Of course, a cake for Valentine's Day should be not only beautiful, but also tasty, so that your man likes it.

Ingredients

So that the question “What to give your loved one on Valentine's Day” no longer arises before you on the eve of February 14, we advise you to master the method of making a simple birthday cake, decorated specifically for this holiday.

We will make a cake based on custard biscuit dough, cream and use fresh strawberries as a layer, everything is decorated with melted chocolate. For biscuit cakes, you will need the following set of products:

  • 2 eggs;
  • 100 grams of sugar;
  • 80 grams of white flour;
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of potato starch;
  • 25 grams of butter;
  • 1 tablespoon of water;
  • 1 package of baking powder;
  • 1 packet of vanillin;
  • a quarter teaspoon of salt.

We will make custard cream in milk with the addition of gelatin (Bavarian), for it you will need the following components:

  • 150 milliliters of heavy cream and milk with a fat content of 3.2%;
  • 5 yolks;
  • 1 tablespoon of boiled coffee;
  • vanilla pod;
  • 50 grams of sugar;
  • another half liter of whipping cream with a fat content of 33%;
  • 15 grams of gelatin in sheets;
  • a small pinch of salt.

To decorate the cake, you only need 2 components:

  • 800 grams of fresh strawberries;
  • 100 gram dark chocolate bar with minimum sugar content and no additives.

In this case, for this Valentine's Day cake, all ingredients except cream should be at room temperature. Place the cream in the refrigerator in the evening, and remove the eggs from the cold in advance so that they have room temperature. It is advisable to use fresh strawberries, but since Valentine's Day falls on the cold season, it is permissible to use canned or frozen strawberries.

How to make a cake for lovers

The main symbol of all lovers is the heart. Therefore, we will prepare a cake for Valentine's Day of this particular form. Therefore, stock up in advance with a silicone or detachable heart-shaped cake mold, or make it yourself from any tin.

Even making a cake for two lovers with your own hands is quite simple if you follow step by step instructions. First, prepare the biscuit:

  1. Sift flour into a deep bowl, add a bag of baking powder and a portion of starch, as well as vanilla and salt, mix everything into a homogeneous mixture.
  2. Separate the whites from the eggs, beat them on the most high speed until a fluffy foam appears. In the already whipped proteins, add half the amount of sugar, beat everything together.
  3. Add the second half of the sugar to the yolks, rub until the mixture becomes light yellow.
  4. Mix the yolks and proteins with a spatula, gently lifting the mass from the bottom up.
  5. While kneading, one tablespoon at a time, add to the egg mixture a mass of flour and other dry ingredients until you get a fairly dense dough.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix water and butter, put the saucepan in a water bath and heat until boiling. When the butter is melted and mixed with water, along the edge of the saucepan, pour this mixture in a thin stream into the main biscuit dough.
  7. Mix everything thoroughly and gently until smooth, put the custard dough in a heart shape, oiled and sprinkled with flour.
  8. This version of the biscuit is baked in the oven for about 40 minutes at a maximum temperature of 175 degrees.

As usual, the finished biscuit must be cooled on a wire rack so that there is free access of air to the bottom of the cake, and then cut into two or three parts, depending on the size of your heart. While the cakes are cooling, you can start creating the cream for the cake for Valentine's Day. Bavarian custard has a consistency similar to mousse, depending on the amount of gelatin it can turn out to be very light or dense and heavy. The cream has a neutral taste, so it goes well with various flavors, in our case we will add a little brewed instant coffee. In addition to it, fruit syrups, melted chocolate or other additives are well suited to the cream.

In your own kitchen, you can make this world-famous cream for our Valentine's Day cake:

  1. At the beginning of cooking, soak a portion of gelatin in a small amount of water for about 15 minutes.
  2. While the gelatin swells, separate 5 yolks, pour a portion of sugar into them and mix until white.
  3. In a separate saucepan, mix milk and cream, salt a little, add vanilla and bring to a boil over low heat.
  4. Now gradually add the egg mixture to the milk and cream, stir, boil until thickened.
  5. When the saucepan is removed from the heat, add the brewed coffee and mix thoroughly again.
  6. Dissolve the gelatin as usual in a water bath until it becomes liquid, then cool to room temperature and add in a trickle to the main vanilla sauce.
  7. Whip the chilled cream separately until fluffy peaks appear. Mix this foam with the base vanilla sauce in several steps, moving only in one direction from bottom to top.

The Bavarian cream is ready, the cake layers for Valentine's Day have cooled down, we can start assembling:

  1. We will collect the cake in the same form in which the cakes were baked. To make them fit into the mold easily, trim off the tough crusts on the sides.
  2. Put one cake on the bottom of the mold, cut the strawberries in half lengthwise, place a side of half the strawberries along the edge of the cake.
  3. Cut the rest of the strawberries into small cubes and pour into the center, level with an even layer.
  4. Pour a fairly thick layer of cream directly onto the strawberries. If you cut the cake into two parts, then the assembly can be considered almost complete - you just have to cover the cream with a second cake and put the cake in the refrigerator. If your biscuit is three separate cakes, then you need to repeat the procedure with the rest of the biscuits, also lay out the strawberry slices and pour the second half of the cream.
  5. After that, you need to cover the cake for Valentine's Day with a film on top, put it in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours so that the biscuit cakes are saturated with cream, and the cream itself hardens and becomes like a delicate soufflé.

The basis for the Valentine's Day cake is ready, but the main thing in it is a romantic decoration that fits the holiday perfectly. On Valentine's Day, decorate our products with strawberries and melted chocolate:

  1. Remove the cake from the refrigerator, remove the top film, carefully pry the sides of the cake, place a dish on top and turn the cake over onto it with a sharp movement. To make the cake come out of the mold better, you can cover it completely with cling film, which is then simply removed from the dough.
  2. Now sprinkle the entire surface of the cake with powdered sugar, put on top two pieces of marshmallows in the shape of a heart, preferably white and pink.
  3. Also lay her cake slices of fresh strawberries, and pour strawberry syrup.
  4. Additionally, you can decorate it with melted chocolate, making it an inscription in the form of the names of a guy and a girl.

Let this Valentine's Day be remembered for a long time by two lovers, and a beautifully decorated and very tasty cake will become a sweet gift for the couple.
