Mobile air conditioner how it works. Mobile air conditioners without duct. Reviews. Operating principle and installation. Mobile split systems: pros and cons

Modern climate control devices for ductless homes and offices occupy a special place. Their distinctive feature is that they are easy to operate and install, they can be moved around the apartment or transported to other places.

Mobile air conditioners without duct. Principle of operation

The system is designed to create cold without generating heat, making a separate duct simply unnecessary. The design features of the device are simplified due to the absence of condensate.

Advantages of the equipment

Mobile air conditioners without duct have a number of advantages. User reviews about them highlight their following properties:

There is no hose for condensate drainage, various tubes and an air duct;

Mobility, allowing you to change the position of the device quickly and easily;

Simplified installation and maintenance without specialist intervention;

Cooling operation consumes little electricity - 70 or 150 W, depending on the mode;

Floor-standing mobile air conditioners without duct are reliable due to their simple design;

Light weight of the device - from 6 to 12 kg;

Moves with wheels on the base;

Low cost compared to split systems.

Disadvantages of mobile devices of this type

Mobile air conditioners without an air duct also have their negative aspects. Reviews from many people indicate such weak sides, How:

Possibility of use in small rooms - up to 25-30 m2;

Greater noise level than in split systems;

It must be refilled with water regularly;

The system has inertia - it takes a long time to feel cold;

The moisture that evaporates during operation collects in the room, and therefore ventilation should be done.

It must be remembered that mobile air conditioners for a home without an air duct cannot be used in the following rooms:

In closed rooms without windows or ventilation;

In rooms with high humidity;

In the basements.

Mechanism of operation

How do portable ductless air conditioners work? The principle of operation is that a certain amount of cold water is poured into a special container located inside the device. In cooling mode, the liquid entering through the pump saturates the porous filter, and household air is driven through it using a fan. Heat is taken from it and evaporates out together with water. Thus, the output is cooled air. The remaining liquid that has not evaporated is collected in a special tray.

The efficiency of the air conditioner directly depends on the temperature of the liquid. The cooler the water, the best effect it turns out. When choosing a ductless mobile air conditioner, models with ice compartments can also be considered.

The main feature of such units is that they do not have the function of setting the maintained temperature, like conventional air conditioners. The system here is much simpler: the hotter the room and the colder the liquid, the more efficient the work will be. According to technical data, the difference in temperature is 7-8 degrees.

Mobile air conditioner without duct: price and selection rules

In order not to make mistakes when purchasing a device, you should choose the device wisely and pay attention first of all to its main characteristics. First, the buyer must decide for himself whether he needs to quickly cool the room or not. If you need to lower the room temperature by 5-7 degrees in a few minutes, then it is better to purchase a compressor unit.

A mobile air conditioner without an air duct, the price of which is 13-30 thousand rubles, depending on the power, additional functions and the manufacturer, is designed to maintain a microclimate in small rooms with a temperature of 23-25 0 C.

The main points that are taken into account when choosing a device:

1. The performance of the air conditioner and the area of the porous filter must be suitable for the area of the room in which the microclimate is going to be maintained.

2. The water container must be insulated so that the air can cool quickly. On some models equipped with an ice container, water passes through this reservoir before entering the filter.

3. It is very good to choose multifunctional mobile air conditioners without duct. Reviews from people who have used such units recommend just such models. They are equipped with a remote control remote control, timer, they contain an air ionizer and a fine filter. The function of filling the air space with silver ions is especially useful, which has a beneficial effect on the climate in the house, the health of children and people suffering from respiratory diseases.

4. To make your home comfortable, you should choose an air conditioner with a reduced noise level: inside the unit - 25-48 dB, outside - 36-56 dB. These figures may vary depending on the performance mode. At minimum and maximum modes, these data will differ.

5. It is better to purchase popular and time-tested air conditioner models.

Popular Russian model of the device

Good examples of quality units are Kibor ductless mobile air conditioners. There are models 16, 24 and 32 on sale. The number indicates the maximum cooling area.

The device has the following properties:

Cools the air;

Ionizes the room space;

Purifies like mountain air.

The device has a stylish design. Its height is 82 cm, width - 40 cm, depth - 28 cm.

This model has additional features:

Three operating modes;

Automatically closes the front panel blinds when not in use to protect internal electronics from dust;

Has a low noise threshold;

Minimum electricity consumption (65 W);

Water tank volume - 8 liters;

Built-in water sensor and control panel.

Other famous models

There are other popular devices of this type. For example, a mobile ductless air conditioner Samsung APH289SE, whose power consumption is 1300 W. The volume of the water tank is 15 liters. This powerful device has all the functions of the Kibor model, but in addition it also has a special ice container.

Also known on the cooling device market is the Electrolux ECO series ductless mobile air conditioner, which is capable of cooling, ventilating and dehumidifying indoor air. To the main functions of such air conditioners, an auxiliary drainage system has been added to the design, which is necessary when there is high humidity in the room. The power of this device is 1100 W. Sold together with a remote control built into the body of the device.

Samsung and Electrolux models are additionally equipped with a corrugated air duct that can be removed. The advantage of these devices is that they not only have an ultra-modern design, a wide range of functions and technological solutions, but they can operate as simple mobile air conditioners with or without hot air exhaust to the street.

To install mobile air conditioners without an air duct from Kibor or another company, no special knowledge or skills are required. All that is needed for this is:

1. Study the instructions carefully.

2. Decide on the installation location of the device.

3. Fill the container with chilled water.

4. Set the required operating mode.

Some features of use

Liquid should be constantly added to the tank. If there is a lack of water, an audible or visual signal will be received from a special sensor. The frequency of such a procedure depends on the finishing material, room area, humidity level, temperature and other features. For example, in one room water is added once a day, and in another - once every few days.

To avoid disappointment with this type of air conditioner, it is better to follow the advice on using the equipment given by experts.

You need to know that the climate control device has its maximum effect at an ambient temperature of more than 25 degrees Celsius. While the air conditioner is operating, a window or vent should be open or periodic ventilation should be provided. This type of equipment works best in office premises with supply and exhaust ventilation.

The described type of air conditioner can help get rid of heat and stuffiness. However, you don’t need to expect the same performance from it as from traditional climate systems. In order for it to bring at least some benefit, it is necessary to constantly add water and keep rooms with open windows and vents.

Conclusion

What is better - to purchase ordinary climate control equipment or mobile air conditioners without an air duct? Feedback from people is clear: if it is possible to install normal systems, then it is better to install them.

After all, the described type of air conditioner is the most ordinary air humidifier with a set of advanced functions and in a stylish modern case. It cannot cool the air efficiently, especially in a few minutes, and maintain the set temperature. However, a ductless air conditioner can make it easier to stay in rooms where it is not possible to install normal equipment. At least it's better than a fan that blows hot, stuffy air around the room. The only thing you need to do is add it on time. cold water and create a draft in the room.

Many people say that buying such an air conditioner is a waste of money. But that's not true. It’s just that this device serves slightly different purposes. While standard climate systems are aimed at cooling or heating the air in a room, air conditioners (humidifiers) perform the task of purifying the air space and saturating it with silver ions. Most users of this device compare purified air with high mountain air.

Some people escape the stuffy air by spraying with water. But why make such sacrifices if you can buy a high-quality air conditioner without an air duct and feel like a human being, and not “as cold in the sun.”

There are many ways to cool the air in a room, as well as various types air conditioners. Among them, a mobile air conditioner stands out, which has its most important advantage - ease of installation. After all, you don’t have to wait until specialists arrive and install everything as it should, the device will be ready for use almost immediately, and cool air will not keep you waiting.

According to their design, all mobile air conditioners can be divided into two types: split systems and monoblocks. The former cool the air, and the latter can also supply Fresh air from the street. In short, the principle of operation is similar to all other types of air conditioners: warm air from the room enters one hole, then cools and is blown out of another hole, and in the meantime the warm air is discharged outside. For this, a special hose is used, which can be inserted into a window, a window opening, or into a specially prepared hole in the wall. During operation of the device, condensate also accumulates in a special container, which must be emptied periodically.

Some problems may arise with the hot air exhaust hose, since it is necessary to resolve the issue of external street air that can penetrate into the room. So, if you lead a hose through an open window, then you came up with special plugs for the space that remains open, and in this plug there is precisely a hole for the pipe to exit. There is another option - to lead the pipe into the wall, making a cutout there, or into the glazing. In any case, a special plug is placed on the finished holes, which can be closed for the period from autumn to spring, thereby preventing cool air from entering the house.

As a rule, most air conditioners operate at temperatures from +15 to +35 degrees, and if they fluctuate in one direction or another, the device may fail. Some models may have additional functions, for example, the ability to operate in fan heater mode, warming the air in the room in winter time. In addition, the device can be supplemented with an air ionizer, timer, control panel, etc.

Advantages:

  1. Both split systems and monoblocks are easy to install.
  2. A monoblock air conditioner is more mobile than a split air conditioner; it can be moved throughout the apartment, and the tube can be routed to different windows.
  3. Transporting monoblocks is completely easy: they are light, equipped with wheels and a handle for easy transportation.
  4. We must not lose sight of the fact that mobile air conditioners are somewhat cheaper than stationary split systems, which also cannot be a definite advantage when choosing. And installation and maintenance are also cheaper for owners.

Flaws:

  1. Noise. Its level is noted at about 50 dB, which is not very pleasant to the ear. The fact is that in conventional stationary air conditioners the noisy compressor is placed outside the room, but here it’s all in one, which is what causes the noise.
  2. The maximum power is limited to 4 kW, but if you increase this level, it will be impossible to stay in the room due to the above-mentioned noise.
  3. The cooling level of a mobile air conditioner is inferior compared to conventional systems. In addition, due to the nature of the operation, warm air from other unconditioned rooms can enter the room where the air conditioner operates.
  4. Hose: due to its insufficient length, positioning the device can be very difficult, because you have to focus on windows and doors. In addition, on the hottest days, this hose can heat up to extreme temperatures, giving off heat to the air in the room and being unsafe for others. After all, if you accidentally touch it, you can get burned.

Thus, we conclude that under certain conditions this type of air conditioner will be the most good choice, while in other cases it is not at all ideal.

Room air conditioner - pros and cons

Room air conditioner or split system

Recent years have blessed us with quite high temperatures air in summer months, the second floor of the house in which I live permanently is so hot under the metal roof that it is almost impossible to sleep. A large, almost entire wall, window makes a big contribution to heating the room. There was nothing to do, I had to think about buying an air conditioner. When choosing an air conditioner, it turned out that the so-called split systems consist of two blocks, one of them is mounted on the wall of the room, the second one is mounted outside. The blocks are connected by copper tubes. In addition, it turned out that condensation forms in the indoor unit during operation, which must be drained through a special plastic tube. All these details made the installation of a split system extremely difficult, because if the pipes to the external unit could also be routed in boxes, then the condensate drain pipe could be routed inside the wall, and I just recently made a renovation and I don’t plan to break the walls included. These subtleties made me turn my attention to mobile air conditioners. I also liked the idea of such an air conditioner because I would not need to order installation and the floor air conditioner would fit into the interior more easily. The mood was slightly spoiled by the fact that when installing a mobile air conditioner it is necessary to remove hot air and for this purpose a plastic corrugated air duct with a diameter of almost 150 mm was supplied. However, this circumstance did not bother me much since the walls of my second floor are made of plasterboard, and making a through hole in them is quite simple. And so it happened. In order to make a hole in the wall, I needed a jigsaw and 10 minutes of time, so after an hour the air conditioner was already installed and could be turned on. Now it has been 3 years since we have been using this conditioner. What can be said about the pros and cons of mobile air conditioners based on the results of such a significant period of their operation? Unfortunately, it turned out that there are some disadvantages, but I’ll start with the advantages. So, here is a list of the advantages of mobile air conditioners.

Pros of a mobile air conditioner

  • Affordable price. Now an air conditioner of this type can be bought for 10 thousand rubles
  • Easy to install, but only if it is possible to make a hole in the wall of your house. Putting the pipe out the window, as the instructions advise, turned out to be not serious
  • decent appearance
  • built-in condensate collection tank with fill indicator (it should be noted that such a tank is not available in all models)
  • there is no need for frequent preventative maintenance (the issue is actually controversial, because absolutely any air conditioner needs to be cleaned. Dust passing through the air conditioner clogs the ducts intended for condensation, turns into mush and worsens the operation of the device as a whole.
  • presence of remote control, but this is not something special now

Disadvantages of a mobile air conditioner

  • There is only one minus, but a very serious one. If you weigh all the pros and this one minus will outweigh who knows what. The fact is that the air conditioner is very noisy, and it is especially noisy during the process of cooling the air, when, in addition to the main fan, a powerful compressor and a fan are turned on to blow out hot air. The compressor turns on so suddenly that sometimes you wake up. This feature does not allow you to turn on the air conditioner at night.

Mobile air conditioner - exhaust fan

Room air conditioners have another serious feature. I find it difficult to classify it as a plus or a minus. The fact is that while the air conditioner is working for cooling, it blows huge, simply gigantic volumes of air from the room into the street. It is quite obvious that the air in the room comes from other rooms. Indeed, the air flow into the air-conditioned room from other rooms is so strong that even the door is difficult to close. As a result, the need to blow air out of the room, firstly, means extremely effective ventilation of the room, and secondly, it means that a mobile room air conditioner will never be able to significantly lower the air temperature in the room. However, the air conditioner is functional and can easily turn the heat into a completely normal temperature of 22-23 degrees. At night, when it is not so hot outside and the air drawn into the room is noticeably colder, you can cool the room even more.

What's the end result?

After fumbling around with this mobile air conditioner for several years, I finally decided to install a split system. To do this, I had to dismantle one interior wall and remove several sheets of siding from one exterior wall of the house to hang the exterior unit and whatnot. Now all the problems are behind me, the air conditioner is working and I really enjoy it, because it is absolutely silent and at the same time cools like a beast. In addition, it also purifies the air, simultaneously enriching it with electrons. Lots of impressions. This is only the first article that I promised in the announcement (blog) on June 29. To be continued!

Who needs a mobile air conditioner, how to choose it, and how does it work? The portal site asked representatives of leading companies in the climate control technology market.

What is a mobile air conditioner

The main advantage of a mobile air conditioner is its simplicity of design and connection. Even its definition speaks to this - it is a monoblock unit that is designed to cool air and sometimes heat a small room (if it has the appropriate function).

In order for a household mobile air conditioner to work effectively, you need to remember that the ceiling height in the room should be approximately no higher than 2.5 m, and the area should be up to 35 square meters. m. There are also industrial mobile air conditioners that can cool large rooms, but in everyday life they are unlikely to add comfort, at least because of the strong noise.

Advantages of a mobile air conditioner

No installation required (no need to wait your turn until the installer gets to you)
. Ability to move freely between rooms
. No external unit
. Acceptable price

There are also disadvantages

Less energy efficient than other types of air conditioners
. There is a connection to a window or door (to remove warm air)
. Noisier than other types of air conditioners
. Takes up space on the floor
. Small power range

Leading companies in the industry talk about what modern mobile air conditioners are like, when they came to Russia, and what their market share is.

Alexey Zaitsev, technical director of MDV-Russia,:

“The price of good quality mobile air conditioners is very stable for 6-7 years. Noise characteristics have decreased over the years, but not very significantly, since the noisiest part - the compressor - is located indoors. But the overall quality of both components, assembly, and body parts has increased. Nowadays high quality plastic is used (on models of a good level, from good factories), the design has improved, even designer models have appeared.

At the same time, in the last couple of years, models from factories with not very good quality and, as a result, a low price.”

Ekaterina Sereshcheva, PR manager:

“Manufacturers are constantly improving their models, making the product more attractive to consumers. Already developed new principle operation of a mobile air conditioner: condensate no longer accumulates in the tank, but evaporates on the heat exchanger, which eliminates the option of using a pump and drain tank.”

Oleg Rulev, chief engineer, company:

“The main and most important advantage of a mobile air conditioner is ease of use. To install such an air conditioner, you will not need to call and additionally pay for the work of specially trained people, and due to the fact that this model is equipped with small rollers, the mobile air conditioner moves freely from one room to another, providing a comfortable temperature in the right rooms.

Stylish design, compact size, touch control panel, remote control, programmable timer, ease of operation - this is what a modern mobile air conditioner is. Thanks to these characteristics, the air conditioner is gradually becoming an indispensable assistant for a person in premises for a wide variety of purposes - an apartment, a summer house, a sales tent, a small store, a beauty salon, an office, etc.

Currently on Russian market presented a large number of mobile air conditioners from various manufacturers, the price of which varies from 10 thousand rubles for the most simple model and higher".

, head of the company's advertising department:

“Mobile air conditioners have appeared on the Russian climate control equipment market since its inception. In the early 90s they occupied a noticeable share, but from year to year it gradually decreased and at the end of 2010 it was already about 2%. In 2011, after an abnormal heat wave, the demand for mobile air conditioners increased sharply (almost 4 times in quantitative terms) and reached 5% of the market volume. In 2012, the market share of mobile air conditioners is projected to decline again and return to its usual two percent.

In a number of countries Western Europe, where only professionals have the right to install split systems and the cost of installation is very high, mobile air conditioners have a fairly large share of the climate control market compared to Russia. Here are some figures: UK 13%, Germany 40%, France 8%.”

Anatoly Polyakov, company marketing director:

“Of course, a mobile air conditioner is several orders of magnitude inferior to split systems in popularity, but it has its own buyer. The popularity of this type of air conditioner has almost tripled with the advent of abnormal summer 2010. Our company sold about 550 mobile air conditioners per season in 2009, and in 2010 and 2011 we sold more than 2,000 units each season.”

Who needs a mobile air conditioner?

There are a lot of good and different air conditioners, how do I understand that I need a mobile air conditioner and not some other? - the demanding reader will think, and he will be right.

Signs of people who need a mobile air conditioner, as well as situations where such a device would be the most optimal solution:

1. For a mobile person - a mobile air conditioner. By the way, all other signs will indirectly follow from the first point.

If you are renting a house, or are simply going to change your place of residence, and it is summer and even hot outside, a mobile air conditioner will become your savior. It does not require installation and is easy to connect. “A mobile air conditioner is not much different from, for example, refrigerators. I brought it home, plugged it in and, please, it works,” says Mikhail Beizman, head of the advertising department of the Euroclimate company. By the way, a number of mobile air conditioners also work for heating “on the principle of any electric heater, that is, there is a heating element,” adds Mikhail Beizman.

2. Our arrow has ripened everywhere.

Sometimes a decision is made instantly, and an air conditioner is needed now, or better yet, yesterday. Or the question is stark: now or never. In such cases, a mobile air conditioner is the ideal solution. You can quickly buy it, plug it into a power outlet, remove the air duct, and you're done. The air is already cooling. Whereas on hot days, as the experience of the summer of 2010-2011 showed, the queue for installation of a split system can wait several weeks. “A mobile air conditioner is a kind of first aid when it’s hot, when the queue for installing split systems stretches for weeks,” explains Anatoly Polyakov, marketing director of the TechnoClimat company.

3. It’s nice in the village in summer...

Even very good, especially if the house has a comfortable temperature, which a mobile air conditioner will help provide. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about its safety, because at the end of the summer season you can take it back to the city. For those living in the country all year round It’s better to buy a mobile air conditioner that also works for heating. In winter it will locally heat and in summer cool the air.

4. You or your loved ones are in hospital.

Not only is being in a hospital in the summer unpleasant in itself, but the climate in the hospital premises leaves much to be desired. In such a situation, an air conditioner will be a reliable assistant, especially since you can then take it home and use it, for example, at the dacha (see point 3).

5. Without windows, without doors, the room is full of people.

For many, the lack of a window in the office is a familiar problem. “In such a room you can install a mobile air conditioner and make an exhaust hood to remove air from it. Sometimes the air is diverted directly into some technical room,” says Mikhail Beizman. In such a situation, it is important to remember that the exhausted hot air should not flow back.

“Also, a mobile air conditioner will be a solution for air conditioning rooms where installing outdoor units on the facade is prohibited or laying a split system route is associated with great difficulties and considerable financial costs,” adds Mikhail Beizman.

How to choose a mobile air conditioner

“When selecting an air conditioner, you should take into account factors that reduce its actual performance,” recommends Alexey Zaitsev, technical director of MDV-Russia, AYAK Group of Companies. To do this, you need to understand the advantages and disadvantages of a mobile air conditioner. “Mobile air conditioners produce higher noise than split systems, since the noisiest part—the compressor—is located indoors. Most often, it is not installed at all, leaving a slightly open part of the window where warm air from the street penetrates, which reduces the actual performance of the air conditioner. Air for cooling the condenser is taken from the room and exhausted to the street, at the same time warm air comes from neighboring rooms, or, in the absence of installation, from the street. A mobile air conditioner has lower energy efficiency. coefficients in energy efficiency classes are completely different for mobile air conditioners and split systems; for mobile air conditioners the coefficients are lower,” adds Alexey Zaitsev.

For those who study the issue thoroughly.
How does a mobile air conditioner work?

A mobile air conditioner consists of a plastic or metal box containing a compressor, condenser, evaporator, filter, and other parts, and a “trunk” - an air duct that removes excess heat to the street. Accordingly, the device has two openings: through the first, air is taken in for heating through the condenser and removing it from the room. The second is for cooling and cleaning; To do this, the air passes through a filter and evaporator.

Provided by GC "AYAK"

Oleg Rulev explained how a mobile air conditioner in which condensate evaporates works: “at average operating modes of a mobile air conditioner, condensate is removed along with warm air through the air tube in the form of vapor, while in more early models The condensate enters a container that will have to be emptied regularly.”
