Inverted triangle symbol. The mystical meaning of the triangle. The triangles symbolizing

The triune nature of the universe: Heaven, Earth, Man; father, mother, child; man as body, soul and spirit; mystical number three; triple, the first of the flat figures. Hence the symbol of the surface in general. The surface consists of triangles (Plato).
The equilateral triangle symbolizes completion.
The triangle with its apex up is solar and has the symbolism of life, fire, flame, heat (hence the horizontal line symbolizing air), masculinity, lingam, shakta, the spiritual world; it is also the trinity of love, truth and wisdom. Means royal majesty and has a red color as a symbol.
The downward facing triangle is lunar and has the symbolism of the feminine, uterus, water, cold, nature, body, yoni, shakti. Symbolizes the Great Mother as a parent. The horizontal line is the earth; its color is white. In the symbolism of the mountain and the cave, the mountain is a masculine, upward-facing triangle, and the cave is a feminine triangle, apex-downward.
The triangle in a circle means the world of forms enclosed in the circle of eternity. The area within such a triangle is the common center of them all and is called the Plain of Truth, on which are the cause, forms and images of everything that was and that will be; they dwell there in a rest that cannot be disturbed, and Eternity surrounds them; and hence time, like a jet of a fountain, flows down into the worlds (Plutarch).

The double triangle, the six-pointed star, the Seal of Solomon, Mogun David, says that every true analogy must be used in reverse, as above, so below. This is a union of opposites, male and female, positive and negative, with the upper triangle white and the lower black, fire and water, evolution and involution, interpenetration, everything is an image of the other, hermaphrodite, a perfect balance of complementary forces, an androgynous manifestation of a deity, a person peering into its own nature, the dual forces of creation, the synthesis of all the elements, with the triangle turned upwards as a heavenly symbol, and downwards - as a symbol of the earth, and together - a symbol of man, as uniting these two worlds. As the Seal of Solomon is the image of the Keeper; it gives spiritual power over matter and is the master of the jinn.
Two triangles lying horizontally and touching the tops are the lunar symbol, the waxing and waning moon, eternal return, death and life, dying and resurrection. The point of contact is the new moon and death. Alchemists have two triangles - essence and substance, forma and materia, spirit and soul, sulfur and mercury, stable and changeable, spiritual strength and bodily existence.
The triangles symbolizing the elements are as follows:
fire (upside down)
water (upside down)
air (facing the truncated top up),
ground (facing the truncated top down).
Two interlocking triangles are the union of opposites, which become liquid fire or fiery water.

For Christians, an equilateral triangle or a triangle formed by three intersecting circles symbolizes the Trinity in unity and equality of its three constituent persons. Triangular radiance is an attribute of God the Father.
For the Egyptians, the triangle symbolizes the Triad. They compare the vertical side (of a right-angled triangle) with a man, the horizontal side with a woman, and the hypotenuse with their offspring: Osiris as the beginning, Isis as the middle or repository, and Horus as the completion (Plutarch). For Freemasons, the triangle symbolizes the Trinity of the cosmos, and its sides are Light, Darkness and Time (the base).

Luminous Delta is an isosceles triangle (with an angle of 108° at the top and two angles of 36° at the base), in the middle of which are the Divine Eye (the visible Sun, giving Light and Life, Logos, Creativity) or the sacred Tetragram I E V E, the name God, which the Jewish high priest said only once a year.
Its three sides are an expression of the formula: Right to think, right to speak, right to do, or the slogan: Freedom, Equality, Fraternity. Three peaks mean: Past, Present, Future, and the whole triangle: Eternity. Three angles: Wisdom, Strength, Beauty - divine, virtues, symbolizing the three kingdoms of nature and the three phases human life: Birth, Life and Death.
The sacred triangle of the Egyptians (the vertical side of which totaled three units of length and symbolized the masculine principle, the base - four units, the symbol of the feminine principle, and the hypotenuse - five units, symbolizing the fruit of their union; the result was an immaculate right angle) was a symbol of the Nature of All That Is. In this triangle, as Plutarch writes, the number Three is perfect and above all the others, Four is a square built on the side of dual duality, and as for the number Five, it belongs, on the one hand, to the Father, and on the other to the Mother, and consists from Triad and Duality. According to Agrippa of Nettesheim, Juno was often denoted by a triangle as the personification of a woman.
For European alchemists, the triangle with its apex up meant the tongue of flame, "male" fire, and the triangle with its apex down meant water, which runs down from the mountain peaks, from the clouds down to the Earth.
If, however, both signs are superimposed on each other, for the Hindus this will mean the union of the creative and generative principles, a sign of the love of the gods for everything earthly, and the earthly - for the gods, a union from which everything and everyone is born forever and ever.

In Europe, this sign was considered to have come from the East, it was known, in particular, as the "Star of David", the hexagon was used in folk beliefs (many taken from both Jews and Gypsies) as protection from evil forces.

For the Egyptians, the triangle symbolizes the Triad. "They compare the vertical side (of a right-angled triangle) with a man, the horizontal side with a woman, and the hypotenuse with their descendant: Oziri as the beginning, Isis as the middle or repository, and Horus as the completion" (Plutarch). The hand of the Egyptians is the union of fire and water, man and woman. The figure of three double triangles, surrounded by concentric circles, symbolizes Khui, the Land of Spirits.
Among the Greeks, the delta symbolizes the door of life, the feminine, fertility. The Indians have triangles with their vertices up and down - these are shakta and shakti, lingam and yoni, Shiva and his Shakti.
Among the Pythagoreans, the equilateral triangle symbolizes Athena as the goddess of wisdom.

One of the simplest geometric symbolic signs; it is based on the first possibility of covering a certain surface with straight lines and constructing a figure. Therefore, not every triangle must necessarily be full of symbolic meaning.
Masonry of slabs laid in a triangular shape is already found during excavations of the ancient settlement of the Stone Age in Lepenski Vir on the Danube (7th millennium BC); triangular cuts on the bone are even older. Their interpretations can be very diverse. First of all, the "female pubic triangle" is mentioned, with its apex down, from which a straight line emerges. In younger cultures, triangles are often found as decorative elements on ceramics, with the traditional interpretation of figures with a point facing downwards, defining them as "symbols of water" (the direction of a falling drop), and figures with a point facing upwards - as a "symbol of fire". " (flame direction).
Nested in each other, they form a closed dualistic system, a hexagonal star (Solomon's seal, hexagram). With ritual magic spells, a triangle is sometimes also inscribed in the magic circle. The sign of the triangle can sometimes be implicitly interpreted as a shamrock (three-leaf clover), which is considered a symbol of the masculine principle.

IN philosophical system Pythagoras, the Greek letter "delta" because of its triangular shape is considered a symbol of the creation of the cosmos, and in Hinduism - a sign of the female life-giving power of the goddess Durga.
In the early Christian era, the Manicheans used the triangle as a symbol of the Trinity, so Augustine the Blessed (354-430) denied it in this context. However, later the triangle managed to gain a foothold as a symbol of the trinity (the hand, head and name of God, to which the eye was then added, as a sign for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; this "eye of God" in the triangle was used in a variety of ways, primarily in baroque times, and in Masonic symbolism, it is an "all-seeing eye" with nine rays - also a symbol of deity. In Jewish Kabbalah, in the book Zohar ("Book of Radiance"), the maxim is given: "In heaven, both eyes of God and his forehead form a triangle, and their reflection forms a triangle in waters".
In pre-Christian times, the philosopher Xenocrates (393-314 BC) considered the equilateral triangle as "divine", the isosceles as "demonic", and the "versatile" as "human" (imperfect). The fascination with the harmony of numbers in the form of proportions of right-angled triangles discovered by Pythagoras (6th century BC) is described by A. Koestler (1963) as follows:
"There is no obvious relationship between the lengths of the sides of a right-angled triangle; however, if we build a square on each side, then the area of \u200b\u200bboth smaller squares will exactly correspond to the area of \u200b\u200ba larger square. due to immersion in the formation of numbers, is it not a reasonable hope that all the secrets of the universe will soon be revealed through numerical ratios?
Based on the symbolism, Masons are also willingly engaged in a right-angled triangle of Pythagoras with side lengths of 3, 4 and 5, which was depicted on training rugs with squares above the legs and hypotenuse and was called "Pythagoras" for short. As the "47th problem of Euclid" it is the symbol of the head of the Masonic lodge and the sign of the senior master.
IN Ancient China the triangle is a "symbol of the feminine", but does not play a significant role in speculative reasoning. In Tibetan Tantrism, the combination of two equilateral triangles in the form of a hexagram represents "penetration into the feminine of the male fire."
In ancient Mexican manuscripts with illustrations, a triangular symbol, similar to the capital A, is the sign of the concept of "year". In Western European art, compositional schemes with a triangle were often used both in architecture and in painting, but especially where the topics of the trinity were discussed. The construction of the Pythagorean triangle by the Egyptians using the tension of the cords and its application to the teaching of geometry.

The symbolic sign "Heart of Hrungnir" of three intertwined triangles.
Viking times. Island of Gotland.
One of the most powerful and versatile symbols. The equilateral triangle is a masculine and solar sign representing deity, fire, life, heart, mountain and ascent, prosperity, harmony and royalty. The inverted triangle, perhaps an older sign, is a feminine and lunar symbol representing the Great Mother, water, fertility, rain, divine grace. The symbolism of the female pubic triangle is sometimes indicated more directly by adding a short internal line drawn from the top. In China, the triangle is almost always a female symbol. Triangles connected by vertices symbolize sexual union. The intersecting triangles that form the hexagram symbolize synthesis, the union of opposites. Lying horizontally, with the base to each other, two triangles represent the waxing and waning moon. As the simplest flat figure based on the sacred number three, the triangle was the Pythagorean sign of wisdom associated with Athena.

Sabaoth from the city of Lysva. Beginning 19th century

In Judaism and Christianity, the triangle is a sign of God. The God of the Christian Trinity is sometimes represented by an eye within a triangle or a figure with a triangular halo. The alchemists used triangles with their vertices pointing up and down as signs of fire and water. More generally, linear triangles or compositions shaped like a triangle can represent triads of gods or other tripartite concepts.

The figure of the Hanged Man, as it were, reflects the dancing figure on the 21st card. In his crossed legs we recognize the four (cross). His arms, shoulders and head form a triangle. Since the three is considered a divine number, and the four is earthly, the pose of the Hanged Man symbolizes suffering, the state before Salvation: the divine is hidden under the earth.

In contrast, the 21st Arcana is a state of liberation, Salvation: the divine (triangle) is above the earthly (cross). This symbolism consistently follows from the previous, twentieth card of the Court, where the divine (three people) is liberated from the earthly (a four-cornered grave).
In European alchemy, a green dragon or lion means a strong solvent, such as aqua regia, and its sign is an upside-down (“female”) triangle in combination with R. Due to the lack of a unified system of symbols in some sources, a green dragon can mean as in China, the element is mercury (see Mercury).
Five-pointed star (Pentalpha, pentacle, triple triangle of Pythagoras)
Seal of Solomon, hexagram Double triangle, six-pointed star, Seal of Solomon, Mogun David Six-pointed star. The symbol of A.K. was perceived by the eclectic symbolism of Freemasonry, where it correlated with
Other symbols of the Trinity: throne, book and dove (strength, intelligence, love); three intertwined fish or three fish with one head; three eagles or lions; three suns; a triangle with an eye inside or three stars; three superimposed circles or arches within a circle; shamrock or cross of three leaves.
In accordance with the doctrine of the "four elements", four trigons (triangles) of three signs were defined
- fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius;
- earth: Bull, Virgo, Capricorn;
- air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius;
- Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
In China, the lingam is called Kuei; it is an oblong piece of jade bounded by a triangle. Often the seven stars of the constellation Ursa Major can be seen engraved on the Kuei, probably symbolizing space and time (i.e. the seven directions of space and the seven days of the week).
The first letter of a large number of alphabets. It is of Phoenician origin and is most often depicted as an inverted triangle. Numeric value- unit.

The magic triangle of the Christian Theosophists is the famous "abracadabra" to which they attributed extraordinary properties. Used as a magic formula, this word was usually inscribed in or lined up as an inverted triangle (RATP) as follows:
For this universal principle of Hermetic philosophy, the alchemists used as a sign a cross (a symbol of the material world) and a triangle with an edge turned upwards - the hieroglyph of the element of fire.
The union symbols are all paired oppositions, perfect circle, intersecting circles, double triangle, androgyne, tangled trees, unicorn horn, yin-yang, lingam and yoni.
It is important that in the geometric symbolism of the cosmos, all round shapes are associated with the sky or heavenly, all squares - with the earth, and all triangles (with a stone on top) - with fire and with the desire for the heavenly, inherent in human nature. Therefore, the triangle also symbolizes the interaction between the earth (the material world) and the sky (the spiritual world). The square corresponds to the cross formed by the four Cardinal Points (6). And, of course, the pyramid has a square in plan and a triangle in cross section.
The arched vault itself is nothing more than a triangle c. rounded sides, and it has all the meanings of the triangle symbolism described above (14, 46). The flaming arch, as the name suggests, is a symbol of fire, and one could see in the evolution of Gothic forms in the 15th century a return to the apocalyptic meanings so important in Romanesque iconography (46).
An important role in architecture is played by the geometric symbolism of the cosmos: all round shapes express the idea of the sky, the square is the earth, the triangle symbolizes the interaction between the earth and the sky.
The triangular halo is the property of God the Father. As musical instrument the triangle is sometimes an attribute of Erato (one of the MUSES).
The Indian Sri Yantra Mandala can be considered in this regard as a complicated and improved rearrangement of this basic structure (of nine mutually intersecting, mutually penetrating triangles within a multi-layer frame). As hexagrams, 64 combinations of I-ching trigrams, consisting of six lines each, formed by discontinuous and continuous lines and known in Ancient China, can also appear.

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the eye (inscribed in a triangle) symbolizes Jehovah. As applied to a person, it is a symbol of moral consciousness.
In Christian iconography, the eye - in the center of the sun's rays or in a triangle with the top pointing upwards - is a well-known symbol of divine omnipresent power or the Trinity.
In Masonic symbolism, the "all-seeing eye" in a triangle and a wreath of rays, which corresponds to the aforementioned symbol of the Trinity, is located above the master's chair in many lodges and should remind of the wisdom and vigilance of the Creator penetrating into all secrets, the "Great Builder of all Worlds"; the eye is sometimes also called the "eye of providence."
In the later period of Renaissance painting, the Eye of God in a triangle was used as a symbol of the Holy Trinity. The radiant eye in the triangle inside the circle indicates the Trinity of God.
Other mountain symbols are the triangle, cross, crown, star, and steps or stairs.
The instructions given by the priests on the construction of the temple came to the god Thoth. The prototype of the temple is a reed hut with a rounded roof and a courtyard placed in front of it, at the entrance to which there are two poles with a triangular scarf on each (later with a sign-picture to designate a god). Later added to four (there were even eight on the pylons of the state temple in Karnak) pillars (masts) with flags, they had the meaning of averting misfortune.
Tools (square, compasses, triangle, hammer, etc.) are symbolically subordinated to the construction of such an ideal temple in honor of the "almighty builder of the entire universe", and the individual as a "cubic stone" must be "immured" ("fitted") into the union builders. The lodge meeting room is also referred to as the "temple".

A significant part of the modern population of the Earth has any means of transport. IN developed countries automobiles are especially common. Consequently, at some point there was an urgent need to create an effective regulation of the increasingly intensive traffic. Was created international system signs. Currently, the whole variety of such symbols is divided into several main categories. Let's consider some of them.

warning signs

This category is distinguished by the fact that a significant part of the designations is framed by a red triangle. Thus, they seem to focus the attention of the road user on a possible danger, which, in turn, points to them. Of course, the designation system includes the most common options for dangerous sections of the road. Movement along them requires maximum concentration and timely adoption of measures to stabilize the situation. For example, this may be an intersection with an iron traffic control with a traffic light, dangerous turns, road surface features, permitted movement of pedestrians, repair work, the possibility of animals appearing, and so on. In the event that you saw in the red triangle, then you should remember that such a designation includes the so-called "other hazards". These are all kinds of threats to further successful and stable movement that are not provided for by other symbols.

Priority signs

It should be remembered that not only in the previous category there is such a symbol as a red triangle. The sign is also included in the priority group. Here, a similar symbol also serves to attract the attention of the driver. vehicle. The red triangle in the context of this category warns of the intersection of the main road with the secondary, as well as the junction of the latter. It is important to remember that rapprochement can occur both on the right side and on the left. Let's look at another important question. What does the upside down red triangle mean? A similar symbol is called “Give way” and means that a traffic participant heading for an intersection with a main road along a secondary road must take all necessary actions so as not to interfere with the movement of other drivers.

Feature of the sign "red triangle"

Each road user should remember that the geometric figure described above is found only in the two groups presented earlier: warning and priority signs. In all the rest: prescriptive, prohibitive, informational, service, designations of additional information and special instructions - it is customary to use rectangles, squares and circles.

Location

As mentioned earlier, the red triangle is most often found in warning signs, the main task of which is to alert the driver to possible dangerous situations on the road. Therefore, the necessity of its installation at a certain distance before the beginning of the suspicious area is described. In line locality this value is from 50 to 100 meters, and outside it varies from 150 to 300 m. individual cases additional installation of a special plate called "Distance to the object" is provided, where the required value is displayed. In addition, if the hazardous area has enough great length, it is also possible to install the sign "Scope of action", which is installed under the corresponding warning symbol.

Important to remember

If any sign is located on yellow background, which means that it is temporary. With regard to warning symbols, this may mean that the danger has arisen relatively recently, and the road authorities have not yet had time to take action to eliminate it. If you saw a red triangle on a yellow background and identified it as something, it is likely that repairs are being carried out somewhere along your route. They were the reason for the change in movement on this section of the road. Of course, we should not forget that in the presence of ordinary and repair signs, it is imperative to comply with the requirements of the latter.

Release form

Currently, all signs present in the rules of the road are made on a metal base, which is covered with a special retroreflective compound. This makes the sign visible at any time of the day. In some cases contour lines may be used. LED lights. It is provided either by miniature incandescent lamps or by the more common LEDs.

The triangle is one of the first geometric figures that began to be used in the ornaments of ancient peoples. In ancient Egypt, it was rectangular and was the embodiment of the triad of spiritual will, love and the higher mind of man.

The triangle is a symbol of the triune nature of the universe: Heaven, Earth, Man; father, mother, child; man as body, soul and spirit; mystical number three; triple, the first of the flat figures. Hence the symbol of the surface in general. The surface consists of triangles (Plato).

The equilateral triangle symbolizes completion.

In the ancient East, the triangle was revered as symbol of the nature of all things. A triangle with a vertex connected to the same geometric figure was used by pharmacies as an emblem of the time cycle.

The hermeneutic tradition knows many types of triangles with different interpretations.

Yantra of Tara

Triangle pointing down, is lunar and has the symbolism of the feminine, uterus, water, cold, nature, body, yoni, shakti. Symbolizes the Great Mother as a parent. The horizontal line is the earth; its color is white. In the symbolism of the mountain and the cave, the mountain is a masculine, upward-facing triangle, and the cave is a feminine triangle, apex-downward. In many yantras of the goddesses, a triangle is placed in the middle, point down with a dot.

Upside down triangle, is solar and has the symbolism of life, fire, flame, heat (hence the horizontal line symbolizing air), masculinity, lingam, shakta, spiritual world; it is also the trinity of love, truth and wisdom. Means royal majesty and has a red color as a symbol.

Hexagram. When it is superimposed on the sign of the feminine principle described above, we will get the Hindu emblem of the union of the creative and generative principles - the hexagram.

In the Indian tradition, such a symbol was also interpreted as a sign of the love of the gods for everything earthly. In Europe, this geometric figure was known as the Star of David.

A triangle inscribed in a circle represents the world of forms enclosed in the circle of eternity. Plutarch, describing this geometric figure, called the space bounded by the sides of the triangle, the plain of truth, on which are located the images of everything that was and will be. Triangles can also act as a lunar symbol, then they are located horizontally and touch their vertices. common point of these triangles symbolically denotes death and the new moon.

IN Buddhist tradition the two interlocking triangles represent pure flame and the Three Jewels of the Buddha.

Trinity and triangle

Since the early Christians, the triangle has been a symbol of the Holy Trinity. The equilateral triangle was interpreted as equality and a single divine essence of God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. Sometimes this symbol was made up of three intertwined fish. The symbol of the Trinity, according to the Catholic tradition, was made up of three small triangles inscribed in one large one with circles at the tops. These three circles mean the trinity, but each circle is independent and perfect in itself. This scheme illustrated the principle of the trinity and, at the same time, the individuality of each component of the Holy Trinity.

Seal of Solomon

The Seal of Solomon is another name for David, formed by superimposing two triangles on top of each other, i.e. hexagrams. According to legend, King Solomon with the help of this sign controlled the spirits enclosed in a copper vessel. It is believed that the seal of Solomon is a powerful amulet that can protect its owner from the influence of evil spirits.

Kepler triangle

At the beginning of the XVII century. The famous astronomer Kepler made a diagram of the conjunction of the planets Saturn and Jupiter. So in astronomy they call the location of the planets, in which, for an earthly observer, the ecliptic longitudes are equal to zero, and the celestial bodies themselves are close to each other or even overlap. Kepler presented this phenomenon in the form of a triangle that rotates around the zodiac circle, making a complete revolution in 2400 years.

Triangle in ancient architecture

In the ancient tradition, the triangle with its apex up symbolized the aspiration of matter to the spirit. Therefore, the pediments of ancient Greek temples in the deepest antiquity were made triangular and decorated in every possible way. Unlike later, more northerly European buildings, the presence of a gable roof was not caused by climatic conditions. IN Ancient Greece was warm climate and there was no snow in winter.

Triangles on vessels

In the Neolithic era, among the early agricultural peoples, triangles in ornaments symbolized air, earth and fire. They are one of the most ancient symbols associated with agricultural work, nature and its calendar cycles.

Constellation Triangulum

The exact origin of the name of this constellation is unknown. It got its name in the Ancient East, it was known and used in navigation by Phoenician sailors. For them, it symbolized the sacred stone of a pyramidal shape. The triangle was one of the 48 classical constellations of antiquity. The ancient Greeks believed that this was the Nile Delta transferred to the sky, which indicates the Egyptian roots of the name of the constellation. Already in the New Age, the constellations of the Southern Triangle and Square were distinguished in the starry sky.

Eye in a triangle

The symbol, graphically representing an eye inscribed in a triangle, called the “eye of providence” or the “all-seeing eye”, appeared in Europe in the 17th century. It is believed that it goes back to the solar eye of Horus of the ancient Egyptians. This sign was widely used in baroque architecture, decorating the pediments of luxurious Catholic churches. In the 19th century, it also appeared on Orthodox churches, for example, on the pediment of the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Christianity considered it as a symbol of the Holy Trinity. At the same time, this symbol was also used by Masons, who interpreted it as a symbol of the absolute, enlightenment and higher knowledge. For Freemasons, the “eye of providence” is located above the chair of the master of the lodge, in order to thus remind of the all-pervading wisdom of the Creator in all the secrets.

Three connected triangles denote the inviolable unity of the three persons of the Trinity.

The triangles symbolizing are as follows:

fire (upside down)
water (upside down)

Triangle in a circle means the world of forms enclosed in the circle of eternity.

Three connected triangles denote the inviolable unity of the three persons of the Trinity.

The triangle is the first geometric figure found in ancient ornaments.
In Egypt he symbolized the triad of spiritual will, love-intuition and the higher mind of a person, that is, his personality or soul.

In hermetic ideography a triangle with a ve^dagana directed upwards symbolizes Fire (a flame rising up) and corresponds to the idea of ascension, spirituality, Dryness and Warmth, Summer, Red color, Iron, the sign of Leo, the month of March and the evangelist Mark.

Triangle with a horizontal line considered passive and means Air, moderate Fire, corresponding to Warmth and Humidity, Autumn, Blue, Tin, Jupiter, Eagle, Scorpio and John the Evangelist.

inverted triangle means a cup ready to receive Water, and corresponds to the feminine, passivity, Wisdom, which gives rise to the Main Idea, Humidity and Cold, Winter, Green, Copper, Venus, the Angel and the Evangelist Matthew.
The triangle of Air with a horizontal line symbolizes the Earth, motionless stagnant water and corresponds to Cold and Dryness, Spring, Black, Lead, Saturn, the Bull and Luke the Evangelist.

Aztecs used the image of a triangle with a top at the top, connected to an inverted triangle, as a symbol of the time cycle, about the Triangle in combination with the cross forms the alchemical sign of Sulfur. Inverted, it means the completed Great Work.

Equilateral triangle, symbolizing, according to the Hebrew tradition, perfection, among Christians it means the Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Masons the triangle symbolizes the Trinity of the cosmos, and its sides - Light, Darkness and Time (base).

Tall triangle(with an angle of 36° at the apex and two angles of 72° at the base) forms one of the arms of the pentagon; when this angle is increased by 10 times, a circle of 360 ° is obtained. Ten adjacent triangles form a decagon.

Three corners: Wisdom, Strength, Beauty - divine, virtues, symbolizing the three kingdoms of nature and the three phases of human life: Birth, Life and Death.

Sacred Triangle of the Egyptians(the vertical side of which totaled three units of length and symbolized the masculine principle, the base - four units, the symbol of the feminine principle, and the hypotenuse - five units, symbolizing the fruit of their union; the result was an immaculate right angle) was a symbol of the Nature of All That Is. In this triangle, as Plutarch writes, the number Three is perfect and above all the others, Four is a square built on the side of dual duality, and as for the number Five, it belongs, on the one hand, to the Father, and on the other to the Mother, and consists from Triad and Duality. О Using two triangles connected to each other, Arab architects built an ellipse and drew the domes of their buildings.

Triangle seen in a dream symbolizes the mother womb of the cosmos.

Triangle
Like a linga in Indian mythology, the triangle is primarily a symbol of the creative male power, in other words, the creative power of God. And vice versa, a triangle, the top of which is turned down, is a sign of the feminine, a fertile womb.

According to Agrippa of Nettesheim, Juno was often denoted by a triangle as the personification of a woman.

For European alchemists the triangle pointing up meant the tongue of flame, "male" fire, and the triangle pointing down meant water that runs down from the mountain peaks, from the clouds down to the Earth.

If we superimpose both signs on each other, for Indians this will mean the unification of the creative and generative principles, a sign of the love of the gods for everything earthly, and the earthly - for the gods, a union from which everything and everything is born forever and ever.

In Europe this sign was considered to have come from the East, it was known, in particular, as the "star of David", the hexagon was used in folk beliefs (those who took many from both Jews and gypsies) as protection from evil forces.

The triune nature of the universe: Heaven, Earth, Man; father, mother, child; man as body, soul and spirit; mystical number three; triple, the first of the flat figures. Hence the symbol of the surface in general. "The surface consists of triangles" (Plato). The equilateral triangle symbolizes completion.
"The area within such a triangle is the common center of them all and is called the "Plain of Truth", on which are the cause, forms and images of everything that was and that will be; they are there in peace, which cannot be disturbed, and Eternity surrounds them; and hence time, like a jet of a fountain, flows down into the worlds" (Plutarch).

Three connected triangles denote the inviolable unity of the three persons of the Trinity.

Egyptians the triangle symbolizes the Triad.

Greeks delta symbolizes the door of life, the feminine, fertility. The Indians have triangles with their vertices up and down - these are shakta and shakti, lingam and yoni, Shiva and his Shakti.

The Pythagoreans the equilateral triangle symbolizes Athena as the goddess of wisdom.

In the philosophical system of Pythagoras The Greek letter "delta" because of its triangular shape is considered a symbol of the creation of the cosmos, and in Hinduism - a sign of the female life-giving power of the goddess Durga.

In Jewish Kabbalah, in the book Zohar ("Book of Radiance"), the maxim is given: " In heaven, both eyes of the god and his forehead form a triangle, and their reflection forms a triangle in the waters".
In pre-Christian times philosopher Xenocrates (393-314 BC) considered an equilateral triangle as "divine", an isosceles triangle as "demonic", and a "versatile" one as "human" (imperfect).

Based on the symbolism freemasons- also willingly practice the right-angled triangle of Pythagoras with side lengths 3, 4 and 5, which was depicted on training rugs with squares above the legs and hypotenuse and for brevity was called "Pythagoras".

In ancient Mexican manuscripts with illustrations, a triangular symbol, similar to a capital A, is a sign of the concept of "year". In Western European art, compositional schemes with a triangle were often used both in architecture and in painting, but especially where the topics of the trinity were discussed. The construction of the Pythagorean triangle by the Egyptians using the tension of the cords and its application to the teaching of geometry.

One of the most powerful and versatile symbols. The equilateral triangle is a masculine and solar sign representing deity, fire, life, heart, mountain and ascent, prosperity, harmony and royalty. The inverted triangle, perhaps an older sign, is a female and lunar symbol, representing the Great Mother, water, fertility, rain, divine grace. The symbolism of the female pubic triangle is sometimes indicated more directly by adding a short inner line drawn from the apex. In China, the triangle is almost always a female symbol. Triangles connected by vertices symbolize sexual union. The intersecting triangles that form the hexagram symbolize synthesis, the union of opposites. Two triangles lying horizontally, base to each other, represent the waxing and waning moon. As the simplest flat figure based on the sacred number three, the triangle was the Pythagorean sign of wisdom associated with Athena.

In Judaism and Christianity, the triangle is a sign of God. The God of the Christian Trinity is sometimes represented by an eye within a triangle or a figure with a triangular halo.

In accordance with the doctrine of the "four elements", four trigons (triangles) of three signs were defined

  • - fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius;
  • - earth: Bull, Virgo, Capricorn;
  • - air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius;

The numeric value is one.

Similarly, the image found by Silberer in a book on alchemy, published in 1618 in Frankfurt: below - the globe, which has wings, that is, the ball flies through time and space. And in this image you can see the signs of the triad and tetrad - a triangle and a square - they, apparently, denote matter and the life hidden in it, striving upwards.
By his activity, a person transforms rough matter, the sign of which is an irregular triangle, into organized matter, the sign of which is a pyramid, or a regular triangle, as well as an oshlar - a stone of creation, a rectangular hewn stone.
a stone on which a house or temple is built. Cosmic and human activity is governed by the law of balance - it is expressed by a semicircle based on its diameter.

The union symbols are all paired oppositions, perfect circle, intersecting circles, double triangle, androgyne, tangled trees, unicorn horn, yin-yang, lingam and yoni.

It is important that in the geometric symbolism of the cosmos, all round shapes are associated with the sky or celestial, all squares with the earth, and all triangles (with a stone at the top) with fire and with the desire for the heavenly, inherent in human nature.

The following chain of analogies: the pyramid has a square in plan and a triangle in vertical section, the square corresponds to the cross formed by four cardinal points. The temple expresses the hierarchical correlation of parts organized around the source of creation and spatially located around the world axis.

Gothic architecture is based on a triangle - a symbol of the Trinity. Flaming Gothic arch - sets the theme of fire and develops the apocalyptic theme.

Security is depicted by a wife, sitting carelessly on a chair and resting her hand under her chin. Sometimes in one hand she holds a cornucopia, and in the other a burning torch, with which she burns many weapons lying at her feet. Sometimes it appears half-naked and leaning on a cornucopia, and holding another similar horn in her hand. Sometimes she leans with her right hand on a spear, as a sign of her power, and with her left hand on a pillar, or mace, as a sign of firmness. Sometimes in her right hand is her crown, and in her left a spear; or in one hand a purse with money, and with the other leaning on a weapon tied with a bundle is depicted. Sometimes in the form of a seated wife, in a helmet and with a spear in her hand, leaning on a pedestal; with one lie different drawings fortresses, and on the other, a triangle and other architectonic tools.

The attributes of God the Father, according to which, in the works of art of the Renaissance, He can be distinguished from the other two hypostases of the Trinity - then His old age, as well as sometimes a triangular halo. In His hands may be a power or a book, although the same attributes are assigned to other characters. He may be wearing a papal robe and a papal tiara, but this vestment is more characteristic not of the Italian Renaissance, but of northern European painting.
Theology is depicted as a venerable woman, diligently looking at the sky, in light blue clothes with a triangular diadem on her head; or sitting on the clouds, dressed in white, green and red. Or walking and wearing a crown of pomegranates and apples woven on her head, having behind her the next two young men. Sometimes a sitting dove and books are near her.

HOURGLASS Mortality and inexorably passing time. The hourglass often appears in depictions of pious, quiet lifestyles to illustrate brevity. human being, as an attribute of Father-Time and sometimes Death. They share the symbolism of two triangles, one of which is upside down, signifying the cycles of creation and destruction (the form of Shiva's drum in Indian art).

Geometrically, the number 3 is represented by a triangle - also one of the universal magic symbols.

The triangle is the most outpost: all the remote forts of the fortresses were triangular in plan. The emblem of the triangle is on the berets of the army and police special forces.
From the triangle - neither take nor take away, and the only drawback of this structure is the need to replenish energy reserves.

Triangles do not produce or store energy - they waste it. But as a result, territory has been conquered, a breach has been made in someone else's defenses, and a sector of the market has been captured. The triangle is a symbol of expansion and leadership. Structures "under this sign" do not waste time on fundamental developments, but prefer to promote and implement already tested projects, but they do it as quickly and aggressively as possible - however, with a certain degree of risk.

Equilateral triangle testifies to stubbornness, intractability and methodicalness ... capture. In other words, before you is a well-developed expansion system with self-confidence accumulated in past battles and a certain financial reserve. For such triangles, mobility is somewhat underestimated, and, as a rule, firms bearing such a logo are prone to conservatism and snobbery.

Right triangles with elongated acute angle- symbols of army reconnaissance groups and special forces units. Ultimate mobility and concentration of impact, but only in one direction. The straightness of the angle embodies the strict uncompromising nature of the support and the balanced selectivity of the direction of one, but very powerful blow.

Non-isosceles triangles, unlike equilateral and isosceles, very rarely exist on their own - they are, literally, a structural unit of a certain organization (for example, the same security service in a corporation).

RHOMBUS- in fact, a derivative of two triangles connected by their bases: a figure devoid of a basis - as if existing in a certain separation from the "soil" in a rigid self-sufficiency sharpened by corners. The basis of the rhombus, so to speak, the basis of its existence is in its inner area, and the impact force is in the sharpness and strength of the corners. at the same time, the last quality of the "diamonds" is presented very aggressively.

The symbol of the mystical kingdom of Shambhala is three circles in a triangle in one large circle, but those who even hearsay know the legends about this "space" country are unlikely to attribute to it the "plushness" of a naive baby bear.

Equilateral triangle- the symbol of the Trinity, which is three equal parts united together. Triangular halos are only used to symbolize God the Father or the Trinity. The triangle with three circles is the monogram of the Trinity, the three hypostases of the One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Triangle. Trinity symbol.

triangular halo- Belonging to God the Father. As a musical instrument, the triangle is sometimes an attribute of Erato (one of the MUSES).

Other mountain symbols are triangle, cross, crown, star and c

This is demonstrated, for example, by the Pythagorean theorem with its elegant regular proportionality of squares through the sides of a right triangle.
And the same relationship with the square holds true for the triangle; the struggle between the number 3 and the number 4 seems to represent the struggle between the central elements of the spirit (corresponding to 3) and the peripheral components, i.e. cardinal points as an image of external ordering (corresponding to 4). The outer circle, on the other hand, always performs a unifying function, overcoming the contradictions and irregularities of angles and sides through their implicit movement.
Depicted in this way, the numbers from 1 to 4 add up to fours, a symbol of earthly existence, but also into a divine triangle. No wonder the Pythagoreans revered the tetraktis as a sacred symbol of perfection. In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the Ten Commandments are known, in Kabbalah - ten Sefirot of the Tree of Life, and in the Far East we meet the ten as a doubled symbol of the five elements (in the Yang and Yin versions), as well as a Zen interpretation of the stages of the path to perfection (in the parable "Ox and his shepherd").

Known in ancient Indian symbolism, as well as revered in modern times, a graphic symbol in the form of a geometrically proportional sign, similar to a mandala in its centrality and conducive to meditation. Yantra consists, as a rule, of triangles, squares and circles superimposed on each other, which, on the one hand, communicate the content with their known meaning, and on the other hand, directly express the unconscious archetypal structures of the psyche. Most famous is the "Sri Yantra", which consists of triangles skillfully nested one inside the other and facing upwards and downwards, which symbolizes the philosophical dualistic system, with a frame of lotus leaves and circular lines inside, enclosed in an expanding square structure. All this should lead to a state of meditation on the unity of polar opposites and cause a strong sense of harmony with oneself and elevation above the transient vanity.
- The symbolic meaning of the cone is very complex and may come from the combination of a circle with a triangle. In Byblos it was the symbol of Astarte, but in various parts Syria, according to Fraser, it was a symbol of the sun - an indication that its meaning is blurred. It can also be understood as a symbol derived from the pyramid (21); the cone also means mental loneliness (unity, immutability).
Teutonic cross: four triangles signifying a centripetal trend. A cross of ovals, consisting of one continuous line representing the direction of the movement of forces. A cross with cones at the ends, denoting the cardinal points in space. A crescent-tipped cross representing (according to Piobb) the four phases of the moon.
The heraldic lily, which does not exist in nature, has been a symbol of royal power since ancient times (46). The basis of this emblem was an inverted triangle, meaning water; above it was a cross (expressing "Connection" and a spiritual feat) with two complementary symmetrical leaves wrapped around a horizontal line; the central straight line was directed towards the sky, the symbolic meaning of which is obvious (59). In the Middle Ages, the lily was considered an emblem of inspiration and an attribute of God (4).
The lingam is not so much a sign of the phallus as it denotes the union of the sexes, symbolizing the accumulating energy of the universe (8). Quite often, this sign can be found in Hindu temples. A symbol close to it is the Tree of Life among the Persians, the seeds of which, mixed with water, preserve the fertility of the earth (31). All such symbols (connections, unions, intercourse) point to the "sacred marriage", without which the continuation of the process of creation and the preservation of the universe would be unthinkable; for this reason they are found in rites concerning fertility and abundance. In China, the lingam is called Kuei; it is an oblong piece of jade bounded by a triangle. Often the seven stars of the constellation Ursa Major can be seen engraved on the Kuei, probably symbolizing space and time (i.e. the seven directions of space and the seven days of the week).
The number eight is similar to the mandorla in Romanesque art, signifying the intersection of earth (number four or square) with heaven (circle). The "thousand-petalled" lotus symbolizes the final revelation; a triangle is usually depicted in its center, and in the triangle - the "great emptiness" - a symbol of formlessness.
mandala
A geometric composition that symbolizes the spiritual, cosmic or psychic order Although the Buddhist mandala is known mainly as a tool in meditation practice, it was in ancient times. both in Buddhism and Hinduism, it was also a symbol of initiation, oriented believers to sacred places Mandala - an attempt to depict the highest reality - Spiritual Wholeness, which surpasses the sensory world. In Sanskrit, "mandala" means "circle", and even when this geometric composition is based on squares or triangles, it still has a concentric structure. It symbolizes the desire for the spiritual center, mental and physical, which is reflected in the structure of many temples and stupas in the form of a mandala.
A striking feature of all mandalas is the high pictorial harmony of its constituent elements, symbolizing the divine harmony itself, opposed to the confusion and disorder of the material world. Jung believed that the mandala is an archetypal symbol of a person's longing for psychological interaction with other people.
Other researchers believed that the mandala is a visual expression of a spiritual journey beyond one's own self. The meanings of different mandalas are different; some have figurative elements that are meant to symbolize certain qualities, such as those represented by specific bodhisattvas, often seated in a lotus flower. Nevertheless general meaning composition remains unchanged and symbolizes the guiding mind, supernatural structures, the clarity of enlightenment.
(Sanskrit) - primarily a circle, but in a broader sense in the Indo-Buddhist region, as well as in Lamaist Tibet - means of concentration and meditation, constructed from circles and the forms formed from them. Such structures are for the most part drawn and painted with paints, but also arranged compositionally, and then clearly copied into building plans temple buildings. They are, in a true sense, spiritual images of the world order (cosmograms), often combined with elements of a four-dimensional orientation (see Square). At the same time, as with targets, there is an aiming at the center, leading to a “narrowing of the mental field of vision” (K. G. Jung) based on contemplation and concentration of attention on spiritual content and an intuitive way of knowing, which due to this in a deeply felt form must be rooted in the psyche. In the center, in accordance with the nature of the teaching and the degree of initiation, there are various symbols, for example, in the Indian system of Tantrism - a diamond "wedge of thunder" as a symbol of the final unification of the male and female principles, overcoming the dualistic system ("Shiva-Shakti" in kundalini yoga).
Alchemical symbols also often have the character of a mandala, although here we are not talking about an obhistorical connection with Asian prototypes. Complex psychology in the understanding of C. G. Jung Interprets mandala-symbols as "archetypes" born to mankind (original prototypes), which can spontaneously appear in culturally and historically unprepared people during the process of spiritual maturation (for example, in dreams, visions or in free living images) - as symbols of immersion and deepening into chaotic phases in order to express the idea of the spiritual core of existence, internal reconciliation and integrity.
As a means of meditation in the proper sense, mandala images are denoted by the Indian expression yantra.
Hindu term for a circle. This is a kind of yantra (tool, method, symbol) in the form of a ritual geometric diagram, sometimes corresponding to a special prophetic property or some form of magic (mantra), which is thus given a visual expression (6).
Camman suggests that mandalas were first brought to Tibet from India by the great guru Padma Sambhava in the 8th century CE. They can be found throughout the East as a means of achieving contemplation and concentration - as an aid in inducing certain mental states and in maintaining the spirit as one moves forward along the path of evolution from biological to geometric forms, from the realm of material to spiritual.
According to G. Zimmer, mandalas are not only drawn or drawn, but also built in kind for some festivities.
One of the monks of the Bhatya Basti lamaist monastery, Lindem Gomhan, described the mandala to Carl Gustav Jung as "a mental image that can only be built in the imagination by a knowledgeable lama." He emphasized that "no mandala is the same as the other": they are all different, because each is a reflected image of the mental state of its creator or, in other words, an expression of a change made by the mental content to the traditional idea of the mandala. Thus, the mandala is a synthesis of traditional structure and free interpretation.
Its main components are geometric figures, balanced and concentric. Based on this, it is said that "the mandala always wraps a circle in a form." There are some works - for example "Sri-Chakra-Sambhara-Tantra", - "- which prescribe rules for the best representation of this image.
In fact, such figures as the wheel of the world, the Mexican "great stone calendar", the lotus flower, the mythical golden flower, the rose, etc. coincide with the mandala.
In a purely psychological sense, one can identify the mandala with figures made up of various elements enclosed in a square or circle, such as a horoscope, a labyrinth, a zodiacal circle, figures representing the "year circle", and also a dial.
Mandalas are also typical designs of round, square or octagonal buildings.
As for three-dimensional forms, there are temples built in the image of a mandala with its characteristic balance of elements, geometric shape and meaningful number. constituent parts. Again, according to Kamman, there are some Chinese shields and mirror backs that are also mandalas.
In short, the mandala is primarily an image and synthesis of dual moments of differentiation and unification, diversity and uniformity, external and internal, diffusion and concentration (32).
It excludes disorder and all relative symbols, since, by its very nature, it must overcome disorder. The mandala is a visual, plastic expression of the struggle to achieve order - even within difference - and the desire to reunite with the original, extra-spatial and timeless "center", as it is conceived in all symbolic traditions. However, since the occupation of decoration - i.e. unconscious symbolism - is important for ordering a certain space - i.e. order to bring order into chaos - then, therefore, this struggle is characterized by two features: firstly, the possibility that some alleged mandalas are the result of a simple (aesthetic or utilitarian) demand for order and, secondly, the consideration that the mandala itself takes its beginning from a mystical longing for a higher unification.

According to Jung, mandalas and all accompanying images of the type mentioned above - previous, parallel or subsequent - are derived from dreams and visions corresponding to the main religious symbols known to mankind - symbols that existed as far back as the Paleolithic period (which is proved, for example, by Rhodesian rock paintings ). Many cultural, artistic or allegorical works and many images used in numismatics must have arisen from this same initial interest in mental or internal structure (with its external complementary part, which is eloquently evidenced by many rituals related to the founding of cities and temples, to the division of the sky, to orientation and space-time relationship.
The juxtaposition of circle, triangle and square (the numerical equivalents of 1 and 10; 3, 4 and 7) plays a fundamental role in the most "classic" and authentic oriental mandalas. Although the concept of the center is always present in the mandala - never really depicted visually, but posited through the concentration of figures - at the same time it is a visualization of the obstacles to reaching and mastering the center. Thus, the mandala performs the function of helping a person in his attempts to regroup everything that is scattered around one axis - Jung's "Self". It is interesting to note that the same problem preoccupied the alchemists. Jung believed that the mandala represents an autonomous psychic fact or "a view of the core, of whose innermost structure or basic meaning we have no exact knowledge" (32).
Mircea Eliade, speaking as a historian of religion and not as a psychologist, considers the mandala not so much as a projection of the mind, but as an objective symbol of the imago mundi (image of the world). The structure of a temple in the form of a mandala - for example, the temple of Borobudur - has the goal of creating a monumental way of life and "distorting the world" in order to make it an appropriate means of expression of a higher order, which a person - a neophyte or an initiate - is able to comprehend, once he realizes???? to your soul. The same is true of large mandalas depicted on the ground with colored threads or sand. In this case, they rather perform a ritual function in which a person can move towards the inner gradually, identifying with each stage and each area that he passes through, thanks to which they serve for contemplation. This ritual is similar to the ritual of climbing into the labyrinth (denoting the search for the center) (18), its psychological and spiritual meanings are self-evident.
There are some mandalas whose balance is provided not by figures, but by numbers arranged in geometric discontinuity (for example, four points, then five, then three) and then identified with cardinal points, elements, colors, etc.; thanks to this, the meaning of the mandala is significantly enriched with additional symbols. Han Dynasty mirrors depict the numbers 4 and 8 balancing each other and arranged around the center in five areas that correspond to the five elements (i.e. 4 material elements plus spirit or quintessence).
In the West, alchemy has made completely free the use of figures that have a certain resemblance to the mandala, composed of equilibrium circles, triangles and squares. According to Heinrich Khunrath, a triangle inside a square forms a circle.
There are, as Jung pointed out, "distorted" mandalas, different in form from those mentioned above and based on the numbers 6, 8 and 12; but they are comparatively rare. In all mandalas in which numbers are the predominant element, it is the numerical symbolism that can best establish its meaning. The interpretation should be such that the highest (or main) elements are always closest to the center. Thus, a circle within a square is a more developed structure than a square within a circle.
The characteristic features of the Sri Yantra, one of the best mandala instruments, have been explained by Luc Benoit. It is composed around a central point, which is the metaphysical and radiant point of primordial energy; however, this energy does not appear, and hence the center point does not actually appear in the drawing, but must be represented. The circle is a complex model of nine triangles - the image of transcendental worlds; four of these triangles have their apex pointing up, and the other five pointing down. An intermediate - or subtle - world is relied upon with the help of a triple halo surrounding the triangles. The eight-petalled lotus (denoting rebirth) along with the other sixteen petals and the triple circle complete this symbolic representation of the spiritual world. The fact that it exists inside the material world is supposed to be a three-linear jagged circle, which means orientation in space (6).
The expanding center is a concept used in the LLIpu-Yantra mandala.
cassiopeia - A woman sitting on a chair with her arms crossed. Sometimes - with a triangle on the head.

In Western art, wisdom is represented ancient greek goddess Athena (in Roman mythology Minerva). The goddess holds a book or an olive branch and is accompanied by a sacred owl. In medieval paintings, Wisdom also holds a book, but is often depicted with a snake coiled at her feet, symbolizing prudence. As part of wisdom, prudence has many symbols in common with it. Wine and alcohol were often associated with wisdom and truth. The same can be said about water, especially spring water. Symbols of wisdom were precious metals and stones, especially gold and silver, chrysolite, jade, diamond, pearls and zircon. Wisdom was associated with gold and blue, the number seven and the triangle.

Other varieties are a triangular nimbus around the head of God, meaning the Triune God, or the Trinity; A halo, or halo, is a zone of light that is usually represented as a circle, square, or triangle. It is located behind the head of divine or holy persons and indicates their greatness.
So, for example, from a psychological point of view, a triangle in the natural position of its sharpest point, being located between a square and a circle, is an expression of communication. But speaking objectively, these three figures symbolize the connection (represented by the triangle) between earth (square) and heaven (circle, wheel, window - rose); this explains why they are integral symbols of many Cistercian and Gothic façades.
The symbols of fire are the triangle resting on its base; Divine energy, purification, revelation, transformation, rebirth, spiritual impulse, temptation, ambition, inspiration, sexual passion; a strong and active element, symbolizing both creative and destructive forces. Graphically, fire in alchemy was depicted as a triangle, since it was considered a substance that unites the other three: earth, water and air. At the household level, fire is a protective, soothing image (hearth fire). But it can also be a menacing image of the destructive forces of nature.
Both the cave and the heart are symbolized by the female downward triangle. The mountain is the masculine principle, visible and outward; represented by a triangle pointing up.
The Pythagorean triangle "with the length of the legs 3 and 4 and the hypotenuse 5 in the speculative interpretation of correspondence (consistency) acts as a symbol of the" head of the Masonic lodge "and forms the hallmark of the luminary in the sense of striving for measure and harmony. From it you can design a cube (cubic stone), a square with side length 3 and 4 and from the system of cubes - a cross. Thus, this "mystical mathematics" has become a symbolic way of approaching the creative secrets of God, "the almighty architect of all worlds."

The connection of the top with the base forms the triangular facets of the pyramid, symbolizing fire, divine revelation and the threefold principle of creation. Therefore, the pyramid is considered as a symbol that personifies the entire process of creation in its three main directions.
Bees flew around Cupid, and one of them once bit him. Among Hindus, a bee on a lotus is a symbol of Vishnu; blue bees on the forehead are a sign of Krishna, as well as ether; the bee at the top of the triangle is Shiva, Madheri "suave".
The blue bee on the forehead is the sign of Krishna; on a lotus - Vishnu; above the triangle - Shiva.

The heart is also often depicted as a triangle resting on top. In iconography, the heart was depicted in the form of a vase or represented graphically as an inverted triangle, symbolizing the vessel where love falls and is stored; in this sense it is connected with the Holy Grail.
The sign of the double helix is interesting, in which both elements - self-unfolding and self-concentration ("evolution and involution") are connected in an inseparable unity. In this one can see the image of "becoming and disappearing" as a process of eternal circulation. In this sense, one can interpret the double helix on the triangular bosom of the figurine of the "mother goddess" from Thrace in the Neolithic era.
There are two forms of the swastika: direct and reverse, which are believed to symbolize male and female, solar and lunar principles, movement clockwise and counterclockwise, and also, apparently, two hemispheres, celestial and chthonic power, rising spring and setting autumn Sun . Evidence that the reversed swastika is a female symbol can be found in the images of Artemis and Astarte, where she is depicted on the triangle of the vulva.
The bishop, or elephant, personifies the rulers of the spiritual world, and his moves are based on a triangle; his movement on white fields means a positive intellectual path, and on red or black - a religious, pious, via negativa; diagonal movement - existential and feminine, subordinate to Jupiter.
Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet has its own name. Dalet means the door, the gate, and also the mother's womb, that "door" from which life comes out. In this meaning, dalet corresponds to the Indian yoni. Interestingly, the Greek version of Dalet - the letter delta - is depicted as a triangle, like the yoni, only with the top up, not down.

The symbolism of the drawing: the arms and torso of the Emperor are folded into a triangle, the legs - into a cross: a graphic symbol of sulfur. Lilies and bees are not only a tribute to the French tradition (Bourbons and Bonapartes), but also a symbol of patronage, paternal power and patronage. However, even here - "nothing too much": the lamb at the bottom of the card is a symbol of renunciation of violence and readiness for a sacred sacrifice.

The Hanged Man Cloud of inspiration: here - blue hair, in other decks - a halo or radiance. Crossed legs = 4 (cross). Also - an allusion to the card of the Emperor, who is often depicted with crossed legs. Head and arms = 3 (triangle). 3x4=12. The earthly cross above the divine triangle is Jesus carrying His cross, or Atlas supporting the globe.

The symbolism of the picture: the legs of the hanging man are crossed, while the hands form a triangle: the cross over the triangle is a symbol of the descent of light into darkness, that is, enlightenment and initiation. The square of cells behind the legs of the Hanged Man are cosmic annals, where "all moves are written down", and everyone has their own role. And yet the green color in the chart is the color of Venus, the color of hope.
(lat. triquetrus - triangular) - a circle divided into three parts by three curved lines. Triskelis are depicted, for example, on prehistoric clay vessels from the time of field burials in urns; triple combinations of spirals adorn the walls of large stone structures of the Bronze Age in Ireland (which, of course, have a symbolic meaning, and are not just a purely decorative motif). Triskelis were also depicted as three bent at the knees human legs, as can be seen on Pamphylian coins or on the coat of arms of the city of Agrigentum (Sicily). Armored legs in this combination formed the emblem of the Isle of Man with the motto: "Justice is planted where it is sown." The city coat of arms of Füssen (Bavaria) is shaped like a tripod. Like the swastika, this symbol also evokes the association of strong rotation and whirling through the "dynamization" of direction. The shape of the three-leafed palmette of Gothic church windows is associated with the symbolism of the Holy Trinity. On medieval windows made of lead glass, three hares were sometimes depicted running one after another, the ears of which form a triangle in the middle. Triple structure as a decorative motif in ancient Celtic art.
TRISKELION A symbol of dynamic energy in the form of three legs connected together, something similar to the swastika, but with three, instead of four, bent rays, creating a cyclical effect. As a motif in Celtic art and on Greek coins and shields, the triskelion is not so much related to solar and moon phases(one of the suggested values) how much to power and physical strength. It is considered the emblem of the Isles of Skilly and the Isle of Man.
God the Father in the form of an old man, possibly with a long beard, patriarchal appearance, sometimes with a triangular halo.
Other symbols are a triangle, three stacked triangles or circles, and a shamrock. three hares with ears forming a triangle, three fish, a lion or an eagle with a common head. The Trinity, symbolized by the Sun, the satellites of the Sun, the equilateral triangle and the tricolor rainbow. a triangle with an eye inside or three stars; three superimposed circles or arches within a circle; shamrock or cross of three leaves.
The symbol of the Trinity is also a triangle with the "eye of God" turned upwards.
- like the compass, which has an architectural origin, a symbolically significant tool.

Depicted, in particular, on Durer's copper engraving "Melancholy" as an attribute of the Apostle Thomas (the patron saint of builders). Even today, in the symbolism of Freemasonry, it is given a special status, as associated with squareness, justice, justice. The head of the Masonic lodge wore it on his chest as a sign of his power, entrusted to him and the duty he assumed. A square with two sides of unequal length, in a ratio of 3:4, indicates the Pythagorean theorem, since it allows us to designate a triangle with sides of 3, 4 and 5. According to I. Bourneple (1793), the square represents "love for God and neighbor, what he (the master) should first of all be decorated with, and also indicates to each brother from his first entry into the temple that the thought of this decoration, which absorbs all laws, should induce him to achieve all conceivable human virtues. In ancient China, the square was also an important symbol, namely in the hands of the mythical sage Fu Xi, who is credited with discovering the system of knowledge expressed in the I Ching. He is depicted with a snake-like lower part of the body and with a square (according to another version - with a compass) in his hands, which is understood as a symbol of creation, as well as sacred magical powers.

In China, the snake is the sixth animal symbol of the zodiac and is considered very cunning and dangerous. Popular rumor endows "double-dealers" with a snake heart. However, rivers with their winding beds were also depicted as snakes, and in legends and fairy tales, grateful snakes give pearls. Possession of snake skin promises wealth; dreams with snakes in China are also interpreted mainly in a sexual sense - the snake's body is associated with the male penis, the triangular head is associated with the female shameful triangle. According to Chinese astrology, the snake rules 1989, 2001 and every twelfth year thereafter.

The intersection is a place of increased danger, both for drivers and for pedestrians. After all, traffic flows moving in different directions intersect here, and it is very important to follow all the rules related to traffic at the intersection in order to avoid accidents.

Intersecting roads can be equivalent or unequal. The road sign 1.6 “Intersection of equivalent roads” signals the driver about the approach of an intersection with equivalent roads , which is a black cross, the crossbars of which are placed diagonally, depicted on a white background and enclosed in a red triangle.

This sign means that the roads that intersect are of equal importance, regardless of the road surface.

The first thing the driver must do when he sees such a sign is to slow down, since it is very likely that he will have to give way to vehicles moving on the right. And even if he was driving all the time along the road designated as the main one at the previous intersections, anyway, at the intersection, in front of which there is a sign 1.6, he will have to give way to cars moving on the right.

At an intersection with equivalent roads, rail transport, for example, a tram, also has an advantage. His drivers of motor vehicles are promised to pass always, no matter from which side he moves.

Sometimes it happens that the sign 1.6 "Intersection of equivalent roads" is not installed in front of intersections. This may be in countryside or low-traffic city lanes. In such cases, it is important to be able to read the intersection and understand the priorities. In any case, it will not be superfluous to let the traffic moving to the right pass, and, having passed the intersection, pay attention to the sign that is installed in front of it.

At intersections marked with the sign 1.6., a situation may arise when each of the drivers will have an obstacle on the right. In this case, the drivers themselves must decide on the order of travel. For example, with the help of a short-term switching of the high-dipped headlights. This signal means "I am the last to go." And this means that you will not be a hindrance to other drivers.

A sign notifying the driver of the approach of an intersection with equivalent roads, like other warning signs, is installed in the city at a distance of 50 - 100 meters before the intersection, outside the city - at a distance of 150 - 300 meters before the intersection. The difference in distance is explained by the fact that on country roads, drivers develop higher speeds, and they need more time to slow down.
