Rating of furniture guides for sliding wardrobes. Mechanisms for sliding wardrobe doors. Which brand of coupe systems to choose?

When choosing a sliding wardrobe, absolutely any buyer is faced with the problem: which sliding door system will be in his closet. In this review, we propose to familiarize ourselves with the main existing systems and try to determine the pros and cons of each of them.

Let's first understand what is included in the concept wardrobe door systems. In simple terms: a door system is a set of lower and upper guides along which, in fact, compartment doors should move.

Video review of door systems for sliding wardrobes.

So, there are two different systems: steel, which belongs to the “economy class”, and aluminum, which belongs to the “luxury” class.

We will provide a comparative description of each system based on the most popular manufacturers (Komandor, Raumplus, Soft, Stanley, Simline, etc.). How to choose the best system is a complex question. It all depends on the required design and price.

Each system has its pros and cons.

Aluminum sliding door systems for sliding wardrobes.

Pros of the system:

  • silent, due to the fact that the rollers are used on ball bearings;
  • when making a cabinet with transparent or glass doors, the rollers are not visible from either the outside or the inside, which gives the cabinet a beautiful appearance;
  • durable profile allows you to install doors up to 5 meters high;
  • The system allows you to produce combined doors, for example, chipboard + mirror, chipboard + leather or rattan;
  • original design;
  • colors: matte gold, matte silver, old bronze or lined with PVC film to imitate wood.
  • the rollers do not have a hook, that is, when closing or opening the doors, they can jump off the runners, but are easily inserted into place.

Steel door systems for sliding wardrobes.

Regardless of the manufacturer, all steel systems for sliding wardrobes have the following advantages:

  • high-quality roller system equipped with a mechanism to prevent doors from slipping;
  • inexpensive option - this is the optimal ratio of price and quality of the product;
  • a wide range of colors, which makes such systems more attractive and makes it possible to fit them into any interior;
  • When making transparent doors, the rollers will be viewed from both sides.

So, steel systems will allow you to create a reliable, high-quality and, last but not least, inexpensive sliding wardrobe. However, only standard processing methods will be used for such a cabinet; in this case, there is no possibility to add design nuances.

Let's add one more plus to both steel and aluminum sliding systems - photo printing on the doors. For absolutely any system of sliding wardrobes, you can use photo printing on the doors. This will make each cabinet unique, put on it, for example, a favorite photograph or just a beautiful, soothing landscape and create a warm, cozy atmosphere in the house.

Sliding wardrobes today are one of the most popular types of furniture for residential premises. They are relevant for living rooms, bedrooms and children's rooms, entrance areas of country cottages and narrow corridors of city apartments. But maximum spaciousness, practicality, and functionality will be characteristic of such furniture only if it is equipped with sliding systems for high-quality sliding wardrobes.

Sliding wardrobes are extremely popular all over the world. Furniture with similar door opening mechanisms combines comfort, high capacity, practicality and compact size. All these advantages became possible thanks to the presence of a special sliding system. The most popular today are roller and suspension systems.

Using a sliding wardrobe, you can successfully divide a room into two zones. For example, such a partition will divide the room into areas for relaxation and sleep in the bedroom. You can also divide the room for children of different sexes into two parts to create comfortable conditions for each of them. Structures that divide a room into zones do not lose their functionality.

Thanks to the installation of such systems, the cabinet doors will not rattle or make noise when opening and closing. The sliding system provides for smooth sideways movement of the door due to the presence of rollers moving along special profiles. If high-quality materials are used in the manufacturing process of such a system, it has a very long service life.

Why else are such mechanisms relevant in a bedroom or nursery? Such models have a special lock for sliding doors. It does not allow the cabinet door to hit its side wall with a knock, so there is no need to worry about the safety of the child. It will not hit an open door or press your finger when closing it.

Roller

Varieties

The variety of types of sliding systems for sliding wardrobes on the domestic market today is amazing. The choice is huge, which sometimes only confuses the buyer. Moreover, all types of sliding wardrobe systems are quite original.

According to the material of manufacture

If low-quality materials are used in the manufacturing process, then such furniture will not last long. Therefore, when selecting a model, it is important to pay attention to what kind of material was used to create the sliding system, two doors, the body of the product; if there is an insert on the facade made of a different material, it must also be of high quality.

The following materials are used today to create sliding systems for sliding wardrobes:

  • Stainless steel - economy class systems are manufactured using it. High reliability, long service life, practicality, and functionality determine the use of aluminum for the manufacture of sliding systems. Furniture with such fittings will last a very long time if it is treated with care, but the service life and quality of the aluminum version are still more impressive;
  • aluminum profiles are used for luxury models, since their cost significantly exceeds the cost of steel systems. Frames for doors and rails are created from thin-walled extruded profiles. They are distinguished by excellent performance parameters and affordable cost. Such doors move smoothly, without noise, but they are less reliable than aluminum. Another disadvantage is the high cost. It may scare away some buyers from the desire to purchase a model with an aluminum sliding system. Also, more expensive designs use anodized aluminum profiles for sliding systems, which can have several colors (matte gold, matte silver, bronze with an aging effect) or are lined with PVC film imitating the pattern of natural wood.

Depending on the shape of the door and the presence of a frame

Models may differ in the shape of the door, as well as the presence of a frame in the sliding system. Based on these characteristics, the following types of sliding systems are distinguished:

  • roller models with mechanisms in the form of a separate suspension fixed on the door leaf and roller. The roller is placed inside the rail profile, so the door slides smoothly and quietly;
  • frameless systems are the most economical option, in which there are no profiles at all, and the rollers are fixed directly on the door panel. But it is worth noting that the service life of such structures is the shortest. They wear out quickly, losing functionality due to swelling or deformation of chipboard sheets;
  • frame system - aluminum or steel is used to create such mechanisms. Doors with dividers look laconic and stylish. The first option is two to three times more expensive, but lasts longer. We also note that steel doors can be deformed, since they are hollow inside;
  • systems for radius models for sliding wardrobes have non-standard contours, therefore, in the process of their manufacture, not straight, but bent profiles with semicircular bends are used. Such mechanisms are developed for each model, taking into account the features of its configuration.

By type of guides

Nowadays, a buyer can choose a good-quality sliding wardrobe on the domestic market with a comfortable sliding door system with or without a dividing element. Note that all models of such furniture differ in the type of guides used. These elements are responsible for the assembly of the compartment door and the smooth movement of the rollers during the operation of the cabinet.

Guides for sliding systems are divided into groups, namely:

  • upper, lower, depending on the installation location;
  • single, double, depending on the number of doors in the structure.

The type of guides used determines the price category of the model, which is important to remember when choosing a sliding wardrobe for your home.

How to choose

Of course, it’s quite possible to make a sliding wardrobe with your own hands. This will allow you to show your own talent as a furniture maker and create designs of exactly the size needed for a particular room. This will require a little of your time and a high-quality sliding design, which you can pick up in the store. If making furniture is not your thing, you can purchase a ready-made model. But even here it is important to be vigilant, because some unscrupulous manufacturers use low-quality systems for compartment doors.

Only experienced specialists can tell you what to look for when choosing such products:

  • When using a sliding wardrobe, the main load falls on the sliding system, so it must be of the highest quality and reliable. Every day, the doors move in different directions many times, so models made from low-quality materials quickly break. It is better to choose options made of aluminum, as it is more durable and can easily withstand loads;
  • equipping a children's room with a closet should take into account the age of the child living in it. For a rapidly growing baby, you should opt for a more affordable aluminum frame model or an economical option - a frameless system. The child will grow, and in a couple of years he may need a more spacious wardrobe, so there is no point in overpaying for more expensive systems;
  • When selecting a wardrobe for a bedroom, it is important that the model has a locking element for maximum silent closing of the doors. This will save residents from anxiety in the morning, when one family member is already getting dressed and the second is still sleeping.

Be sure to ask the seller for a quality certificate for the selected wardrobe.

VIDEO: Suspension coupe system “Economy”, “Hettich”, “Top Line”

The quality of the product as a whole depends on its quality and technical characteristics. A poor-quality system can shorten the life of a hallway wardrobe by at least half, turning a luxurious piece of furniture into a useless pile of chipboard. Therefore, the choice of such an important detail should be approached thoughtfully, having studied all the pros and cons of the options offered by the furniture manufacturer. Despite the huge number of manufacturers of sliding systems, today only two types are relevant: a support sliding system and a hinged sliding system. The supporting one involves supporting the doors on lower rollers mounted on the rails of the lower profile. These rollers take all the load on themselves, leaving the upper rollers to perform a purely supportive function.

The suspension system differs from the support system in that the load-bearing function is performed by the upper rollers, and the lower ones do not exist at all. However, high-quality suspension systems, for example Cinetto made in Italy, are very expensive and are not as popular in our country as support ones. In turn, support sliding systems can be divided into frame and frameless. Frameless systems do not use profile edging of the door leaf. This does not allow the production of large doors, since it has to be made thicker to maintain rigidity. Frame systems involve edging with a profile that imparts rigidity to the door; therefore, during production, a material of less thickness is used, and the doors themselves are made in large sizes. Of the manufacturers of support systems, the most famous in our country are the four leaders in the production of furniture fittings of this kind. These are Versal, Aristo, Raumplus and Komandor. Each of them has its pros and cons, but in general they represent the segment of the highest quality sliding door systems sold in our country. Let's consider each of them separately.

Sliding systems Raumplus

The systems of the manufacturer Raumplus are the highest quality of those presented. The mechanism for connecting the profiles completely eliminates their spontaneous connection, which is a definite plus. The maximum load carried by the lower rollers is equivalent to a weight of 60 kilograms, and the maximum door height reaches 3500 millimeters. Thanks to the special design of the lower rollers in Raumplus systems, the position of the doors can be independently adjusted within 15 millimeters. The rigidity of the structure is ensured by a fairly large profile thickness of 1.2 millimeters, which ensures its high strength. All types of profiles are anodized. The thickness of the coating reaches 20-30 microns, which completely protects structures from the influence of oxidative processes. The guaranteed operation of the system is determined for a period of 25 years, or 100,000 openings and closings of each door.

Sliding systems Komandor

The main advantage of Komandor sliding door systems is the improved bottom roller design. The roller has an increased tensile strength, due to which it is able to withstand heavy loads. This allows you to slightly increase the maximum door dimensions. Also, special hooks on the lower roller prevent the door from sliding off the rails while moving. The profile is made of rigid aluminum alloy, which increases the reliability of the structure as a whole, however, the profile fastenings are not as reliable as those of the Raumplus systems. This can cause arbitrary disconnection of the profiles that make up the frame of the door leaf. All profiles are coated with polyester varnish or anodized to protect against the influence of aggressive environments. The shape of the profiles allows the door to slide freely along the rail, reducing the load. This increases the service life of the system as a whole.

Sliding systems Aristo

The main advantage of the Aristo sliding door system is the high-strength profile made from primary aluminum by extrusion. The strength of the profile allows us to produce doors up to 5 meters high. The lower rollers can withstand loads of up to 80 kilograms and can carry a door with a total weight of 160 kilograms. Another feature of Aristo profiles is the wide range of colors provided by the technology of applying anti-oxidation coating to the profile. The profile is wrapped in a polymer film of the required color, which, thanks to etching technology, is firmly attached to it. The estimated service life of the Aristo sliding system is about 30 years, or up to 110,000 door openings and closings. The disadvantages include an insufficiently perfect mechanism for connecting profiles, which sometimes leads to their arbitrary separation, as well as the absence of a mechanism that prevents the lower roller from leaving the guide rail.

Sliding systems Versal

The main advantages of the Versal sliding door system are the perfect accuracy of matching profile dimensions, ease of assembly and the large height of the top rail, which allows you to hide uneven ceilings, and low cost. This system is almost a complete analogue of the Raumplus sliding system, but it is less durable. The profiles are covered with a protective film of various colors, the bottom roller can withstand loads of up to 60 kilograms, and the rigidity of the profile allows the production of doors with a height of up to 3500 millimeters. The design strength is up to 70,000 door openings and closings, or 17-18 years. Using the data from our comparative characteristics, you can make an informed choice in favor of one or another sliding system when ordering a sliding wardrobe. It should be remembered that profiles for systems are manufactured in two versions - aluminum and steel. Steel profiles are much cheaper, however, despite their name, they have a smaller margin of safety than aluminum ones and are more susceptible to corrosion, which entails a shorter service life of the product as a whole.

Buying a wardrobe can solve the problem of limited space in your room. One property is similar in all such models: their canvases are able to move thanks to the presence of special mechanisms - guides. This article will tell you how to choose guides for sliding compartment doors. Only having the necessary information can you make a successful choice.

Kinds

Similar designs may differ in size and other features:

  • be equipped with a sliding door and an opening opening, which is similar in size to the parameters of a standard door;
  • have a movable partition and opening extending from wall to wall, from floor to ceiling;
  • have panels that open the opening of a sliding wardrobe separate from the walls of the room (this is a standard design of a sliding wardrobe);

  • Modern manufacturers also offer a built-in type of similar cabinet, as shown in the photo. This is something “in between” the standard model and a movable partition. Often such a product does not have any walls and is installed directly on the walls of the room.

Equipment

Each similar design is distinguished by the presence of:

  • Guide;
  • Rollers;
  • Stopper;
  • And a limiter.

The last two of these listed elements can be purchased together with a roller mechanism, or together with a sliding structure. However, their parameters do not have a significant impact on the operation of the entire product, which cannot be said about the guides.

Thanks to the presence of a stopper, such a door is fixed in one place, which prevents the doors from colliding with edges on the same “track”.

The limiter, in turn, is designed to determine the greatest distance by which the door will be able to move apart. The standard design is characterized by the installation of a limiter. In this case, the stopper is mounted to the floor and hidden by the door leaf of the product. This is definitely a big plus.

The most important factors that determine the parameters of such a design are guides and rollers.

The guides are made in the form of thick profiles. The product webs will move along them. Guides can be:

  • top, and then they are attached to the wall;
  • as well as the lower ones, and then they are attached to the floor;
  • the guides can also be single or double.

Which of them to use in a particular cabinet model depends on the design of the product itself.

Rollers are divided into:

  • upper ones, which may differ in the number of wheels depending on the weight of the door leaf installed in the cabinet. Heavier weights require more rollers. Depending on the shape of the profile used in the manufacturing process of the upper rollers, the latter can be divided into symmetrical and asymmetrical products.

  • and lower options, which are not very diverse and are almost all made using the same technology.

Now we will tell you in more detail about the main components of the cabinet system. Having this information, it will be much easier for you to understand the characteristics of each of the selected species.

Upper and lower sliding systems

Based on the name of the type of sliding system, it becomes clear that in the first version the rollers are located in the upper part of the product, and only clamps are located at the bottom. They also prevent the door leaf from oscillating while it moves. The lower sliding system has the opposite characteristics. The upper system is characterized by a number of significant advantages: when installing them, the unity of the floor covering is not disturbed, you will not encounter the problem of tripping over the threshold, or the difficulty of cleaning it.

In the case of using a lower sliding system, the load lies on the lower wheels moving along the grooves; and at the top of the doors there are additional wheels that move along a second guide.

A non-threshold design is more often used in the case of creating sliding doors and partitions, and a sliding system with lower support rollers, as shown in the photo, in the case of sliding wardrobes.

Material

Often, steel or aluminum is used as such material, which determines the name of the system. Increasingly in recent years, furniture manufacturers are dividing designs precisely according to this feature. There is a lot of debate about which one is better. But none of them is without its shortcomings.

Such systems are divided into classes according to load capacity.

Before choosing one or another mechanism with guides, you must take into account the weight of the door, since such systems differ depending on the weight of the door leaf.

Conditional classification

All of these systems include two or more movable door panels. And if we talk about fittings and types of fastenings, then such systems are divided into:

  • moving along the wall;
  • driving into a niche in the wall.

Let's sum it up

By purchasing a wardrobe, as shown in the photo, you can significantly save space in a small room. Therefore, such designs have been very popular lately. Such systems have different classifications and differ from one another in certain features that must be taken into account before choosing one or another option.
