And I ask myself the question: what am I doing to help lighten the burden of hopelessness for these poor people? And how to deal with the heart: with what motives do you do it - out of vanity or out of compassion?

Perhaps many believe that wealthy people do not understand the poor. But as they say, the rich also cry. Gleb and I went bankrupt 3 times, losing everything and starting with a big minus and debts. We have traveled from the valleys to the peaks, and from the peaks to the valleys of weeping... It taught us a lot: resilience, perseverance, courage to use any opportunities, analysis, a more responsible distribution of resources, purposefulness, relationships with people and faith in the best. And that brought us together.

But I understand that not everyone can get on their feet, some cannot, and some do not want to. And it is very important to understand: what will help a person to return, first of all, dignity and the conditions in which he can reveal himself as a person? Because this will be followed by his path of rise from misfortune / poverty to the fullness of life, creating and creating his life.

Yes, we are all happy in the same way, but unhappy in our own way, in different ways. Every poor person has his own reasons for grief and poverty. Someone was born in such a country. Someone got robbed. And someone could not cope with the pain of losing something or someone expensive and valuable. And everything is broken.

Christian morality teaches us that if a person remains indifferent, indifferent to the needs, sorrows, experiences of the people who surround him, then he cannot be a Christian in principle.

But what is the best way to help, so as not to harm "in the Slavic way": to catch up and do good?

At Barsanuphius the Great, Orthodox priest there is such an image: "if a person fell into a pit, do not stretch out your hand to him - stretch out your staff to him." And he explains why. “If you stretch out your hand to him, and instead of getting out of the hole, he pulls you towards him, then you will fall into the same hole. And if you stretched out the staff, then a person who wants to get out of the pit will grab the staff and get out with your help; if the fallen one does not want to get out and pulls the staff towards him, then you will simply let go of the staff.”

A good allegory of how useful it is to help.
But sometimes you can take the most powerful tool of help for a person, but which costs nothing (or rather, it was not paid by us) and extend it to those to whom even a kind word is better than medicine.
The truth is Who the person is. Or rather, who is the Christ within him. And if you look through the prism of this glass, then suddenly we notice that by helping someone who is in trouble of poverty, we are helping Christ himself...

Dear friends, if today you are in difficult situation and my message is about you, I want to say… don’t survive… don’t survive the dream… don’t survive the life… don’t survive the belief in the best…

You don't have to prove to the world that you deserve to live in modern society. The only thing you have to do is live...

Helping your neighbor and those who need help is one of the main postulates of any religion in the world and one of the main principles of humanity as a whole. But, alas, more and more more people forget about him. “Live in such a way that you feel good and comfortable, and beyond the threshold - at least the grass does not grow” - this is the slogan of our century. But a person, one way or another, remains a piece of a single world community, in which about a quarter of the total population lives on the edge of poverty. December 19, International Day for the Poor, was created to remind about this problem and motivate society to take action.

Poverty is not only a state of the wallet

What is poverty? First of all, this is a long forced inability to provide oneself with the necessary for a satisfactory existence. It is not so much the lack of money, but the lack of resources or the ability to use them to ensure daily well-being. According to UN experts, poverty in itself is just the tip of the iceberg, which hides many social and moral problems. Death from malnutrition, not getting timely medical care, the inability to receive a minimum education, feed the children, take care of the elderly and the disabled, aggressiveness, elevated level crime, psychological complexes, constant feeling humiliation, inferiority and hopelessness - this is what accompanies hand in hand poverty in any country in the world.

In the mid-90s, the UN launched a program to help the poor and eradicate poverty, but even such a large organization cannot budge the problem that concerns one and a half billion people on earth. The results so far are only point, not changing the picture as a whole.

And the statistics continue to shock. So, over the past decade, more than 300 million people have died due to poverty in ordinary countries, in peacetime. Every second inhabitant of the planet lives on an amount of no more than two dollars a day (which is no more than $60 a month or 1,200 rubles). Even without going into detailed calculations, it is clear that for such an amount it is impossible to feed and clothe normally, not to mention buying a “corner” or getting an education.

The idea of ​​officially naming December 19 as International Day to Help the Poor came after the results of the next economic development conference in 1995, it became clear that the economy was making huge strides forward, and people continued to die of hunger. The situation is clearly not in accordance with the generally accepted international principle solidarity of people and moral norms of mankind. In his report, Kofi Annan for the first time voiced unique data: “On a global scale, 1 billion people living in developed countries ah, receive 60% of all the income of the world, and three and a quarter billion people in countries with low level earn less than 20% of income. That is, the social inequality of the rich and the poor, sung in fairy tales, is the present of today's humanity.

Since then, the UN has developed dozens of programs to help those in need, eradicate poverty and develop the economies of lagging countries to create more jobs. However, there are many real beggars and homeless people in our country. Campaigning to help starving African children, some volunteers forget about the needy near their home. Real poverty is the absence not only of finances, but also of decent work, comfortable housing, the possibility of obtaining quality education and medical care. What can you do?

International Day for the Poor has as its main purpose to draw attention to the problem of poverty of the world community, and, in particular, the oligarchs, people in leadership positions, as well as all those who do not complain about their own income. However, ordinary people can, if they want, make a feasible contribution to the fight against poverty.

Help those in need: the underprivileged, large families, disabled people, single pensioners, children in shelters and orphanages; the beggars who beg on the streets - in the power of any of us. Give someone unnecessary, but quite decent wardrobe items, donate at least a hundred rubles to someone, come to someone's house - and to the same poor, infirm neighbor - and cook dinner for the unfortunate person. In the end, you can find a fund to help the poor (there are not many of them, but it’s worth looking for), and deduct at least 2-5% of your money every month wages on account of this charitable organization. Even with such small amounts and simple, sincere actions, you will certainly help someone. Do good, because, after all, this is what each of us is born for!
