, he comes closer and we deafen him. Now you can move to the next room.

[A1: Arian is alive] We see two guards leading Arian La Valette out of the torture chamber. But the young baron deals with them both. This is where Geralt appears. After a short conversation, we promise to clear the way, and plan to return for Aryan: he is exhausted from torture and will not help us in any way.

[A2: Aryan is dead] If we killed Aryan earlier, we will see how the Nilfgaardian ambassador, Shilard Fitz-Oesterlen, takes Baroness Louise La Valette out of the torture chamber. Then we go upstairs, killing all the guards we meet.

We return for Aryan and go upstairs with him. At one point, the nobleman mentions a secret passage. He opens a secret passage and orders us to leave, saying that he will take care of the rest himself. Then he sets fire to the oil barrels, cutting off our way back. We find ourselves in a corridor that leads us to the exit. Triss is already waiting for us there. Together we run to Roche's ship to go in search of the real killer of King Foltest.

[A2] After defeating the guards, we begin to look for a way out, and sooner or later we find ourselves in a room where we again meet with the Baroness and Shilard Fitz-Esterlen.

After a short conversation, the ambassador offers us his help. In the end, Foltest's death benefited Nilfgaard, and by killing the king we did Emperor Emhyr a favor. Shilyard calls off the prison guards: he tells them that the witcher has escaped and is now somewhere in the dungeon. All the guards immediately rush down, so our way up is clear. After leaving the prison, we go left, where we meet Triss. Together we run to Roche's ship, which is waiting only for us. Since Foltest's killer was clearly helped by the Scoia'tael, we go to Flotsam, where Iorveth's detachment was recently spotted.

[Q] We find ourselves in a corridor, at the end of which a closed door is visible. To the left is a guard watching the prison cells. We extinguish the torch closest to us, which attracts the attention of the warden, whom we successfully neutralize. We go up the stairs on the right. We stun the guard and get close to another one, who is captivated by the elf prisoner. With him we find the key to the door in the corridor below. Having gone down, we open the door, find a hatch behind it and go down. There we will sooner or later find a torture chamber.

[Q1: Arian is alive] If we did not kill Arian La Valette, then the master of affairs will require him to sign a paper stating that this is Arian the father of the baroness's youngest children. We will neutralize the scribe. The executioner notices us, which means we will have to fight him. [Combat] When fighting the executioner, we must remember to block and hit hard. After the victory, we free Aryan and help him get out of the torture chamber. The young nobleman says he will wait for us while we deal with the guards upstairs. You have to do as he says. It's unlikely that we'll be able to sneak up on all the guards and knock them out. Therefore, we take out the sword and prepare for battle. Having killed all the guards, we return for Aryan and help him climb upstairs. At a certain point, the young baron tells us about a secret passage. He opens a secret door and orders us to leave, saying that he will take care of the rest. Then he sets fire to the oil barrels, cutting off our way back. We find ourselves in a corridor that leads us to the exit. Triss is already waiting for us there, and together we run to Roche’s ship to go in search of the real killer of King Foltest.

[B1 Arian is dead] If we killed Arian, then the executioner will seek confessions from his mother, Louise La Valette, demanding that she sign a paper stating that Foltest was not the father of her youngest children. We jump down and neutralize the scribe. The executioner notices us; we will have to fight him. [Combat] When fighting the executioner, we must remember to block and hit hard. After the victory, we free the Baroness, and a few minutes later the Nilfgaardian ambassador, Shilard Fitz-Oesterlen, appears in the torture chamber. At Louise's request, he agrees to help us get out of the dungeons. He goes upstairs, and we follow him at some distance. The ambassador gathers all the guards in one place, while we are hiding nearby. The Nilfgaardian tells the guards that the witcher escaped and was seen below. All the guards immediately rush down, and now our path up is clear. Coming out of the dungeons, we find Triss and go with her to Roche’s ship. The traces of the Scoia'tael, who helped the real killer of Foltest, lead us to Flotsam. That's where we're sailing.

Side quests

Heart of Melitele

Leaving our tent in the Temerian camp, we meet the Rubile from Krinfrid. From the conversation with him it follows that we met with mercenaries before, when we hunted the golden dragon. However, the hunt for monsters was unsuccessful for the Rubiles, and they decided to join Foltest's army. They were joined by a young mercenary nicknamed Small. The Rubails are confident in our skill and ask us to check one amulet. They are going to use it to win a bet: Small has bet that he will survive the assault without armor with only this amulet. [Choice] [A] We can confirm to them that the thing has magical power. [Q] Or you can say that this medallion will not be of any use. Regardless of our choice, the rubiles will soon leave: it’s time for them to prepare for the assault... We will learn about the consequences of our decision later...

[A] While looking for the secret passage to the sanctuary, we will see the body of Small on one of the streets of the city. Rubaila fought without armor, believing that the medallion would protect him. However, life is not much like a fairy tale, and the mercenary paid the highest price for this lesson. We can take the amulet from the guy’s body: he no longer needs magical objects. Later in the game we will have the opportunity to release hidden power amulet.

[B] If we convinced the young Rubail to put on armor, we will meet him at the exit from the La Valette dungeons. In gratitude for the rescue, the guy will distract the guards and give us an amulet as a souvenir. We will still have the opportunity to learn about the secrets of this little thing.

Woe to the vanquished

After talking with Foltest at the sanctuary gates, we will wander around the city in search of the secret passage that the captured priest spoke about. Going down the hill and turning left, we can see what fate awaits the inhabitants of the captured fortress.

A woman who ran out of the house in search of help will be killed right before our eyes. We will have to decide how to respond to such Temerian cruelty. Two soldiers will be waiting for us inside the house: they are looting, not embarrassed by the presence of their owners. Taking the side of the oppressed, we use the Axiy sign to convince or intimidate the soldiers to stop plundering. The rescued townspeople will express their gratitude in just words. However, we can threaten them and extract a few orens from them.

A few houses down the road, a similar situation occurs. The soldiers have barricaded a house with people and are going to set it on fire. We talk to the patrol commander, but he remains adamant. If we want to save civilians from a terrible death, we will have to fight the Temerian. [Combat] It is best to immobilize the enemy with the Yrden sign, and then attack him with a steel sword. After receiving several blows, the commander will ask for mercy and order his soldiers to open the house. We can intimidate the townspeople and get a few orens from them. Otherwise, you will have to be content with words of gratitude.

The story of the oppressed population will end a little later. In Flotsam we will meet relatives of the people we saved. They will come up to us in front of the gate to the shopping district and thank us for our help. If words of gratitude are not enough for us, we can demand more. In this case, we will receive armor and a handful of coins as a reward.

The Wild Hunt and the return of memory

These two tasks are special. They connect the game's plot with the end of Andrzej Sapkowski's saga, allowing us to learn more about Geralt's past. Completing both tasks will give us additional experience points.

Prologue

After the shock that Geralt experiences during interrogation in the dungeons of La Valette Castle, our memory will slowly begin to return. We will see the death of Geralt during the pogrom in Rivia.

First chapter

We will have another vision of our past during the interrogation of Ciaran, an elf from the local squirrel troop. This will happen on the prison barge during the mission “Assassins of Kings”. We will remember the events on Apple Tree Island, when the Wild Hunt kidnapped a person close to us. Triss will offer us help in restoring our memory. Then we can talk about the vision with Dandelion.

We'll have another opportunity to discuss the Wild Hunt (this time with Roche) when we read the story of a patient we found in a destroyed hospital during the quest "In the Claws of Madness." We will also be able to talk to Roche about the Wild Hunt after Cedric’s death, in the quest “Where is Triss?” Finally found in the elven ruins ancient manuscript, dedicated to the Wild Hunt (quest “Assassins of Kings”), we will not only expand our knowledge about the King of the Hunt, but we will also be able to discuss it with Dandelion.

Chapter two

In the second chapter we can learn something new when we find the researcher’s notes in the catacombs in the forest behind Vergen. They are in one of the inlaid cases. We can find ourselves in the catacombs while completing the quests “With a Sinking Heart”, “Eternal Battle” (Iorveth’s path) and “Curse of Blood” (Roche’s path). We can discuss these notes with Dandelion or one of our magician friends.

After talking with Shilyard (quest Royal Blood) or with the assassin (quest “Assassins of Kings”), we will be visited by another vision of the past. We will see Geralt wandering around the world in search of Wild Hunt and a woman kidnapped on Apple Island. Whatever path we choose, sooner or later we will find ourselves in the Nilfgaardian camp (during the quest “Royal Blood”, if we sided with Iorveth, or during the quest “Curse of Blood”, if we decided to support Roche). In the ambassador's tent we will find a book called "Song of the Wild Hunt". After reading it, we will be able to discuss the situation again with Buttercup, or with the pharmacist if we chose the Roche path.

Another piece of memory will return to us when we lose the creature after the battle with Draug (quest “Eternal Battle”). Geralt will understand that he once knew Leto and his people. Together they tried to follow in the footsteps of the Wild Hunt...

Chapter Three

Finding the silver sword of Adan Date in Locke Muinne and discussing the find with the sorcerer and local collector of antiquities, one Lockhart, will give us another opportunity to expand our knowledge of the Hunt. The sword can be found in one of the sealed chests after completing the Gargoyle Contract quest.

The last vision of the past will visit us during a conversation with Leto. We will see Geralt, the sorceress Yennefer, Leto, Zerrit and Egan, who together fight against the Wild Hunt. And also how Geralt sacrifices himself to save his friends.

Assassins of Kings

This is also a special task. It will be automatically updated as you progress through the game, when you complete other tasks, and as the story gradually develops.

This task will tell a story, the first hints of which appeared in the first Witcher. It will allow us to trace the chain of events connecting us with the murderers of kings. The quest begins in the prologue and ends in the third chapter.
