  • salt;
  • water.

Actually there are many various recipes, but we offer the simplest and most economical.

Take a bowl and pour 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt into it. Add glue (10 tablespoons of flour should account for 2 tablespoons of glue). Stir and gradually add water. It is better to adjust the density level of the dough yourself. It should not be very liquid in consistency. If there is a lot of water, just add flour.

The result should be a dough that is homogeneous in composition, which wrinkles well, but does not stick to the hands.

Making a fruit basket

Salt dough modeling for beginners involves the creation of simple figures. Even a toddler can handle it. Let's start with a simple fruit basket. It is recommended to lay an oilcloth on the table.

First, roll a large even ball of dough in your palms. Now we will make a sausage out of it, rolling it on the table. It should turn out to be the same diameter along the entire length. We add a circle from it and connect it. It turns out a kind of round frame. We press it with a plank so that it flattens. This will be the basket itself and the pen.

With a ruler or a knife, we make indentations in the form of strips on the dough. So our basket will take on a relief and look like a wicker basket.

We make fruit from rolled dough balls. We will have pears, apples and grapes in the basket. Apples are easy to make, they are almost round, you just need to make indentations at the top and bottom. The pear needs to be pulled up a little and also make holes. Don't forget cuttings. Roll into small balls for grapes.

Now it remains to glue the fruit on the bottom of the dough circle so that it looks like they are in a basket. Here's your first piece!

Modeling from salt dough paintings: a master class

From salt dough, you can sculpt not only different figures, but also make pictures. Cardboard is usually used for the substrate, but a sheet of plywood can also be used. We distribute a uniform layer of dough over the substrate.

We form the details of the picture. In our case, these are roses and leaves. Flower petals are made from thin sheets of dough. We draw veins on the leaves with a sharp object. Each figure is glued to the picture. If the dough has dried up in some places and does not want to stick together, you can simply moisten this place with water.

Cat with string bags

MK Marina Arkhipova
Sculpt "Cat with string bags". The dough is traditional, I heard this recipe 12 years ago, I still use it only. Salt dough: 300 gr. flour (2 cups), 300 gr. salt "Extra" (1 glass), 200 mg. water (almost a full glass), 1 tbsp. sunflower spoon oil (or without it). If you need a tender dough, then I sift the "Extra" salt through a sieve. After kneading, I fold the dough into a floor. package and in the refrigerator. I do the sculpting the next day. In the meantime, I'm thinking about the plot - sketches. here is an example...

Then the frame is selected, outlined inner side frames on paper are the boundaries of sculpting. I have one drawback, according to the composition, the crafts should still be smaller. I draw the plot of what should be where. Just hints - everything will be hidden under the test

I usually start from the bottom, from the paws. We take a piece of dough, roll out the sausage, divide it in half. We roll each piece into a ball - then into a droplet or an oval. Lay out according to the drawing on paper and outline the fingers with a stack, you can also claws.

Similarly, i.e. we start paired parts with sausages - we divide them in half and roll them into the necessary shapes, in this case the legs are two sausages. Moisten the place where the parts are fastened slightly with water, smooth with your finger and can be powdered with flour. And also notice how the details of the legs lie according to the drawing - they will vomit on the body. This is then to connect the details of the cat.

The tail also went under the tummy. Torso - roll the ball in the palms until there are no cracks, flatten it, and put it according to the drawing. At the same time, I remind you to moisten those parts (legs, tail) that are in contact with the body. Again, an overlap is made on the drawing of the head.

While the dough is raw, we immediately make notches with a stack, this is wool.
I continue to work according to the drawing from bottom to top.
I fill the bags.

And here are the bags. I wanted to do it in the form of grids, but time regretted it. So it's a little rough. but like this. She closed the sausage and fish.

Now the paws that hold the bags. The overlap goes on the body and on the handles of the bags.

Roll out the dough into a ball, smoothly transfer it into a droplet on the palms, where there is a thickening on one side, this is for the fingers.

Cut or incise (as in the plot) fingers with a stack. And claws can be made on the product itself, at the same time, the parts will cling to each other better.

Two paws "grabbed" the bags. Moisten the place of contact with the body, flatten and stroke (gently).

The head is a ball, flatten in the palms, put according to the drawing. I sculpted and photographed myself, so I tell you - smooth it with your fingers, flatten it a little with your palm. Notice in this case, I pressed a little the place where the eyes will be, i.e. highlighted the muzzle. And in other cats, I impose it (two ovals). Ears - two balls, flatten, in the form of petals - and press into place. Do not forget to moisten the bonding points. Press the stack - these are the ear cavities. On the ears and muzzle, make a relief - fur.

On the ears and muzzle, make a relief - fur. With a rounded stack, while the dough is raw, I form a muzzle, open my mouth and reveal my lower lip. Eyes - two balls, nose - oval. Why such big holes, I make them with a toothpick, very deep, so that later I can glue the mustache.

The last details are sausages on the neck and on the bag. The properties of the dough have not been fully studied, but it rises during drying. I try to dry like this - I make cuts on the paper, and remove it as much as possible. But this must be done very carefully, the work dries, a little cracks will appear. And now in the oven, at the lowest temperature and until they dry out. this is determined by clicking on the craft, but after 2-3 hours.

The painting is very difficult, because. multilayer. I hooked my eyes on this, or maybe already age? I paint with gouache (any).
First, I prime the eyes, muzzle, tummy and paws with white gouache.
The second layer, in this case blue - with a thin brush No. 1, I draw hairs in the form. It’s tedious, while I hold the craft in my hands, on my knees, twist and turn and swear (someone sculpts so that I can’t get it with a brush). Immediately went the second layer of hairs, darker.

Here is the second layer.

Third layer, Wool finished - now easier. During painting, the emphasis is on the nose, so it will be the last one.

That's all! Then I cover with varnish, any main colorless and mount it in the assembled frame. That is, fiberboard is pasted over with wallpaper, the color of the frame is consistent with the craft, all fastenings are made.
I now have an already overdried cat (no time or heat). Together with my daughter, I will try to show the painting in more detail.
