How to make croutons

Fried crunchy croutons are loved by both children and adults. This very easy dish can be prepared in just 5 minutes. They are suitable for morning coffee, and for evening tea, and as bread for lunch soup.

How to make classic sweet croutons

For croutons, take a white loaf, preferably stale.

  • Cut the banana into slices.
  • Whisk 4 eggs and 1 cup milk in a bowl. Salt the mixture (a pinch) and put sugar (3 tablespoons).
  • Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan.
  • Dip each loaf slice into the egg and milk mixture and place the bread in the hot skillet.
  • When the bottoms of the croutons are browned, turn them over.
  • Put the finished croutons on a dish and additionally sprinkle with granulated sugar.

How to make vegetable croutons

These croutons can replace lunch if they are served, for example, with tomato juice.

  • On a fine grater, grate 2 raw potatoes, 1 carrot.
  • Add 1 finely chopped onion to the vegetables.
  • Stir the mixture and beat the egg into it.
  • Add salt, pepper and chopped spicy greens (dill, parsley, celery).
  • Cut the loaf or bread into slices. Bread can take even black.
  • Place a spoonful of vegetable mixture on each piece of bread and spread it over the entire surface. The layer of vegetables should not be more than 5 mm.
  • Put the croutons with the vegetable mixture down in a frying pan heated with oil.
  • After 2-3 minutes, when the vegetables are golden brown, turn the croutons over with a spatula.
  • Make sure that the bottom of the croutons are also fried.

How to make croutons with cheese

These croutons are best cooked on a mixture of vegetable and butter.

  • Heat oil in a frying pan (2 tablespoons each).
  • Lay the banana slices on the butter.
  • Place a slice of cheese on each slice of banana.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and keep the croutons on medium heat for 5 minutes.

Ready-made croutons will have a fried bottom, and they will have melted cheese on top.

How to make holiday croutons

These croutons are not ashamed to be served even to guests. So:

  • Cut the white loaf into slices 1 cm thick.
  • Make a lezion: raw egg - 2 pcs., milk or water - 2 tablespoons, salt - 1 pinch, ground pepper - 1 pinch.
  • Dip each slice of loaf in lezion and fry in vegetable oil on both sides.
  • Set aside the croutons to cool.
  • Make the sauce: mayonnaise (100 g), minced garlic (2 cloves).
  • Spread sauce on cold croutons.
  • Put the croutons on a wide dish and sprinkle each with chopped boiled eggs and green onions.
  • Garnish the croutons with lemon wedges and parsley sprigs.

Another recipe for very tasty and light croutons. Fry the loaf slices in butter or in a toaster. Rub them with garlic. Lubricate with any mayonnaise. Sprinkle with grated hard cheese. Decorate the dish with herbs.
