New world Golitsyn trail map. Crimea. Golitsyn trail. How to get to the Golitsyn Trail

The Golitsyn Trail is one of the attractions of the New World. How to get there by boat and bus in the 2019 season. Excursion routes along the Golitsyn trail.

They say that in Crimea, like in Sochi, every Russian vacations at least once in his life. Good climate, interesting places and the beauty of nature not only generate inspiration in creative minds, but also compensate for the shortcomings of service and infrastructure for those who deserve a break from everyday work. For centuries, structures have been erected on the territory of Crimea that have become world-famous landmarks.

One of them is the Golitsyn trail. Even those who are located far from the New World are worth seeing it and following the tourist route.

Popular excursions in Sudak

The most interesting excursions are routes from local residents on Tripster. You can start with . See a relict juniper grove and a local coral reef, take a walk along the Paradise Valley. In nearby cities best route. Alushta Professor's Corner is the Crimean Rublyovka, in a mini version and in the Soviet style.

History of the trail

The path was carved into the rock by order of Prince Golitsyn in 1912 for the arrival of Emperor Nicholas II. The prince really wanted to please the royal person by building a path in one of the. The view of the sea surface from the heights of the cliffs fascinates with its beauty. After a walk along the path, Nicholas II was invited by the prince to the table, where he was treated to locally produced champagne wines. Having tasted them, he declared that life for him appeared in "new world".

According to local legend, it was these words of the Russian autocrat that subsequently gave the name to the village located near the Golitsyn path. She herself received the name in honor of her creator.

Excursion route along the Golitsyn trail

The Golitsyn trail, about 3,000 m long, is located near the village of Novy Svet and originates from the northern slope of Mount Koba-Kaya. This mountain is otherwise called Peshternaya because of the many natural grottoes and caves formed as a result of the influence of the sea and the uneven movement of limestone rocks.

The route ends near Cape Kapchik. Being an attraction in itself, the Golitsyn trail has several more places that make it a real one.

Grotto of Chaliapin (Golitsyn)

The main celebrity of the trail is Golitsyn's grotto, which is also called Chaliapin's grotto. This natural formation was created by nature during the movement of rocks of Mount Koba-Kaya and is a cave, in the depths of which stone arches that served Prince Golitsyn for storing wine are still preserved. In the center of the grotto there is a well dug, which, despite its proximity to the sea, is always filled with crystal clear spring water, which has no sign of salinity.

It is believed that Chaliapin himself sang in this grotto. Legend has it that the strength of his voice, which filled the small space of the cave, caused one of Prince Golitsyn’s wine bottles to burst.

Tsarskaya Bay

Blue Bay, which received august persons into its waters royal family, has another name - Tsarskaya. It is located in front of Cape Kapchik. During the times of the ancient Greeks, pirate ships hid there from persecution. Swimming in the waters of Blue Bay is especially pleasant on a hot day. Having regained your strength, you can continue your journey along the Golitsyn trail.

Juniper Grove

After the Blue Bay, the traveler finds himself in a juniper grove. The aroma floating in it gives rise to only positive thoughts: for smokers - leave this bad habit, non-smoking - continue healthy image life. The fragrance of juniper allows you to fully experience the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the self-sufficient beauty of nature.

Cape Kapchik and Turtle Island

No one can be left indifferent and Turtle Island, located at Cape Kapchik, is the end point of the route. The outline of the island is so reminiscent of a giant turtle that it seems as if it is really in time immemorial was alive, and then turned to stone.

Where is the Golitsyn trail?

The Golitsyn Trail is located in the southeastern part of Crimea near the village of Novy Svet. At a distance of 88 km in a southwestern direction is the resort town of Alushta. Seaside is located 8 km to the east. In close proximity to the New World there are resort villages: Vesyoloye, Privetnoye. From the west and north, the New World is tightly closed by mountains, and its southern part is limited by the sea. This location makes it look like an island of calm and serenity. No wonder it has been valued by artists, poets and writers at all times.

The Golitsyn Trail is another reason why vacationers regularly visit the village of Novy Svet.

Golitsyn Trail - how to get there

After reading, many will have a reasonable question - how to get to the Golitsyn trail? This can be done in two ways: by land and by sea.

Boat trips from Sudak, Alushta or Yalta will be a great addition to traveling along the trail itself. The road to minibus or on a tour bus. The difference is that in the second case you will have to get to the New World first, and from there on foot or by any available means of transport (boat, taxi) to the beginning of the route.

Even more interesting will be a trip to the Golitsyn trail in a personal or rented car. When you are not dependent on the poorly organized crowd of the excursion group, you can take a better look at the surrounding landscapes and stop at any place you like.

Where to stay - hotels in the New World

If you want to stay in this place (and the New World, the trail and its surroundings often evoke such a desire), we recommend a couple of hotels:

We walked along the famous tourist route of Crimea - the Golitsyn Trail. Our journey began from the marvelous village of Novy Svet.

The resort village of Novy Svet was formerly called Paradise (Paradise). This name suits him very well! It's heavenly beautiful here!

Views like a postcard

From here begins the “Golitsyn Trail” route with truly postcard views.

A considerable part beautiful photos Crimea was made right here. And I agree with the statements of those people who say: “If you haven’t walked along the Golitsyn Trail, then you haven’t seen Crimea at all!”, although this statement can also be applied to other places of the peninsula...

A brief history of the creation of the Golitsyn Trail

I won't bore the readers detailed history creation of the Golitsyn trail - a lot has been written about this on the Internet and guidebooks to Crimea.

Briefly, the path was cut down in Mount Koba-Kaya along the sea in the 12th year of the last century. This was ordered by Prince Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn (he had an estate here) in anticipation of the visit of Nicholas II and his family.

Golitsyn wanted to delight the emperor with one of the most picturesque places in Crimea, and at the same time, so that the imperial persons would feel comfortable walking there.

Interestingly, the Golitsyn trail had another name - Sokolinaya, but this name did not stick.

Golitsyn's path - for beauty!

So, we begin our walk from the beach in the village of Novy Svet.

The Golitsyn Trail stretches from the southwestern shore of Green Bay (on most maps it is called Sudak-Liman), first along the northeastern and then along the southern slope of Koba-Kai.

The height of the mountain (also called the Cave Mountain) is 156 meters. There are many caves and grottoes in it (one of them is Golitsynsky, we will see it soon).

The entrance opens with a brick arch, as if in some kind of city park.

Nearby there are boards with the usual rules of nature reserves: you cannot damage trees, burn fires, smoke, collect plants, bird feathers and eggs, put up tents, leave garbage, draw on rocks, carve inscriptions on trees, etc. We must stick to the path (so that walkers do not trample all the plants). For all violations there is a fine.

Tourists are different. Unfortunately, the reserve's workers have to remind visitors about the rules of behavior in nature.

Start here beautiful views from the Golitsyn trail to the New World, sea and mountains.

Along the way there are some nice swimming pools that you just want to cool off in! But we stoically fight temptations, because we have big plans for this day.

Literally every few meters new landscapes open up.

Through the open gate near the pyramidal stone with the inspiring inscription “Be careful, rockfall!” We find ourselves in a picturesque grotto.

Golitsyn's path. Gate

Golitsyn's path. Grotto with stairs

Pay attention to the stairs. Can you imagine how much effort it took to arrange the path in the mountains like this? We can be grateful to the prince for such a memory throughout the centuries.

The Golitsyn trail is truly golden. It was built by the Turks, to whom the prince paid 5 rubles in gold per cubic meter of work - a huge amount of money at that time!

The path, carved into the rock, is fenced on the side of the cliff above the sea with stonework.

The steps go up and then down along the curve of the rock.

The stairs go up first

And then he runs downstairs

Golitsyn Grotto

We go around the bend and see the huge Golitsyn Grotto.

Not a grotto, but a grotto! I think a vertical shot would better convey the sensations, although it’s still far from reality. It can easily accommodate more than one hundred people.

This is how you can better see the scale of Golitsyn’s grotto

By the way, there are a lot of people here. It is in Golitsyn's grotto that most tourists linger for a long time. It's cool here and you can relax in the shade.

Previously, the prince kept his rich wine library with Crimean wines here.

Wine bottles used to be stored here.

And then there was a scene

The bravest ones love to dive in the heat at the grotto.

Managed to film the gurgle

Having climbed the bend of the stairs, we climb the path. The path lies to Cape Kapchik.

Photo for memory

Excursion boats and boats rush back and forth across the sea.

The inscription “New World 2018” on the boat

Cape Kapchik is visible ahead, looking like a dolphin diving into the sea.

View of Cape Kapchik and Karaul-Obu

Is it really similar?

Why not a dolphin?

On the other hand, from Mount Karaul-Oba, Cape Kapchik looks different and resembles a lizard.

And on this side - it’s no longer a dolphin, but a strange snake crawling into the sea

We are not the only ones who want to admire the beauty. Tourist season has already begun and you can find such congestion on the stairs.

There are also beautiful rocks here.

And small caves.

The sea in the New World is clean and transparent.

The air is unusually fragrant, filled with the healing aromas of juniper and Sudak pine (endemic - it is a subspecies of Pitsunda pine and grows only in the Crimea). There are many growing in the New World rare species plants listed in the Red Book.

Blue Bay (also called Razboinichya, because, according to legend, Black Sea pirates lay in ambush here) is very picturesque. But boats constantly moor to it and the entrance to the water is over huge stones. We didn't stay here long.

Blue Bay is really blue

If someone, having seen the stairway to heaven, suddenly feels that they want to go back to the village (or just swim on the beach and don’t want to go anywhere), then you can call a sea taxi directly from the beach of Robber Bay.

The prices are not bad. Sightseeing boat trip 2 thousand rubles per person? I wonder what is included in this walk and how long does it last? We rode along for 1.5 hours Karadag Reserve for 1800 for four!

Let's go to Cape Kapchik. Even up close he looks like a dolphin.

Cape Kapchik is already close

Here the juniper grove already begins, but we turn left to a cape that protrudes into the sea for more than 300 meters.

Bridge of Love

Juniper Grove

Most of the Golitsyn Trail has been completed. There it is, winding in a light stripe along the slope, see?

She's the one! Golitsyn's path!

Cape Kapchik was once an ocean reef. All sorts of ancient strange creatures floated above it, perhaps somewhat similar to the appearance of this cape.

Top of Cape Kapchika

There are amazing views from Kapchik. In general, the region is just of these types.

To the left we admire Mount Koba-Kaya, where we came from. The Golitsyn Path is clearly visible - a lighter stripe.

Mount Koba-Kaya

From here you can see the city of Sudak, where we settled, and Cape Alchak, similar to big turtle or a toad.

Sudak can be seen in the distance in the haze. To the right is Cape Alchak

To the right is a view of the Blue Bay, Mount Karaul-Obu (I can’t even believe that we will go there) and Tsarsky Beach.

View from Kapchik to Mount Karaul-Oba

Karaul-Oba is a beautiful mountain. Looks like the profile of a lying dragon.

Its outlines are known to all residents of our large country by famous film"Pirates of the 20th Century" (1979). It was in the Blue Bay that a ship transporting opium took refuge. The mountain of South-Eastern Crimea played the role of a mountain of South-East Asia in the film.

We walk along the path along the Black Sea...

The Through Grotto is almost eighty meters long and up to seventeen meters high. A tectonic fault occurred here and a natural cave was formed in the form of a tunnel, connecting the bays on both sides of Kapchik.

Through the bars you can look inside the Through Grotto. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

There's a whole colony here bats.

The walls of the grotto resemble the famous Cheese Rocks of Crimea.

Previously, along the Golitsyn Path you could walk all the way to the Tsarskoye Beach, but after the earthquake of 1927, part of the path collapsed, and now, before soaking up the beach, you need to go around another, distant path.

We climb back along the picturesque path.

We go to the Relict Juniper Grove.

Relict juniper grove

We admire the fabulous curves and twisted trees.

And pistachios, the age of which inspires respect and envy.

If only we could live a thousand years! We wish we could see so much on our beautiful planet!

How to get to the Golitsyn Trail

You can get here in four ways: from the New World embankment, through the juniper grove, through Veselovskaya Bay and by sea.

Golitsyn Trail on the map (the map can be moved, zoomed out and enlarged):

From the Embankment past the New World brand store, located on the right (southern) part of the embankment.

Coordinates of the entrance to the Golitsyn Path from the embankment: 44.825010, 34.916128.

Graffiti – pointer to the Golitsyn Path

Entrance through the Relict Juniper Grove. Walk from the village food market, past the initial educational school“Istok” (focus on the address Golitsyna St., 40).

Entrance coordinates to the Juniper Grove: 44.825223, 34.908595.

Sea Taxi runs from Novy Svet, Vesely (meaning Veselovskaya Bay, of course), Sudak, Morskoye (prices respectively: 150, 250, 300, 350 rubles per person, depending on the place of departure, see photo above). Usually delivered to Tsarsky Beach. From there there is no direct route to the Golitsyn Trail; ask to be dropped off at Razboinichiya Bay. Sea taxi is offered starting from the street. Chaliapin, and in the area of the embankment, you don’t even have to look for it - they will offer it to you.

From Veselovskaya Bay I recommend going to those who love mountain hiking. From there the farthest route is through Mount Karaul-Oba, a walk of more than 3 kilometers over rough terrain. The most shortcut from there through Hell Valley, a very picturesque place. Start the road from the left (southern) part of the beach.

Coordinates of the beginning of the trail from Veselovskaya Bay: 44.81872, 34.88592.

Route length. Everywhere they indicate that the length of the Golitsyn Trail is 5,470 meters. Probably, this is some kind of circular route, or with a return back the same way, or with a visit to Tsarskoye Beach...

Scheme map of the Golitsyn trail

We walked from the entrance at the embankment to the exit from the juniper grove (we went to Tsarsky Beach separately, I don’t count it). It turned out to be about 3 kilometers. It is 1600 meters to Cape Kapchik, from it to the Through Grotto plus 450 m, from the Through Grotto to the exit from the Juniper Grove another 800 m. Apparently, if you go back along the same road, then there will be almost 6 km mentioned everywhere. But people usually walk in one direction, since the route is a semicircle.

Difficulty of the Golitsyn Trail route. The path is not difficult, there are fences in dangerous places. Pensioners and people with small children go there (well, maybe you’ll have to carry 3-year-olds – that’s up to you to decide). So if you are more or less healthy, go ahead! Yes, it can be quite difficult for very obese people, there are a lot of ups and downs. But they are not extreme! Everywhere, where it is more or less steep, there are steps or railings. And where they are not there, there is no need to go there. This text was stolen from the Roads of the World website (site)!

Do not linger long in places where rockfall is possible (especially in wet weather). Dangerous places there aren't many here and they are marked with warning signs.

Tours usually run from Juniper Grove to the waterfront exit. It seems to me that the route from Green Bay is more interesting. And going uphill is always easier for me than going down (I don’t think I’m so unique).

Prices. Entrance to the Golitsyn Trail from all sides is free. Although, they say, they used to charge 100 rubles here. And it’s right that admission is free. If a person is vacationing in the New World, then walking along this path every day with the whole family means going broke. And from here there is also a way to Karaul-Oba, and to Veselovskaya Bay.

An organized excursion from Sudak costs 300 rubles. per adult, 250 per child.

In my opinion, It's better to walk here on your own. Not with a tour. I saw these groups of 20 people, what joy is it to walk in a crowd? Well, if you don’t find out a couple of facts, you can read it on the Internet if you wish. But you will enjoy a leisurely walk.

The views from the Golitsyn trail will not leave anyone indifferent

Best time to visit: in summer - a cool day (there is practically no shade, except perhaps the Golitsyn Grotto and small caves along the way, and rare spreading trees), in the cold season - calm. It is better to walk in dry weather, the paths here are mostly dirt, and it will be difficult to walk on wet ones.

In summer, choose cool hours, preferably in the morning - the walk will be easier and there will be fewer people.

The Golitsyn Trail takes about 2 hours. We walked for 3 hours (without swimming). In the warm season, it is possible (even most likely) that you will want to swim or have a photo shoot, in which case expect more time.

Be sure to take it drinking water! There are no water sales points in the mountains.

And yes, check the toilet before your walk. There are no amenities on the route for the impatient. Therefore, all the nooks and crannies here, to put it mildly, smell...

Wear comfortable shoes, preferably sneakers or hiking sandals. There are a lot of pebbles on the Golitsyn Trail, the trail itself is dusty, and when descending you can ride a little on stone chips.

Comfortable shoes also mean safety. In summer, sunglasses and a hat are required.

If you are thinking of swimming, take your swimwear.

Keep an eye on small children. The trail is quite simple, but in some places there are no fences.

Don't stand on the edge of cliffs, they are not as reliable as they seem. In any case, go only to those places that are well trodden by tourists. By the way, deviations from the paths in the reserve are prohibited.

Any technique that can be used to shoot is a must! Otherwise you will bite your elbows.

If you are in the New World, be sure to walk the Golitsyn Trail! This is a real decoration Black Sea coast Crimea.

There are quite a lot of them that can only be seen after a long walk. However, there is hardly a more interesting hiking route than the Golitsyn Trail in the New World. Don't be afraid that the excursion will be difficult:

  • the path is carefully monitored, so all the steps and railings are in place;
  • along the way you will find many places to relax and you can even lie on the cleanest shore and swim in the azure water;
  • The climbs will be replaced by descents and flat areas.

Where is it located: the southwestern shore of Green Bay in the village of Novy Svet (Sudak).

What is the most convenient way to get there?: from the bus station along Golitsyn Street, then left to Shalyapin Street. Further - to the sea: you will come out to Green Bay. Follow the signs and you will find a grate from which the ascent to the Golitsyn Trail begins.

What time of year is best to visit?: best in summer and early autumn - then you can not only enjoy the scenery, but also swim.

Already the photos of the Golitsyn Trail can awe everyone who loves seascapes. During your walk, you will see breathtakingly beautiful cliffs, cozy coves with crystal water, and an ancient juniper grove. It is very convenient that you can go for a walk along the Golitsyn Trail without a guide: the main attractions here are natural and do not need explanations.

History of the Golitsyn Trail in the New World

The Golitsyn Trail is a legacy of the 20th century: it was built by Prince Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn in 1912 for the arrival of Nicholas II. He rightly decided that it was a walk that would allow the emperor to fully enjoy the beauty eastern Crimea, that’s why he ordered steps to be cut on the slope of Mount Koba-Kaya.

The estate of Prince Golitsyn was called Paradise. According to legend, it was Nicholas II who gave the village at the foot of the mountain a new name. After the walk, Lev Sergeevich invited the emperor to the table, where he treated him to champagne made from grapes grown on his estate. Nicholas II was so pleased with the drink that he said that he now sees everything in a new light. This is how the village received its current name!

Route of the Golitsyn trail

The Golitsyn trail in Crimea is carved on the cliffs of Mount Koba-Kaya - an ancient coral reef. The road immediately rises sharply, and the rocks hanging from above and the steep cliff just next to the path are breathtaking. But there is nothing to be afraid of: the stone parapet will not let you stumble. The higher you go, the more beautiful it looks resort village New World!

The first stop on the Golitsyn trail is the Chaliapin Grotto (also called the Variety Grotto or Golitsyn Grotto). This is a natural niche carved into the mountain by waves. The height of the grotto is about 30 m, the width is 17 m. This place has rich history: Back in the Middle Ages, there was a cave monastery here. Until the 19th century, the walls of the cave were decorated with frescoes, but they have not survived to this day. Prince Golitsyn ordered a wine library to be built in the grotto: stone arches remind of the stunning collection of the first Crimean winemaker. In the center of the cave there is a well with spring water, and in the deep center of the hall there is a stage where musicians gave performances and, according to legend, F.I. himself sang. Chaliapin! True, historians are still arguing whether the brilliant singer really visited the New World. That doesn’t stop the grotto and one of the streets in the village from bearing his name.

Next, the Golitsinskaya trail leads along the coast of the Blue Bay. It is also called Robbery, because pirate ships hid here during storms during the times of the ancient Hellenes. The path goes down to the very shore: the photo of the Golitsyn path shows that many travelers happily stop here to sunbathe and swim!

Further, the path passes along Cape Kapchik, which connects Razboinichya and Blue Bays. Here is also the Through Grotto - a 77-meter cave, laid along a tectonic fault. In this place you will be able to take unforgettable photos of the Golitsyn Trail - through the “view windows” you can see stunning views of the bays.

From Cape Kapchik there is a magnificent view of the Blue Bay and Tsarsky Beach - it was here that Nicholas II sunbathed. At this point the landscaped part of the Golitsyn trail ends. An excellent end to the walk would be to climb Cape Kapchik and return to the village through the juniper forest. The shady path and the amazing smell of trees, many of which are more than a hundred years old, will complement the excursion with its colors!

By the way, the beauty of the Golitsyn Trail in Crimea has been attracting filmmakers for many decades. Thus, it was here that such famous films as “Pirates of the 20th Century”, “Three Plus Two”, “Sportloto-82”, “Andromeda Nebula”, “Youths in the Universe”, “Anna Karenina” and many others were filmed.

Everything that Crimea is loved for - picturesque landscapes of the sea and mountain peaks, azure secluded bays, mysterious caves and grottoes - can be seen on this unique walking route, which begins in the vicinity of the village of Novy Svet.

The length of the Golitsyn trail is 5470 meters

Prince Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn is considered the founder of winemaking on the peninsula.

Golitsyn Trail (New World): history

The history of the trail dates back to 1912, when the famous Crimean winemaker, Prince Lev Golitsyn, hosted the family of the last Russian emperor. Lev Sergeevich set the goal of showing his possessions in the most at its best and ordered the beautification of the most beautiful path, which since ancient times had stretched along the seashore. The construction of the trail was carried out by workers from Turkey specially hired by the prince. On the path, surrounded by rocks, picturesque observation decks and reliable stone steps. At that time, the village from which the route along the trail began was called Paradise.

Emperor Nicholas II arrived in the village with his family on the yacht “Standart”.

After walking along the path along the sea and tasting champagnes, he spoke enthusiastically about the reception. Namely, he said that he saw life in a new light. This is exactly how the legends say, the village of Paradise received the name by which it is known to modern tourists - the New World.

The Golitsyn trail is unique trip into the world of Crimean nature and the interesting history of the peninsula.

The route begins near the western part of the beaches of the village of Novy Svet and ends at the cape with funny name Kapchik. You can get to the New World either by private car or by car. public transport from Sudak. In summer, both buses and boats from Yalta and Alushta go to Sudak.

So, you are in the New World. The Golitsyn trail starts at the foot of Mount Koba-Kaya (it is also called Cave because large quantity grottoes and cavities). The easiest way to navigate is western edge beaches (if you look at the sea, the entrance to the path will be on the right). The picturesque gateway to the trail is marked by a stone arch. Before starting the route, make sure that you have a sufficient supply of water - at least one liter per person on a hot day (there are no shops or cafes on the trail), comfortable sports shoes. The trail is generally quite comfortable for walking, but in some places there are scatterings of small stones. However, the route is accessible even to children.

Mount Koba-Kaya

Golitsyn's Grotto

The very first attraction on the route is the famous and legendary Golitsyn Grotto. Its history begins many centuries ago, when ancient tribes lived on the territory of the trail. At first, the spacious grotto served them as a safe haven, because its depth is about 20 meters. Then Christian temples arose in the caves, now lost. Centuries later, Prince Golitsyn appreciated the spacious grotto and turned it into a storage room for his wines. The remains of the cellar are still visible to tourists - neat niches for Golitsyn bottles. The acoustics of the grotto made it possible to place a unique concert hall here. Tastings of champagne wines combined with musical accompaniment delighted the prince’s guests. Famous singer Russian Empire, F.I. Chaliapin also performed at the Golitsyn Grotto.

Nowadays, the grotto also hosts classical music concerts by candlelight. And many tourists take a bottle of New World sparkling wine with them on their route to experience the atmosphere that once delighted the emperor. In the most intense Crimean heat, a pleasant coolness reigns in the grotto.

Unfortunately, during the powerful Crimean earthquake in 1927, the grotto was significantly damaged, and now it has not been fully restored. However, its greatness still amazes the imagination. By the way, the entire trail was damaged during the earthquake. It began to be restored in the 80s of the last century.

Path of Fidelity

According to legend, one of the most difficult sections of Golitsyn was called the “path of fidelity” in ancient times. A rich and powerful king, returning from long campaigns, checked his wives and concubines for fidelity in the following way: Heavy jugs of water were placed on the heads of the women, with which they had to walk along the path without spilling the water. It was believed that if a woman was faithful to her husband, she would not be nervous and the water would not spill.

“Path of Fidelity” - now this section is not part of the tourist route.

Throughout almost the entire route, the trail passes literally a few meters from transparent sea. In hot weather it is very pleasant to cool off in clear water and continue on your way.

The next attraction on the Golitsyn trail is the picturesque Blue Bay. beauty pure water It just beckons you to swim in it on a hot day. Another name for it is Smugglers Bay. In this quiet harbor, as legends say, smugglers hid their boats and goods in numerous caves. Nowadays there is a boatman on duty in the bay during the season, who transports everyone to Tsarsky Beach.

In the vicinity of the bay, an underwater cave attracts extreme lovers. You can get there only with sufficient diving experience and the necessary equipment. And be sure to take with you a guide who knows the cave itself well. Otherwise, you may not return to the trail.

Winding paths leading away from the main trail also hide interesting sights. For example, the Through Grotto, which is closed to tourists after a tragic incident in 2006. Then a stone fell from the grotto ceiling and fell on a tourist from Poland. Now the entrance to the grotto is closed with a grate, through which the entire cave can be seen through. Standing at the grate, you can feel the cold cave air, which is wonderfully refreshing on hot days.

The through grotto is a unique cave of natural origin that runs right through Cape Kapchik and connects two bays, Golubaya and Sinyaya, on both sides of it. The length of this grotto is amazing - 77 meters underground.

He was discovered and appreciated by Prince Golitsyn. By order of the prince, the entrance to the cave was ennobled with stone, stone steps were built from the grotto to the water, and a door was installed in the ancient style. A lover of everything unusual, the prince organized luxurious banquets in the grotto, which were attended by the emperor himself. The ceiling of the cave became home to many bats. The grotto is also dangerous due to rockfalls.

Cape Kapchik

From Blue Bay the trail goes to the top of Cape Kapchik. This is one of the most beautiful and mysterious capes of the peninsula. It resembles a giant lizard or dragon, forever frozen in sea waters. The origin of the name of the cape is still not completely clear, but most researchers believe that “kapchik” is translated from the Crimean Tatar language either as “shoes” or as “monk’s wallet.” If you look closely, the elongated shape of the cape really looks like a long dervish wallet.

Blue (Tsar's Bay)

On the other side of the cape is Golubaya, or Tsarskaya Bay. If you look at the water from the top of Cape Kapchik, you can really see that the color of the water in the bays is different. In Tsar's Bay there is a more secluded beach where the Romanov family once swam. Now you can get there either by boat or along the steep winding paths of the cape.

Blue Bay (Tsarskaya Bay)

The water in Tsarskaya Bay has an amazing azure color thanks to the special rocks that make up the bottom of the bay. And the sand on the beach is dark, almost black, which adds additional exoticism to this unique corner of nature.

Juniper grove on the Golitsyn trail

The route along the Golitsyn trail ends with a unique juniper grove, which is now part of the protected area. Some trees are up to fifty years old. A walk through the juniper grove is not only pleasant, but also very good for health. The phytoncides produced by juniper can purify the air from harmful substances. Strong sea winds fancifully bent the tree trunks, turning the grove into fairy forest. In addition to juniper, beautiful pine trees grow on the slopes of the mountains. All this makes the surrounding landscapes an excellent location for cinema. The azure water allowed filmmakers to film believable scenes of exotic landscapes. Views of the Golitsyn Trail and the surrounding landscapes are forever captured in Soviet adventure films. Among them are “Treasure Island”, “Pirates of the 20th Century”. They filmed “Amphibian Man” and the foreign scenes of “Anna Karenina” here.
